I used to feed this food to my dogs until the company lowered their standards (again) and this food caused diarrhea in my pets. Additionally, this food is owned by Diamond dog food company who has had more recalls than any other company; and recently, had recalls again on the east coast; while dogs I know got sick on this food recently on the West coast, got diarrhea, yeast infection and all kinds of stomach issues and infections. I don't find this food safe at all! I recommend rather Fromm surf n' turf and all the other lines of their excellent foods, who never once had a recall and all dogs I know of do very well on it! My dogs never had good digestion on this food, while on Fromm the digestion is excellent; the food is well-balanced, and safe; they do in-house lab tests so that no bad germs ever goes into a bag. Another great choice is Great life. These company produce human-grade foods and would never allow those issues to happen like with this food! I tried basically everything el... Read more

I had researched for quite some time which type of dog food I should get my dog after feeding him Purina for several months of his puppy hood. I stumbled upon Taste of the Wild and although it has a hefty price tag of about $42.00..it is worth it! I have an American Pit Bull Terrier who now has a super soft and shiny coat ever since we switched his food. Another amazing thing about this dog food is it is all natural no nasty grainy by products which means solid, healthy, dog poop! Yeah..kind of explicit but it's true. I would recommend this to anyone I ran into if you are looking out in the long run for your dog's health!

How much sodium does the taste of the wild salmon flavor have in it. The dry kind?

Taste of the Wild Dog? What, is this stuff produced in North Korea? It's likely their most important export. I'm sure that the majority of these positive reviews in fact come from functionaries of the "dear leader". They probably feed this stuff to their political prisoners.

There's a picture of a moose, a pheasant and a bear on the bag, but if you look at the the label the only wild animals you will see listed in the ingredients are squirrel, racoon and Lindsey Lohan. Seriously though, did it not occur to them to maybe focus test the brand name?

I'm sure this would go over big in North Korea. I have never tasted a Wild Dog, and I don't plan on doing it anytime soon.

I've recently started feeding my dog Taste of the Wild to mix it up a bit - he has had multiple seizures since switching to this food. He is an 8 year old french bulldog with no history of seizures. I am now switching to a homemade diet.

Am in Canada just across the border from Detroit, Mi., and there's ONE huge problem!! Costs me $82 (out the door) for a 30Lb. bag here in town, YET, if I go just outside of Detroit, to the 13 mile/Mound area, I have acquired 3-30Lb. bags for $100...SO?? Who's taking advantage of who, one wonders?? Is it the company themselves?? Is it their representative(s) in Toronto area?? Is it the stores that sell the product?? I know one thing for sure..I checked with EVERY federal and provincial agency that has anything to do with importation of dog food into Canada, and, I also touched base with Canada Border Security, a number of custom's brokers, and, several trucking companies...there is NO way any of us should be paying what we do for "Taste Of The Wild"!!!!!!!! I for one don't appreciate getting screwed over by whoever is at fault, whether it's the company, their representatives, and/or the stores that sell their product!!!!

A Great Dane breeder recommended that I try this food for my dog. My Dane loved the food, but it had too much protein and he started to lean forward as his back legs could not support his weight since he was growing too quickly. My older dog was gagging on this food. My other puppy seemed to like the food, but I stopped buying it since my other dogs couldn't eat it. The dogs liked the way it tasted and the ingredients seemed good. My dogs did well on the canned food, but it was too expensive.

I've been feeding my wolf hybrids this for 1yr my one named "Bear" use to eat his poop put him on the salmon flavor he stopped eating his poop and his coat sparkles as if he's is wet I decided to try the Bison flavor and he started eating poop again so went back on the salmon. So we will stick with the salmon flavor his breath isn't the best but better than smelling poop on his breath.

I have been using TOTW for nearly 2 years and have nothing but good to say. My dog Buster is incredibly healthy, has a great coat, plenty of energy and his stool is good. All 4 flaovors are used in his rotation with equally good results. I did confirm there is no ethoxyquin used at all. My confidence in this product could not be higher. I hope when reading these reviews people look at the big picture and realize that dogs are different and a food which works well with one dog may be terrible for another dog. That does not mean there is an issue with the food.

I have 2 siberian huskies after trying 3 other puppy foods a natural pet store told us about TOTW. After they would eat TOTW they both drank tons of water then they would throw up. Throughout the day their poop would have blood in it also runny and would stink plus they would go 5 times more then before. Everyday was a clean up in their crates I never had problems before crate training them. My vet did not recomend this food she said they were in perfect health. I've read other dogs having the same problems I have also read huskies having problems with many dog foods. I would never recemend this food to any one. If you care for your dog stay away from TOTW!!!!!!!!!!!Priced way too high for the problems I have had with my snow buddies!!!

