I very recently worked with The Harper Group to find my dream job. Entering the office I was overwhelmed by the lovely thank you letters on the walls and knew this was the place I needed. Recently graduating from a great University, with interning experience and awesome grades I was frustrated that I spent the whole summer searching for jobs with no replies, then I found Harper Group. I worked with both Jill and Jean, both of them went out of their way to prepare me for the interview, post interview and answered any other questions I had. It is hard finding any job in todays economy and Harper Group went above and beyond finding me my dream job!!

I was just placed by The Harper Group and came on here to submit a review when I read the most recent one. Obviously there's a reason why he/she is unemployed. Attitude plays a huge factor in the entire job hunting process...including how you treat employment services. If you are rude to those that want to help you why should they go out of their way to be pleasant? Jill and Jean would go on the interview for you if they could. They are compassionate, empathic and sincere in their quest to help. They don't give up...every...until they find you exactly what you want. This is the second time they have placed me and these ladies should be proud of themselves for their dedication and kindness. Those who leave negative reviews really need to get jobs because they obviously have too much time on their hands.

I had the most amazing expirience with Harper Group. I worked with Jean who was so nice and very involved. I always felt that she was on top of what was going on with me. We were in contact a few times a week and even though I was completely switching careers, she was able to get me an interview with an AMAZING company within a matter of weeks! In Manhattan! During the summer! Which is a miracle within itself. I got the job and couldnt be happier. Go with Harper Group!

I've used The Harper Group in my hiring as well as, recently, for my own job search. They were excellent from both perspectives. Jean and Jill are amazing, courteous professionals who have an excellent grasp of the employer/employee match. During my job search they never tried to push me into a job that wasn't the right fit, only sent me on interviews that were good possibilities. Jill provides sound, compassionate advice when needed and seems to work around the clock! I would absolutely recommend them (and I do!) to anyone looking to hire candidates or apply for a job themselves.

The Harper Group was the first and only temp agency I sent my resume into, on a whim while taking a course through NYU. Within two hours of submitting my resume via email, I received a phone call from Jean, setting up an appointment to get in to meet with her the next day. I was immediately happy with her encouragement and dedication to finding me work, even in these difficult summer months when temps are replaced by interns. Although it took a couple weeks for Harper to find me work, I was pleased that when I called in to check on the status, they recognized me by name and were polite and encouraging. I haven't spent much time with Jill, but she was professional and courteous in the brief time I did speak with her. Jean, however, was an absolute gem to work with! I hope to continue with Harper until I find a permanent position!

Just moving to a new big city after being away 7 yrs is an extremely overwhelming experience...especially when you come to NY with no job! What a blessing to have met the ladies at The Harper Group! Jill and I clicked and she immediately went to work for me. I had some things roll in almost right away! I had been to quite a few agencies prior to The Harper Group and not many impressed me. I, on occassion, felt a bit like "cattle"....this was not the case with Jean and Jean AT ALL! I am proud to say I now am employed at a fabulous company! I can't thank these ladies enough and feel truely happy to have met them. I HIGHLY recommend The Harper Group to anyone who is looking for a great opportunity!!

After months of visiting other agencies and interviewing at places I did not want to work, I finally came across the Harper Group....and Thank GOD! I just landed a wonderful job at an amazing company. This job is exactly what I have been looking for and I could not have done it without Jean and Jill. These ladies are terrific, very professional, and best of all give you the one on one attention that other agencies don't. The first day I walked in, everyone was extremely friendly....Jill even typed up my resume! She made it look wonderful! She was also perfect at finding out exactly what areas I was interested in working in. I remember leaving the office feeling very positive. For the first time I felt like I had left an agency where I was understood and where we were all on the same page. They almost always manage to answer their phones and if they do not, your phone call will be returned the day of. Another thing I found extremely rare in NYC. You would be dumb not to try t... I finally just finished the long and grueling interview process and thanks to The Harper Group I found my dream job. I must have applied to dozens of agencies before I found The Harper Group. When I went to their office I received so much personal attention. Each time I visited, I was the only person in there. They gave me a great prep session before my interviews and even followed up after each one. I loved that each time I called their office they knew who was calling and what I was calling about. They were always one step ahead of my thoughts. I can not believe that there are bad comments on here about The Harper Group. Jill and Jean are wonderful and very courteous. I think that job hunters have to remember one thing: staffing agencies are working for the company they are representing. Their job is to find the best match for the company; so if they don?t call you right away it's probably because they don?t have a match for you currently but given some time a new job may arise th... I just moved to the New York City area and was lost and frustrated, looking for a job and just about ready to settle for anything. I decided to give the internet one last try, and while on my quest for this job I came across The Harper Group on the internet and decided to give them a call. Instantly I was set up with an interview with Jill. When I got there for my interview, not only did I find their office to be welcoming in its style, but I found Jill and Jean to be warm, excited to get me started, and extremely professional!!! They made me feel so comfortable in their presence and they had exceptional knowledge of the industry. I knew right away this was the place that I felt I could trust in helping me with my job quest. Jill worked with me one on one preparing me for what the job market had to offer and listened to what I was looking for out of a job. She instantly set me up with an interview with a company that is not only offering me a job, but a company I feel like I can grow w... Read more

