Tue Jun 09 2009Hilary Swank is wasted in this silly movie that might have made an interesting X-Files episode, but even that would be a stretch. Even the effects are cheesy, as are the dialogue and plot. 1-star, mostly because Hilary looks good and tries hard to be better than the material.

Wed May 20 2009I understood that this was a previously viewed DVD, but when I received it, it was clear that it was a copy of an original.

Sun Apr 19 2009This film is not only not scary, it is unbearably boring and predictable. An embarrassment for everyone concerned. Save your money. I wish I had.

Tue Apr 14 2009I really enjoyed his movie. Knowing the Bible's plaques and also knowing scientific facts of how they could be justified if you wanted to not take them to reason of it all being God's will I could appreciate this movie very much. I found this gripping, intense and also touching at times. I would say be your own critic in this particular movie. Don't watch the special features first! Not knowing how they did the locus scene made it more intense and horrific. I didn't notice the rating of this movie but I would give it a R rating myself and not let small children watch this movie. I would even not trust a PG-13 rating because of the occult message in the movie of Satin verses God message that was sent during this movie when they arrived in Haven. This is just my opinion. I am a Hilary Swank movie collector and have no regrets I've added this to my collection. I thought she did a great job in this movie. AnnaSophia was delightful yet frightening at times when she gave that glare... Read more

Tue Dec 02 2008Look, I didn't think "The Exorcist" was the best horror film to ever come out of Hollywood, but I can't help but compare it to nearly everything that calls itself a "horror film" that's come out in the decades since. Give "The Exorcist" its due-- it set out to shock and scare people, despite its absurd premise, and it succeeded by pulling out all the stops. Of course, it's difficult to top some of what appeared in it (how do you "top" a 12-year old girl masturbating with a crucifix or vomiting pea soup into a priest's face while shrieking gravel-voiced obscenities?), and, given the Reagan-style puritanism of subsequent decades, nobody's been too willing to try. "Shocking" and "Scary" in cinema now constitutes an ocean of blood flowing down a wall, or over a floor, or into a river. Or someone (or something) walking up suddenly behind someone else and scaring them into cardiac arrest. Or...well, that seems to be about it. And so..."The Reaping". I've never been diagnosed with Attention D... Read more

Tue Dec 02 2008I'm not a big fan of horror movies, particularly recent ones, which replace any kind of intelligent creepiness with simpleminded gore and have the intellectual depth of a petrie dish. That being said, even by those standards, this thing is a piece of shit.