I just started my two Yorkies on TOTW Pacific Stream. I chose this one because it had less fat and my female doesn't handle high fat food well. They have only been on this food for about a week but I can already see a huge difference. It is almost to good to be true. My 2 year old female has always had food issue since the day I brought her home. The breeder had her on Purina One. She would eat a food for a couple of weeks and then suddenly stop. I couldn't figure out what was going on. I have tried lots of "so called" high quaility foods. Even Royal Canine prescription food and she has had problems with them all. I hadn't done any research when I bought this food, I just knew it was time to go grain free. I went to the local Tractor Supply and read every dog food label in the ailse. I spent at least 30 minutes deciding what to buy. I narrowed it down to Blue Buffalo and TOTW. I chose TOTW because the BB was 18.99 for a 5 or 6# bag. So far, I have been really happy with my choice. ... Read more

I absolutely love this food. I use it for my Harlequin male Great Dane. Since 12 weeks of age we noticed that he had diarrhea (he continued to have this for a YEAR EVERY SINGLE DAY) in that year we tried eukanuba, canidae, nature's recipe, blue buffalo, wellness, among others, we also did the raw diet. the only thing that worked was the raw diet but was too expensive. Taste of the Wild has literally been a huge miracle for him. He doesn't have any stool problems, he doesn't eat nearly as much as other foods need him to, his coat and skin are amazing, he never itches, I mean I could just go on and on and on about the benefits of this food. I also rotate every bag I get a different formula as to keep a healthy rotation of protein sources and we don't have a single problem. Almost 80% of my friends on the great dane forums (www.dolforum.com for any dane owners) use and recommend this food. Just today we bought it for our cats as well and all four of them LOVE it. I use it now for ... Read more

I give it a big plus for no grains. Unfortunetly the TOTW Pacific Stream Formula didn't work for my 7 month old rhodesian ridgeback. I've noticed him licking his paws and biting nails, he seemed to be itchy, was pooping six times a day and drinking more water than usually. It was a sign of an allergy so I switched him to Acana ( same company as Orijen, just less proteins for dogs who can't handle Orijen). Even though the Taste of The Wild seems to be a really good food, I'm not so sure about the preservatives ( ethoxyquin in particular). Finding the perfect food may be trial-and-error, so hang in there!

Highly allergic boxer is doing great on this food? After being on Natural Balance Sweet Pot and Fish for a long time, decided to give her something else to switch up diet and give her different nutrients. I'm a believer of food rotation for nutrients. You'll notice all my trial and error post with her and her allergies. Ongoing, learning. Although my non allergic dog is not doing well on this. He's drinking water like crazy on this food. Just emailed manufacturer/taste of wild to find out exactly what the salt content is, the %. Also their poop really stinks on this food, and they poop a lot on this food. I don't really care about that, I just want them to be healthy. Just concerned about the salt content of the Pacific Stream Dry Dog Food formula. I have to say they both love the flavor of Pacific Stream. I like that it's protein is lower. The one dog has stomach upset and can not absorb protein well. I've had him off the Natural Balance for only 3 days after mixing b... Read more

Taste Of The Wild Sierra Mountain has been a life saver for my 15 month old Golden Retriever. My Golden has allergies and can not handle alot of ingredients that are in normal dog foods. I love the fact that this particular taste of the wild formula has only 1 main source of protein - Lamb , Lamb Meal - Best Of All " No Chicken and No Ocean Fish Meal " - I have tried many high quality foods from - Natures Variety Instinct Raw , Instinct Kibble , Fromm Surf and Turf , Natural Balance , Pinnacle , etc... - They were all way too rich for my Golden Boy and made him itch and scratch and bite himself and lick his rear area as well. The only one I can say I had pretty good luck with was the Natures Variety Instinct Rabbit Meal Kibble - The only thing I did not like about this food was he had really dark and very stinky stools - I mean clear the room stools and his stools were not always consistent may have been to rich of a food for him. Anyway I also did not like the fact that natures variet... Read more

I rate this food 5 stars. The 15/30lb bag are at a decent price I'n my nearby feedstore. I was feeding my poms evo turkey and chicken and my bulldogge innova adult. I was doing my research and decided to go with taste of the wils with no grains but without all the high percentage of protein. All three of my dogs loved the food and they always ask for more. Love that it is grain free and still affordable. Going to pick up another bag today! Marian Dam.

