Dr. Blevins came recommended to me, however he does not see new patients, so you are left seeing one of his associates. This review is for the Round Rock location. Needless to say, I will not be returning. My experience in a nutshell is as follows: 1) Rude staff (administrative and nurses), only care about your insurance and billing information, not why you are being referred 2) Received a rude letter in mail prior to visit stating you must arrive 30 minutes early and if you don't confirm three days prior, your appointment will be automatically canceled. If you don't bring your insurance card you will be considered "self-pay". (I was already pre-authorized by my insurance). 3) Jumped to conclusion of needing surgery before even putting hands on me for a physical exam or reviewing further tests. Referred me to the radiologist and the surgeon that they use exclusively??? Referred me for testing (no benefits or risks explained). When I called back NEXT DAY to discuss concerns, wa... Read more

I visited the round rock location since it's nearest and I was very disappointed with their service. I went during my pregnancy because I developed gestational diabetes and a friend recommend them, however she went to the Austin office . The nurse that helped me was polite and professional but the doctor and nutritionist there were awful. All they want to do is charge the insurance money for nothing. The nutritionist basically told me what I already knew from a book I purchased online about gestational diabetes. She rushed through everything, seems she wanted to get me out of there ASAP. I asked about a meal plan or list of foods to eat/avoid expecting to get a print out or a booklet like my friend did, instead she wrote something really quick on a sheet of paper and sent me on my way. Next time I went was to see the endocrinologist which was a waste of time, she basically stared at me and answered my questions with a question. I gained nothing from seeing her, no new input from her... Read more

Dr. Valerie Espinosa saved my life and found a tumor that effected all my hormones and could have killed me. No one else in town had the skill to find it and I think I would have died if I had not seen her. Thanks to all at the office involved in my care.

I was hesitant to use this business based upon the reviews that I had read here but my OB/GYN referred me to them when it was discovered that I had a thyroid problem. After reading the reviews I even called the nurse at the OB/GYN office to ask questions about the practice. After my appoinment I can say that I cannot believe the majority of reviews posted here. I had a very good experience from start to finish. The appointment desk was very helpful in providing all the information I would need to make an appointment. My appointment was within two weeks of my call - which was surprising for a specialist office. Upon arrival I did have to wait to be called - but this is not unusual for any doctors office. They had my records from my OB/GYN so they did not have to repeat any of the lab tests or try to "figure" out what was going on. The doctor spent about 25 minutes with me explaining the condition and treatment options. When I left I was very satisfied and called my OB/GYN to le... Read more

This is my wife's experience with this business: "If I could give less than one star to these unfeeling, rude people, I would. These guys took $50 from us for a "missed appointment." It was unfair, and they boldy refused to return it, clearly indicating they didn't care about losing our future business or the business of anyone who reads this. Here's the story: My mother injured herself severely in March of '07. She stayed in bed quite a bit, barely able to get to dialysis to keep herself alive. Because of a household mishap, she injured herself even worse in August of '07. That's when I took her to the hospital for surgery. She was on a lot of painkillers for her constant, excruciating pain, which made her delirious. By October of '07, she was so delirious, she needed to be hospitalized, because everyone thought she had had a stroke! Unfortunately, during this time, she missed an appointment at Texas Diabetes & Endocrinology. Nobody knew where her calendar was, or that she had an ... Read more

Went there from a referral... 1. They took my healthcare information, but did not check with coverage. 2. The doctor, Esxxxxxxx also did not confirm with insurance plan. She ordered a bunch of lab work, some of which was unnecessary. 3. My insurance did not cover what she coded and they charged me a great amount which was completely out of my clues. 4. It took forever to schedule an appointment with them, like 2-3 months after my referral. 5. The staff was very rude. They complained about my insurance plan but not themselves and made me to take care of a couple of thousand bill with one doctor's visit only ordering lab work. 6. They even switched to another physician on my lab reports to take care of my case... Nothing wrong with me. I got a hube bill from these guys. Don't go there! Go to other clinics for your diabetic or endocrine problems!!