When I called about a job Jill acted like she did not have time for my questions. If you are going to be working with the public then you need excellent customer service skills. Jill tells me to email her my resume and when I confirmed the email address she made me feel like I was getting on her nervous. She made me feel like I was a burden on her. Jean on the other hand was helpful. Jill get it together. You are working with the public so sharpen up your customer service skills. I do understand sometimes you may be in a rush but remember the impression you give to people. I don't know who you are but my impression of you is not so great. You have to be a good person. Your running a company in New York and have the opportunity to bless people with jobs. I always take this attitude at my job: Treat everyone fair, never have an attitude with the customer, remember customers don't know what I am going through or have to do, keep a beautiful smile, and always do my best for everyone.

It always amazes me how people take the liberty to bad mouth businesses without thinking about the ramifications. It also is amazing to me that The Harper Group's worst reviews, with the exception of one, are from people who have never been there. I've been around and around the agency circuit so many times that I'm dizzy. I've been used, abused and beaten up by strongarmed counselors wanting me to go on jobs that I was not even interested in. Finally I found Jill and Jean. They are not only the ultimate professionals, but genuine, caring people. They treated me in a manner that I had yet to find anywhere else...like a person. I had three interviews and then ultimately a great job in three days. These ladies are fantastic at what they do. Take a good look at these reviews. The people who have met Jean and Jill rave. Those who have not are not only inarticulate, but have not had the good fortune that I did.

I think the Harper Group is basically like all of the other agencies out there. They sound very excited to meet you and set you up for an interview and when it comes they tell you the market is slow. I just wish someone would tell me why have so many people come in to meet for 5minutes when you don't have a position available. The screening process can be done over the phone. What agencies fail to realize that the more of these "interviews" you go on and nothing comes out of it, your enthusiasm for the interview process not to mention your confidence level starts to diminish. I will keep calling the Harper Group. That's what Jill asked me almost daily and maybe today might be the day she actually has some news for me.

I would definitely recommend going to Jean and Jill at The Harper Group! Within two days of meeting with them, I was out doing temporary assignments and they were working on finding me a permanent position. Harper is a very intimate employment agency which allows a more personal relationship to develop and that leads to them finding jobs well-suited to the individual. The interviews they got for me were at top-notch companies and for positions that were perfect for me. I am very excited about my new job and company and have Jean and Jill to thank for it.

Anytime I come across someone that is looking for a job I will refer them to the Harper Group. They are amazing. I am so happy I came across them. They are very easy to get along with and so you feel comfortable being honest about what you're looking for and you really feel like they're on your side. I really can't write enough good things about them. If you are responsible, reliable and serious about working, it will be a perfect fit.

Although I see how it is annoying to some when they dont get feedback from the Harper Group, as someone who is temping for Harper I need to defend them and say that these women have a wonderful reputation that they need to uphold. I am at my second temp stint with them and both companies I've worked for are internationally and nationally recognized and well known companies who simply wouldn't tolerate a lackluster performace from even their temp employees. Jean and Jill would not be able to provide their temps with such valuable opportunities if they called back or worked with anyone who forwarded them his/her resume. Jean and Jill genuinely care about the wellbeing of their temps and the employers they work with. Long term temps are frequently hired after their temp tenure is up and short term temps are given the opportunity to earn money with little commitment at good companies. Jean and Jill give great advice and even a holiday gift to their temps! I couldn't be more apprec... Read more

