The Boondock Saints

For years now I've heard a lot about The Boondock Saints and how great and underrated it is. I hate to admit it but I just now got around to seeing it. The film was really captivating and never boring. To quickly sum it up it's about two brothers who decide to take the law into their own hands. Being a fan of "vigilante" films I was quickly drawn into the movie. While it's not all action and violence, there's definitely plenty of it here...But it takes a second seat to the story which is very refreshing since a lot of movies of this ilk are all flash and no depth. My only complaint lies with the blu-ray transfer. It seems like it's just the dvd transfer upscaled which is a little dissapointing. Some scenes look pretty good, while others have some heavy grain. The sound is good though, thankfully. Extra wise you're getting two commentaries, deleted scenes, outtakes, a printable script, and a trailer. This is one of the most homoerotic Irish films ever made. That doesn't make it good--because it isn't. It's a sad piece of amateurish film making, from the "writing," to the direction and editing. The actors are uniformly OK--doing their best to breath life into a dead and pointless script. That this film has found a home on video says more about the poor taste and lack of intellectual skills of those who excuse ignorance and anarchy for "good independent film making." It isn't. Skip it.

Movie is awesome!! Acting is great. Willem Defoe is a little over the top at times, but all in all this is a great movie. It is a good conversation piece that opens a lot of debates regarding good vs. evil and how we can expect to get justice in a corrupt system.

Great movie presented in a great picture quality (in comparance to its age and budget...).

You cannot argue that The Boondock Saints is one of the best movies ever made ... no one is reading this review to hear that ... you already know. The picture quality is amazing. There could be more special features, but if you are a fan of this movie and have a Blue Ray player - add this one to your cart.

One of the best movies out there and I tend to be very picky most of the time. The acting is amazing and the plot and storyline is always entertaining no matter how many times I watch it. 5 Stars highly reccomended!

solid flick, great fricking dialog, cool action but not overdone

Wonderfully written, acted, and superbly cast. Especially Willem Dafoe. The soundtrack is wonderful. The only bad thing was that this movie didn't get the deserved run in the theaters due to the Columbine event. The characters are all well developed. The story is tight and solid. Troy Duffy is a genius, and we need to see more of his work. This work is a credit to the independent film industry, and shows that you can make a great film without lots of special effects and a big budget.

this movie is awesome and conner and murphy are fine as hell and the old bartender is the man!!!!! And always remember...Don't cross the road if you can't get out of the kitchen!

I think this movie is one of the best movies made. It has great action and wonderful twists within the plot.

Brilliant plot, lots of action- you really get caught up in it all. This film is at the top of my "favorites" list.

Quite possibly the best Cult movie ever. No offense to Rocky Horror but come on. Let's be honest here.

Tons of action and lots of humor. Lots of gore and language, so if that turns you off than dont waste your time, but if its action and comedy, then pick this one up.