I drive 5 hours one way for my appointment at TDE and have been doing so for 3 years. No, I don't live in the sticks and there are diabetes physicians both in my city and within a shorter driving period. When I first started going to TDE their Diabetes Educator had been voted as the "TX Diabetes Educator of the Year". I have always been treated with complete respect and professionalism by everyone, from the front desk to the nurses in the back, the techs, to the doctors and PA's. I have both diabetes and a goiter on my thyroid. After 11 years and 4 diabetes doctors, no one had checked into my goiter until I came to TDE. The meds I had been taking throughout the 11 years had not helped and TDE both changed and updated me to a better diabetes management program. During these 3 years I have been very sick and had surgeries and they kept up with me during those situations. I highly recommend TDE and encourage anyone with diabetes and/or endocrinology problems to go there. I feel t... Read more

I have not been to these doctors, but after reading everyone's comments, I have decided to forego this clown bunch. When I called to make an appointment, I was told they needed a referral from another doctor with all paper work. That's one big hoop to jump through, even though my insurance does not require a referral. Then I was told I would see a nurse for the first time and not a doctor.I asked the staff when would I see a doctor and was told that the office works like this: Every two visits you will see a nurse and and the third visit you will see the doctor. I asked the staff, just what does the doctor do? No comment!!!! Each time you only see a nurse ( I don't care how much certification she/he has or education) you are charged the same as seeing a doctor.I am a R.N. worked on a diabetic floor and worked in dialysis and I don't want to see only a nurse. For that matter, I have the experience to know almost as much as the nurse does. This is a factory mentality - move in em...move... Read more

I was seen by Dr. Blevins after the initial PA visit routine. He is very thorough and spends a lot of time with you when you do get to seen him. He was very helpful with my thyroid problem. Otherwise, you have to see one of the PA's and I would just rather not bother with them. I'm not impressed with anything they do and many times Dr. Blevins changes what they suggest. If you could just deal with Dr. Blevins, everything would be so much better. Maybe this clinic/practice is just getting too big?!? Also, its a good way to get some exercise. You walk up to the window and check in and they have you sit in the waiting room; they call you into a room to get your temp and BP and then have you sit back down in the waiting room; then you get called back for any tests you need and then they put you back in the waiting room and finally, you get called to see the doctor or PA.

I have a pituitary tumor and it has ruined the last year of my life. I had a doctor spend 3 minutes with me at Tx D&E. I told him how my mental and physical health had been declining over the past 6 months and I was at my end. All he told me was that I had a tumor, but my labs were normal and to just come back in 6 months. I left in tears. What kind of doctor shows you the door after you tell him you have been suffering for months??!

I have seen Dr Blevins on each of my visits to this practice. Each time he has given me his full and thoughtful attention. I have had ultrasound and biopsy procedures performed in the office. The staff have always been competent and caring.

Well, I've also had a good experience with this facility. I did have to wait about 6 weeks to get an appointment, but I was looking for a new doctor to treat a long-term thyroid and hormonal problem, so it wasn't a life-or-death situation for me. I've never had a problem with the staff at all. They always seem nice to me, and my insurance doesn't really pay out all that well to specialists, so I know it's not a money-driven/reimbursement motivation. I'm guessing the other reviewers must have met the 1 or 2 people on staff I have yet to meet (every office has them!) Also, I was able to see a Doctor on my first visit, but followed up with a PA. This makes sense to me, b/c the PA is basically reporting to the Doctor on the followup and the doctor will call if the patient needs to be seen again or more tests need to be run. Seems efficient to me. I asked for Dr. Blevins but was told he wasn't taking any new patients, so I ended up seeing Dr. Espinoza, and I'm really glad I did!!!... Read more

Yes, the staff is rude, but what I found even more troublesome was that the doctors were horrible too. I never truely understood what was wrong with me until I switched doctors. My last visit there, I was actually in tears because it was so horrible.