LOL! I just saw your comment, whoever you are at The Harper Group. I'm going to send you my resume and maybe I'll hear from you. :) ............................This was my original comment: I'm researching agencies and haven't even submitted a resume to The Harper Group but I have to comment her. I'm surprised at the disgruntled comments on here. Just because you send your resume to an agency doesn't mean they're required to respond to you. Do you write bad reviews about every company you submit resumes to? If I did that, I'd be on the internet my entire life. Looking for work IS work. Part of that effort can be through agencies. And if at first you don't succeed then try, try again. If not with The Harper Group, then perhaps with another agency.

I've been to, it seems like, a MILLION staffing agencies since moving to NY. Honestly, I don't remember how I came across Harper Group, but I am very happy that I did. They have been excellent at placing me at temp positions and am hoping to find a permanent position soon! I have been to recruiting/staffing agencies more times than I would care to count in the past few months. I met with all of them and they said "yeah we have something promising, we'll try and send you out"...and after that NOTHING. I sent emails and made phone calls and no response. When I sent my resume my Harper I got a response within a day, went in to meet with Jean and Jill and was sent out on two interviews the same day! Since, I have done some temp work for them while they continue to find a permanent position for me. Having just graduated college, I have been finding the whole jobsearch process is extremely frustrating...as I am sure many of you do too. It has become less so since meeting Jean and Jill. I feel like I have someone in my corner, rather than a parent leaning over my shoulder saying "Get a job." It's refreshing to say the least. But let's be realistic people, most likely you aren't going to get a job right away once you meet them. It takes time. You just have to be... Read more

I was referred to them by a close friend and was shocked by the professionalism and job connections they have. Unlike other places that waste your valuable job seeking time. Once interviewed, they helped me get on the fast track with the right employers at decent pay. They provided me with quick responses to all of my questions and went the extra mile to make me feel right at home. I would recommend them to anyone who is serious about finding a job or looking for a career. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be where I am at today. Nice work ladies and thank you so much so everything!

I don't recommend Harper Group because they wasted my time and energy. I had responded to ads placed by Harper Group a few times but never had any response. I decided to contact them after reading about the positive reviews on this site. I called to ensure my resume was received and was told by the woman answering the phone that I will not receive any confirmation and that I should not call them, they will call me. She alluded to the fact that they couldn't respond because they receive hundreds of resumes daily and went on to say, "We don't work with everyone who sends us their resume." I find it unprofessional and rude to not acknowledge receipt of a document - perhaps they have not heard of auto reply? I doesn't help anyone if Harper Group receives a resume from someone who doesn't fit the profile of people they are willing to work with and they just ignore it. Their way of handling those unwanted applicants results in those same "undesirable" people continuing to send Harp... Read more

I can't say enough good things about Jill and Jean. From the moment I walked into their office I felt comfortable and knew that I was in good hands. They listened, learned about who I am and what I was looking for. They scheduled an interview for me on the spot because they thought I would be a good fit. They were right. They fully prepared me for the interview and kept me posted the whole time and I got the job. I can't thank them enough. They understand that it is not just about going to any random interview, its about relationship and fit - that saves valuable time for everyone. Thank you ladies! You are the best!

I never write reviews on anything, but felt I needed to make an exception for The Harper Group. After leaving my job of 6 years I ventured out into the scary and unfriendly world of unemployment. After doing some cold interviews and talking to other agencies my friend recommended The Harper Group. Meeting Jean and Jill definitely made me feel like I now had someone on my side. When they met with me they spent time talking to me and trying to see what I was interested in - not justing throwing me into a certain catergory based on my background. I was able to reach Jean and Jill all the time, they even called me after 6pm to prep me for an interview the next day. They also kept me in temp work while I continued to interview. I highly recommend The Harper Group to assist with your job search. They are loyal and really care about people and want their candidates to be happy. Thanks Ladies!

I guess those of you who are unemployed have nothing else to do but trash these fine ladies. Perhaps if you had a job or had a better attitude you wouldn't have so much time on your hands to write a negative review. Do you realize that your lack of a phone call which leads to a horrible review has both an effect . Jean and Jill take everything to heart and I would imagine take your comments personally more than professionally. I have worked with The Harper Group not once, but twice. Unfortunately there was a restructuring at my first job so I called Jean and Jill desperate to find something immediately. Within 24 hours I had 3 interviews and on the third day a job for a higher salary and position. These women have heart.

