This album is amazing through and through. But I challenge any human being whose ever been in love to listen to Black without coming to tears. Black is the embodiment of what music should be. Music is supposed to move us and make us feel something. I've been listening to this album since its release and I still come to tears every time I listen to Black some 18 years later. The song is so powerful it almost overcomes the listener. There is no other song I've ever heard from any other artist that so clearly takes a thought or feeling and passes it on to the listener. This album, and Black in particular, is the pinnacle of what music can and should be.

This was Pearl Jam's only good album and it's nothing stellar. Jermey is pretty good, Deep is a good song, Evenflow is good, Why Go is good the rest and every album after were just garbage, and Backspacer will prove that point perfectly if anyone has heard it yet, it's total puke. Nirvana, Soundgarden and Alice In Chains thats grunge, and even more so than grunge crap it's awesome music. Pearl Jam are posers.

I remember well when this one came out. MTV "fanboys" immediately switched from hard rock to the grunge bandwagon hailing pearljam and the other grunge raggers as the new thing. The fact is, if you listened to ten or watched the videos you'd be asking yourself "what am I missing here?" - the musicianship is atrocious, the songs plodding, the singer's voice is monotonous yet this band behaved like they were the Doors..give us a break please Luckily real rock music is now back and this kind of poserrock is now forgotten..same for soundgarden mudhoney stonetemple whatever...what a waste of air.....all those years..

Rightfully one of the 90's loudest rock attacks. For a brief moment, as Pearl Jam entered the scene with this blistering debut, they helped to usher arena rock into more thoughtful areas without loosing any of the aggression they proceeded to shed over the next twenty years.

Nevermind the '90s.The best selling albums of that decade are none too good. Most current popular albums are even worse. However, there's plenty of good sounds to be found if one puts some effort into searching. We're blessed to have nearly a hundred years of fantastic recorded music available on CD.If you like rock'nroll, I suggest starting with THE BEST OF MUDDY WATERS and/or HANK BALLARD & THE MIDNIGHTERS GREATEST HITS. If more modern sounds are your thing, check out FUN HOUSE by the STOOGES or THE VELVET UNDERGROUND AND NICO just for a start.

This makes my list of greatest albums of all time.  "Black", "Evenflow" and "Jeremy" are some of my picks, but every song on this album is worthwhile.  It was a staple in my collection in the era of grunge and continues to be today.

True, there are no bad songs on the album, but now Ten just sounds bad to me for no fault of its own: I think of it as spawning all the other fuzz guitar on the FM wasteland that I tune out from. Pearl Jam paid its dues to the best musicians of its day, such as Neil Young and Mike Watt, and was smart and socially engaged, but was also liked by fans and imitated by bands that weren't worthy of them. The price of success, I guess. This album has aged a lot.

Great album! Can't say enough about it. Great mix of songs. Really good lead and rhythm guitars throughout. Vocals are top notch. Above all, the lyrics are some of the best ever crafted!!

I never understood why 'nevermind' got all the critical plaudits. '10' is far superior in terms of musicality, musicianship and feel/atmosphere. I can think of few albums that have better opening tracks than this. Mike McCready is an underrated lead player and Jeff Ament is also one of the better rock bassists out there. Still their best album and definitely one of the very few 90s releases that has a classic quality.

The combination of raw, hard, jump out of your seat songs like Porch and evenflow combined with the time stopping slow oceans and release give this album the type of diversity and range seen by few albums.Just push play and enjoy

A very efficient first album showing the built-up potential that was eventually going to find its way out of the band. Took a while to grow on me, though - it's an outstanding collection of songs that seems to have no real fit as an album (Except for "Alive" and "Once" which are prequel and sequel in a three-song trio). However, I loved "Black" and "Jeremy" from the moment I first heard them, and "Evenflow" gets stuck in my head so much that there was a time for a while when I tried to hate the song (it didn't work, though). I think they've done better albums, but keeping in mind that this is a first album...it's great.

Along with Nevermind from Nirvana, this album proved that there was a serious uprising from Seattle that wanted to be heard and it did, knocking glam metal to the ground.

I must say I did start to turn on this album after what, the fifth video? though I did like the second album and some of the third (and haven't heard much after that), I'd have to say no wonder they hated getting famous cause it ruined them. the sound on this album, as well as the lyrics, were fresh, poetic and soulful. The sound was a great blend of sweet and mysterious. I'm sure this album will be considered a classic in 10 or 15 years.

“Black,” “Deep,” and “Release” are probably my favorite songs on what turned out to be one of the most impressive and influential debut albums of the early 90s. How many of the songs on “Ten” turned out to be huge radio hits? Three or four? There’s “Jeremy,” of course, “Even Flow,” and “Alive,” at least… It’s a shame Pearl Jam was so shell-shocked by the success of this CD that they’ve never been able and/or willing to put out something better. “Vs.” was excellent, and I liked “Yield,” but most of their other stuff doesn’t hold up.

