I was curious if "techno" dance is the same thing as Jumpstyle/Hardstyle or if it is just "dancing" to techno music.

It's funny you say that techno and trance is a bunch of stupid kids doing drugs and dancing with rave lights... Let's not forget #1 DJ ine the world Tiesto who played in the grand opening of Olympics a few years back. 3 billion people around the world were watching the event. He played for an hour straight. Tiesto, Paul Van Dyke, Oakenfold, ATB, BLank and Jones, etc.. all had top hits in all charts of the world, even American charts. I highly recommend above mentioned artists for decent trance/techno music.

I don't see why techno dancing always has to be associated with drugs... That is really stereo-typing! I love going to parties, in my neighbourhood there is one dj who almost always does techno, and wouldn't want it any other way... Techno dancing has got endless variations and is not so simple as you would think. You need to have a good sense of rythm for example. If you don't know what your talking about (like you, jason 1971), then don't talk at all...

Okay, ignorant people out there. Liquid is a very complex and dedicated dance style. It takes intense studying and balance and style to it. Those of you who think it l;ooks like some people are just waving thier arms around, here is some helpful advice, take your ass out of your head, take your eyes off the middle of the dance floor and away from all the cracked up candy kids and look in the dark places for the elite ravers who have spent their lives studying the art and then you can say that you know what liquid is!

I hate stereo-type narrow minded people. Here I thought there wasn't a dance called "techno". I come onto this website and they consider the dancing to "techno" music techno, how creative. I doubt most of the people rating this, even know what they are rating. There's many genres of "techno music" or electronic music and there's many types of dancing styles to each type of genre, some take a lot of talent and some take no talent. There is no limits. Its about expressing yourself, like a lot of dancing (unlike the simple memorization of steps, like line dancing or square dancing). It's simply ignorant to be so quick to criticize.

you know I really pisses me off when people diss techno....I have been studying the dance for some time and it takes a lot more cordnation and practice then most people give it credit for. It is a style of expression... and takes lots more then "druged up" indiviuals to master. It should be respected and given more credit. It is 2003... people need to own up to that and except that techno is here to stay...

There may not be anything fancy or technical about this form of dance, as you can pretty much do whatever the heck you want, but it sure is one of the most liberating feelings.

I thought breakdancing was the worst form of dance, this really rakes the cake. I've seen all forsm of Techno dancing, it really can't be narrowed down because I see one group of immature ecstasy-riddled kids doing their hands in funky motions and another set just move around like they're epileptic. It's utterly stupid.

Fluid...glowsticks...drugs...it doesn't get any better than this. How else can you totally lose yourself in music? This is what life is all about :)

I started really listening to house music when i was around 18. I've always been open to every kind of music/dance etc.... I have to say that when ur in the middle of the dance floor and you feel that bass pumpin with ur heart...it just makes u move to it like no other music can. It's all about energy. I REALLY HATE WHEN PEOPLE DANCE TO HOUSE LIKE THEY'RE DANCIN TO HIP- HOP. IT IS JUST NOT ACCEPTABLE.

dude...some of you need to CHILL!! It's just music, not life! it's meant for people to have fun and as an expression of the soul, not as an excuse to look down on other people, or dominate your life! so be happy and enjoy life!

"Techno" isn't a form of dance. You have many different steps inside electronic music ("Techno" is a sub-genre). There are some of the steps that get boring, but where my heart lies is in the house dancing. It is a very interesting style of music to dance to.

I live to dance to techno. I wouldn't say it's a knid of dancing, but dancing to it is awesome. It is aerobic, and limitless. I'll listen to hip-hop if I start collecting welfare checks.

Okay, there's really not much to say about this type of "dance". When they play it at a party, you don't really complain too much. However, when they keep playing it over and over and over again, I start getting dizzy. Literally. Besides, I don't really know how to dance it, so most of the time I end up sitting down and doing absolutely nothing. I find it quite boring...

Techno is the esaiest dance of them all, 'cause there ain't no rules. You make the dance, sort of. I love it, it's the dance I'm best at! :-)

I guess I'm getting old. Is "techno" really a kind of dance? It seems like most of the dances on this list have set routines of some kind, or at least they follow some kind of structure. I'd be curious to hear someone explain exactly what it looks like when someone is out there techno dancing. Then I'll get me some E, crank up the bass, find a warehouse party that starts at 2 in the morning, and give it a try.