Let me start off by saying this is my very first time placing a review on line. I lost my job recently and a friend recommended me to "The Harper Group". I sent my resume and quickly met with Jill and Jean and I felt that I was in good hands at once. They both made me feel very comfortable and immediately presented me with some job offers that I might be interested in. I can honestly say Jill & Jean are loyal, persistent and thorough. I can call or email them morning/night with any questions or concerns. They make sure I'm interested in what's available, so it's not just finding any job, but finding one I will be HAPPY with. They are a great team and we should all be so lucky to have them accomodate us in our job search.

As a fair individual, I will neither recommend nor disuade anyone from visiting The Harper Group, Inc. Furthermore, I shall refrain from rating their services as none have been rendered on my behalf to date. Consequently, I cannot exactly gauge their performance when they have yet to perform. What I can say is that to date they have not contacted me. I forwarded The Harper Group, Inc. a Cover Letter, a copy of my resume and a skill set summary for their diligent review. The recruiters I met with in New York ALL felt I was highly marketable and began to "skill market" me immediately; even before I had left their offices. The Harper Group, Inc. has yet to return any of my phone calls. The Harper Group, Inc. seems to "harp" on their applicants. I contacted them based on the feedback I read on this forum. Unfortunately, I believe it was all "Harper Hype" and certainly not representative of their attentiveness. A simple return phone call was all the professional courtesy I expected. I am ... Read more

I had a similar experience to those giving the agency a negative review. I read up on the agency before submitting my resume, and for the most part, the reviews were positive, although some complained that the agency never got back to them. So I decided to be proactive approach and when I sent in my resume, I included a short email telling them about myself and that I would follow up them in a week. A week later, having heard nothing, I called and spoke with Jean. We chatted briefly, I told her I what I was looking for and she said "Great, email your resume to this other email address and we'll try to schedule you for early next week, and make sure to say we talked about meeting on Monday.? Then she said she would get back to me. I figured the ball was now in her court and it was up to her to contact me, as she had promised. She never got back to me and I never ended up meeting them. I am a client of The Harper Group and have been since they opened 2 1/2 years ago. I hire many of their fine people and check out their reviews from time to time. I'm so sick of seeing bad reviews given by people who have never even met these fine women. Jill and Jean will do back flips for candidates to get them the right position with the right company. They treat their applicants with respect, dignity and loyalty. They make themselves available 24/7 and make that very clear. I know all of this from experience as an applicant and a client. I also know this from the people they send who rave about them. Being on Citysearch has been a blessing and a curse for them. Their reviews are great so people want to work with them, but the volume is so high that they can't possibly take care of everyone so therefore get some bad reviews from people who haven't even met them. People should not make judgements on people they've never met nor worked with. If you are fortunate enough to ... Read more

Moving to New York has been an interesting ride, especially trying to get a job. After a couple of months of interviews (both with companies and recruiters), I found The Harper Group. They truly care about matching the right person with the right job. I did a couple temp assignments with fun and fab companies, but once I got an offer from another company I had to take it as funds were running out. I wished I did not jump the gun, but my eyes are still open for opportunities. And for some of the frustrated job seekers, you must understand that these ladies are doing their jobs and helping as many people as they can handle. It is a small operation, but with really great rewards. If you are that much in a bind, you should still work with other agencies because the job of your dreams might end up there. Remember - you are the one asking for their help!