This album is very good. It is solid the whole way through, with very few low points. All together it is a great listen. The songs are haunting and well constructed. It is definitely Pearl Jam's best album.

Another defining CD of an era that is no longer. This CD includes some of the classics, like "Jeremy," "Even flow," and "Alive." It rocks hard.

Pearl Jam's debut album has been hailed as the cornerstone of a revolution that brought back rock from its faded image and idealistic obsessed turn. True and powerful themes ring through songs like "Why," "Go," "Alive," "Porch," and "Oceans." This album has five musicians at their rocking best, with a mission to prove that you can say what you feel with no pretenses attached, and rock like hell at the same time.

Every song on this album is of supreme quality. I would never think of skipping even one. Eddie Vedder's powerful vocals lead the group to create the epic grunge rock album. Epitimizes the energy, spirit and attitude of the early 1990's.

Pearl Jam was one of the greatest bands in the early 1990's hardrock/grunge scene. And there is no doubt that Ten is their greatest album by far. The best track is "Alive" and the worst is "Once," though no song on the album can be considered bad.

Should be called the universal Pearl Jam album. Nearly everyone I've ever met owns at least this album. The music is soft yet compelling. The bridges between the music lifts and carries the listener to a new level.

One of the best CDs of the early 90's, it was quite revolutionary for its time, for the most part it has stood the test of time, and if you haven't heard it, and you like Pearl Jam's new stuff, the CD is definitely for you. It is one of those CDs that you just put in and listen all the way through, because none of the songs are bad.

I am a huge Pearl Jam fan and have seen them in concert 3 times. I own all their albums and out of all of them, Ten is definitely my favorite. Not only is it my favorite Pearl Jam album, it is also my favorite CD out of my whole collection of about 200. This is their first album and their best. My favorite tracks are Alive, Black, Porch, Release, Jeremy and Evenflow. There are so many good songs, you don't have to skip any, unlike some other Pearl Jam CD's. Every Pearl Jam fan must have this disk, and it is the perfect disc for someone not too familiar with Pearl Jam to buy and see how they like it.

Eventhough I grew out of the grunge rock from Seattle phase, I still listen to "Ten" every once in awhile. Black is my favorite song on it, very sad and beautiful. Pearl Jam is a band of talented musicians and Eddie Vedder's voice is like no other, very human sounding.

I'm so happy this was a choice because Pearl Jam is my favorite band. This is by far their greatest album! Every song is wonderful! My favorite song from "Ten" is probably "Black," (just felt like sharing). These boys are talented and though they've definitely evolved since "Ten" came out, they're still awesome!

One of a few CDs where every track is incredible. By far and away one of the best CDs of the 1990s. Just listening to the CD once shows a rundown of the bands versatile performances from "Black" to "Porch" to "Garden." Absolutely incredible CD.

I have gotten tired of Pearl Jam and can only look back at this album and say I enjoyed it briefly but cannot take it with me to the millennium. Maybe Pearl Jam needs time to come vintage before I can return to them.

Best CD in the grunge scene! Eddie Vedder at his best. The songs are well produced and thought provoking. The epitame of the early 90's rock scene. "Jermey" won video of the year in the 1992 MTV Music Awards, which shows how one good song turned into many great songs. It is great to listen to while making love. You can also listen to it while studying for mid-terms.

One of the top 5 albums made in the 90's. This was not grunge-it had musicianship. Thought provoking lyrics, and listening appeal. Yet they still managed to experiment and keep it interesting. You can never get tired of listening to it. One amazing album. Every song was great!

Ten is another album that orginated from the Seattle scene and should be up there with other grunge albums like Nevermind. "Evenflow" and "Jeremy" are awesome tracks and I love listening to this album. Eddie Vedder sounds really good, and in my opinion this is the best album Pearl Jam has to offer.

This was my first introduction album into Pearl Jam and since then I have become a huge fan. This album has all of the classic PJ songs like 'Jeremy', 'Alive' and one of my all time favorite PJ songs ever, 'Release me'. This is a great album to have in any music collection.

This is the band that broke it all open for me in the '90's. Nirvana was interesting, but Pearl Jam had talent. They know Hendrix stuff but presented it in a modern way. It was the soundtrack of the summer for us.

To understand PJ is to reunderstand their lyrics. PJ is revolutionary---ever gone to a concert---live they are breathtaking--the crowd is totally taken by the music and lyrics---Ten is a awsome work of artistic perfection and Eds voice makes the song yours.