Right out of the gate! I couldn't even get past the rude 16 yr old who spoke to me over the phone. I explained I was searching for a new Thyroid Doctor and you would have thought I just insulted her somehow. Then in her Teenage angsty valley girl tone begins to explain to me that in order to see their fleet of doctors, I would have to have my primary physician fax a referral. My insurance does not require that, I explain. Her reply was it is their policy. I explained this is not another "hoop" im willing to jump through just to see a doctor. The way she explained it to me is that these doctors talk to your primary care who then speak to you. What?!?! Really?! If so, that is utterly ridiculous. Sometimes first impressions are the best and most accurate. It's a gamble I'm willing to take.

You might get to see a doctor 6-8 months after you first visit with a tech, possibly a nurse. They are pushy with their new fangled testing equipment that they need to pay for. CONSULT YOUR GP before allowing a nurse or a doctor to schedule you for VERY EXPENSIVE tests that you probably do not need. I am sure Doctor Blevins is an incredible physician, but he no longer accepts new patients and you will get lost in the proliferation of his "practice". Also, read the ridiculous fee and policy page. You will get nickled and dimed and your insurance will not help you. When I cancelled my appointment because of a "bad first experience". The reponse I got was, "Ok, thanks, have a nice day!"

I've never had a problem with this office. Everyone has always been nice, professional, and courteous. I haven't had any of the experiences that the other patients on this site have had. I've always been able to speak to my specialist, she's always made time for me and she asked me a lot of questions in order to assess my condition. My particular doctor also kept in touch with me between appointments. I never felt rushed in or rushed out. I find it interesting that people were complaining about their co-pays as if it was the fault of this office that they had to pay a co-pay. That issue should be taken up with their insurance company. It has NOTHING to do with the office. Did they expect to walk in and out at no charge??? I also feel like people go to the doctor's office expecting to be treated like royalty. It's a doctor's office, not the Spa at Lake Austin.

The doctors are friendly and intelligent. But if you care about how your are treated by the staff, forget it! The staff is not service oriented and they do not know how to say "I'm sorry" but will blame the patient for misunderstandings. Too bad because the doctors are professional and honestly seem to care. They need a much better staff.

They charge you "specialist" rates. But you will never get to see the doctor. You will be given appointment with the nurses who can never provide answer to your questions - they will listen for keywords in your conversation and repeat it back to you. The phone staff is very rude.

    a) You never get to see a doctor b) You are diagnosed by the receptionist, then by the assistant, and then by the nurse's nurse, and if you are lucky you get to see Registered nurse. c) Then and ONLY then if they think you are worthy and deserve to be seen by a doctor, they schedule an appointment with the doctors usually months from the time you are there. d) I have been going there for the last 9 months; I am yet to see the face of any of the doctors ? Always the assistant of the assistant of the nurse's nurse. e) Did I mention you never get to talk to a doctor? f) You are simply a number to inflate their pockets, co-pay is very high, and they want ALL in cash, or CCard. g) BTW ? In case I forgot ? You NEVER get to talk to a doctor, your money and your health issues are only worth to be seen by an assistant.

If getting in-and-out of a doctors office is more important than thorough explinations about your cancer - this is the place for you. Unfortunately for me, everytime I scheduled an appointment it seemed like a race to see how fast they could herd me through their cattle stations. They are fast, but they're surely not personable, nor do they really explain WHY they've required to you pay your $30 copay for a 2 minute sit down with your doctor. Not bad, they get the job done - just don't expect to be offered too much extra information here... If you don't ask, they don't tell.

I am a returning patient of Texas Diabetes and Endocrinology. I too have autoimmune thyroid disorder. I called to schedule an appointment after my heart rate sat at 150 for about an hour one evening. I was told not one of the doctors in the group could see me until April, 08. It was October, 07 when I called. I was offered an appointment with a physicians assistant, but even then, they couldn't get me in until a few days before Christmas. I think I understood thyroid function better than the last PA i saw there. Needless to say, these episodes are serious. I'm finding a new doctor.

When I first went to Dr Blevins I was diagnosed with an auto immune thyroid disorder and was scared. He never rushed me and stayed with me until I had no more questions and was comforted again.