I?m never one to write reviews on anything, but for The Harper Group I had to make an exception. The ladies who head up this company are caring, supportive and most of all on top of their game. Their connections are the real deal, as is proof of my new job position working in my field of choice!! Making the decision four months ago to quit my job and take a chance with Harper has honestly changed my life, and I can offer up no regrets. After all isn?t that what life is all about, taking chances? If you?re looking for solid, one-on one interaction with ppl. who actually care about where you?re placed, and will answer your incessant, sometimes pointless e-mails in a timely fashion:~), I?d suggest The Harper Group! I called again and made an appointmen on the spott to come in the next day...I WAS THRILLED/OPTIMISTIC.....and then I received a vmail message that my appointment could not be kept that they would have to review my resume for me to send it to their email address :( To say I was extremely disappointed is an understatement. I just got my job through the Harper Group and came to this site because that's how I heard about them and wanted to give them my own review. I read the most recent statements and I have to say that I can't believe and don't believe them. I went to The Harper Group 2 weeks ago looking for a position in media. Jean and Jill were very honest and told me that my skills did not match the job they had, but would keep me in mind. Waiting, I began to temp for them. They stayed in constant touch with me and sent me on temp jobs that were interesting and paid well. Eventually they told me about a job in media and I interviewed on my lunch hour. Well, I got the job. These two ladies are lovely, caring and above all honest (unlike some of the other agencies I'd dealt with). While I do not wish nor plan to participate in a back and forth with the owners of this agency, I have to set something straight here. You have never met me. None of you have. I never walked through your doors because I never made it past your screener, and I based my review on a very hurried and huffy phone conversation in which I was told that you receive hundreds of resumes and wouldn't know if you'd seen mine or not. Whoever this was was extremely anxious to get off the phone and when I tried to inquire more about what THG was looking for I was met with impatience and one-word answers. I don't blame you for wanting to defend your reputation, but you made a mistake by being nasty here to people who have genuine criticisms you. That's what this place is for, not just for your marketing tactics. You made an even bigger one--and possibly exposed yourselves as being the BSers I initially accused you of--by concocting a negative experience with me (including made-up character flaws) in... Jill and Jean were great!!! They found exactly what I was looking for!!! I was getting frustrated going to all these agencies that really didn't get to know me. They were just interested in the money instead of finding me a home. Jill and Jean took the time to get to know me. Jill found me the perfect job or should I say home. This is what it feels like. I will be forever gratefull. Thanks so much!!!!

I recently just moved from Florida, and for about a month and a half of trying to find a place of employment, with great pay that I wanted, it was finally available for me after signing up with The Harper Group just after two weeks! Jean, is a great person, she was available to me via e-mail, and after hours on her cell phone if I couldn't reach her at work. I would definitley go to her again, if I needed to find a job, and I would definitley recommend this company to anyone!

After unsuccessfully searching for a job on my own in the fashion industry for about two months, I turned to the ladies at The Harper Group and was completely astonished with the results. Not only did they find me a job in fashion within days, they found me an INCREDIBLE job in fashion, nothing that I ever would have been privy to or had access to. Jean and Jill are very well-connected, respected in the human resources community, and truly cared about finding the perfect job for me. They really treat each candidate in a very personal way, there is nothing intimidating about them, and you can be yourself when expressing your needs about finding work. Can't say as much for other staffing companies where it is large, impersonal, and all about the bottom line.

The Harper Group is a highly professional placement agency with a personal touch. They found my resume on one of the major job search websites and contacted me about a high level position in the fashion industry. They then lead me through every step of the way, from the candidate submission process to the salary and benefit negotiation phase. The highest compliment that I can give them is that I wish every other placement agency was as good. Sincerely, WJG Director of Finance

I had been to many employment agencies in New York and honestly was beginning to get frustrated. No call backs, being shuffled from desk to desk and the feeling that I was simply another number began to get old. Then I went to The Harper Group. They listened to what I was interested in professionally and tried to match me to the best suited job. Even though they were extremely busy I never once felt like I was being brushed to the side or hurried along. The best part was feeling as though they cared as to whether or not I got a job and seemed genuinely happy when I did! I would recommend The Harper Group to anyone who is looking for a job and who wants to be treated well, with timely responses and fantastic results!

The Harper Group and Temps by Harper put every other agency in NY to shame. The minute you walk through the door I stopped holding my breath and realized I was not going to be treated like a number. Jean and Jill welcomed me, offered me tea or coffee ... even lunch and made me feel so at home. Where else do you get these offers? Usually it's "can you type? come meet her? what does she do?" The first question I was asked was "have you ever worked with an agency?" After my rather blunt answer Jean spent a lot of time telling me how she and Jill work and I realized immediately that I would be taken care of. Well, not only did they call me at night to follow up, help me with interviewing skills, send me on some great temp jobs, but place me in an incredible job in fashion. I was in shock. I can't thank The Harper Group enough for their kindness and "non-agency," "non-number" approach.