5 stars I have had my 2yr old lab on this food since she was 9 weeks old. Her coat is so beautiful. She shines and looks great. People stop me and ask me frequently what do you feed that dog. I think his is wonderful dog food. I have told lots of people to try this food. It has shown on there dogs coats as well. I think that is all the proof I need. Love it. I feed the High Prairie Bison & Venison. I have always tried to feed the best dog food I could afford. I am very happy with this food.

Orijen is of much higher quality than TOW. Orijen uses tons of fresh meat, and they just took out some of the meals, so protein is lower and more suitable for most dogs. Not to mention that Orijen is extruded at 190 degrees, so it actually retains its value of all the fruits, veggies and botanicals, where as most dog foods all the nutrients of these things get cooked right out and has no value. TOW is also a food owned and made at diamond pet foods (google diamond pet foods). This company has more recalls and has killed more dogs than any other manufactoring plant known to man. I would be careful when using TOW as I think the recalls could hit again at any other time. Other foods made at diamond include, Natural Balance, solid gold, canidae, premium edge, diamond, artamis, chicken soup and many others. BEWARE.

I just started my 6 month old German Shepherd on TOTW High Prairie formula a few days ago and I couldn’t be more pleased. Sam has not had any bad reactions to the new food and he absolutely loves it. His energy level has definitely increased…..he usually has a nap after our 30 min run every morning but now I have to run him a bit longer to burn up the extra energy. Ive also noticed his coat is getting softer too. I was worried about changing his diet but I transitioned slowly and haven’t had one issue(his poops are still normal). The best part is I have noticed I dont have to feed as much of this as I did his old food so the extra $ I spent is actually a better value. I am lucky enough to have a local store that carries this food so it is also convenient and they carry all of the formulas so I can switch his food once in awhile. I can’t say one negative thing about this food. 2 thumbs up. Thank You TOTW.

At this time this is my rating on TOTW . Just like another review person here my dog drinks lots of water after eating this product and it's been on going. Thanks to them stating that here, now I realize it's her food. Also, Canola Oil isn't healthy...http://breathing.com/articles/canola-oil.htm the truth about this is finally leaking out, and I have address this with the company, but I am still after two week waiting to hear back. I have gluten problems so I agree that no animal should have grains and that includes GMO rice and corn. We are hearing more and more the truth about wheat, rye, barley...etc....with the problems they are causing in humans and animals and they are link to over 300 illnesses. It may make sense to why animals are getting more and more of human diseases. I have to thank sites like http://www.mercola.com and http://www.glutenfreesociety.org for getting out much needed information. Our foods (animals too) are being poisoned and we really need to sta... I have a 7 month old Rottweiler and have tryed 2 different kinds of dog food. Both were high grade foods. My rottie would only eat half of his food at a time and his coat was very dry and flakey, and he itched alot. After purchasing the Taste of the Wild "Sieara Mountain Roasted Lamb" He scarfed down his whole dinner and went looking for more. After 2 feedings he now has the glossy sleek coat that a rottweiler is known for and he is not as gasy as was before. I would highly recomend this product to anyone. The price is very comparable to the commercial high end foods at petsmart and petco and this is a lot better product espicially because it is grain free and all natural.

Honestly, I don't know what it is with people these days and their dog's food. I read so many reviews before purchasing my dog's first food and i just can't seem to find one that's acceptable. Everytime I search a dog food such as Taste of the Wild, Acana, Orijen, etc., they seem amazing from some reviews and like terrible with others. I just can't decide! My 17 week year old Cock-A-Poo started off with Royal Canin's Puppy 33 (a bag came with her when I got her) She started having diarreah, throwing up bile and other minor things. I am sure this is because she was a puppy, but after several grueling days of research, I decided upon Taste of the Wild. She is 17 weeks now and I am planning on switching up Taste of the Wild to Orijen. Taste of the Wild has had immense success with my dog. Her coat is shinier, her energy level is high and she has not once thrown up or had diarreah since switching. One thing I did notice is that her pee smelled TERRIBLE, but I am a new dog owner therefor... Read more

An excellent all-purpose dog food, chock full of real vegs, fruit, natural oils and anti-oxidants, and real meat not by-products. Grain-free, high protein. Priced mid-high. Both our German Shepherd and Alaskan Husky groove on it. Coats, eyes, stamina (high mileage mutts), weight, nails and organ function all 95th percentile. Big chunks slow down their eating. In our opinion, it far exceeds some of the more expensive foods like Van Patten, Chicken Soup, Solid Gold, Nutro, Diamond, and Royal Canin. And of course, the drek sold as dog food by Science Diet, Eukanuba, Purina and Iams should keep those guys awake at night with guilt. Why feed your dog that when you can give them real nutritious food -- like a Big Mac every day... Awful stuff. Save money on marketing and make a superior product at a competitive price and the marketplace should reward you. Taste of the Wild is what a smart, healthy, athletic dog would order at a restaurant each day. I bet this food is better than w... Read more

I fed my Rhodesian Ridgeback Orijen (mixed with various canned varieties of Merrick) for almost the last two years, and honestly, he's done wonderfully on it. However, since I work at a pet store, feeding an 80 pound Rhodey Orijen twice a day is somewhat less than economically friendly for me. I've been joking around with coworkers and customers for some time that my dog doesn't need his food manufactured in a human grade facility. I'm not eating the stuff so make it in a dog grade facility and drop the bloody price! Our pet store recently started selling Taste of the Wild, and I couldn't believe the price of this grain free food! I switched him to the Wetlands variety (still mixed with the Merrick canned 'cause, hey, he loves it) and his coat, stool, energy levels, and overall health are just as good as they were when he was on the more expensive Orijen. And best of all, perhaps, is he loves the taste of it. Even with the Orijen, when I brought home a sample bag of it, he sniff... Read more

After a rough week (stomach problems) of slowly switching him from Science Diet to Taste of the Wild he is now happy healthy and nearly gas free. Unless Mom gives him to many cookies... Not only is his gas almost gone but his coat and his energy are amazing. Thank You TotW for making such a great product!

I feed 2 Bostons, 4 Yorkies and 5 Westies TOTW. It gives my dogs beautiful coats, good stools and energy. While it does have some fillers, it is an good food. Not all dogs do good on grain free foods, but most do. When it comes to food for all my dogs, the price does not matter. But the quailty does. In my opinion a breeder should use the best food, no matter what it costs. Just this breeders opinion :)

Personally, I really love and adore everything about this unique and appealing pet food brand. It's grain-free, holistic, and everything from the superb quality ingredients to the snazzy, artistic design catches my desired attention. I've used it both on my cats and dog, and from my experience, they've done exceedingly well on this particular kibble. From the taste to the smell, I've not had any problems, and my little furbabies really thrive eating this food. It's cost effective, as well, and while slighter more expensive, won't put a crater hole in your wallet. While I would not say they are above par, or equal, with the competitive likes of Orijen and EVO (Innova), it is still a very excellent quality-made food; with both the consumer and his/her companion animal's needs, benefits and satisfactions in mind. I would continue purchasing this product, as I am very satisfied.

The High Prairie product demonstrates that high quality protein can be formulated in a commercial dog food product. Dog health is highly dependent on diet and while the big brands supplement important nutrients into their formulations the lack of high quality protein sources will stress your dog's health. The canines we have seen being feed High Prairie Canine with Roasted Bison & Roasted Venison have had all healthy blood work.

I've had my five dogs on TOTW for about a year and am pretty happy except for the particularly stinky flatulence from two of them since the switch. Not sure if I will continue to use TOTW or switch to another non-grain formula to see if that improves the dog farting situation. My BIG question is about the comment below from a reviewer who said this brand uses downed and diseased animals. Will someone from the company please address this and tell me whether this is true and give some details about sources of meat for TOTW?

Our German Shepherd for some weird reason lost about 10 lbs....was chasing his tail....itching his rear and his coat had gotten dull and his tail was not the glorious tail it was at first. We were heart sick. He just refused to eat but maybe a 1 cupful of dried kibble a day and this was the SAME dry kibble he had been on since a young pup (he is only 9 months old now) He has been eating Iams and just stopped eating almost completely. I was desperate. The vet just shook his head and said well he did look pretty bad. I needed to find a dog food with lots of fat in it. I looked closely at Taste of the Wild at Tractor Supply. I thought man it is expensive! Bought a 10 lb bag and held my breath! He looked up as if to say well why didn't you bring this home before mom? He ate every last drop of the 4 cups I put down. I also added salmon oil to the top of his Taste of the Wild and within two weeks worth of doing this we saw a huge change in his whole body! His coat began to shine... Read more

My 10 year old lab for quite some time now has been having skin problems, a dull coat, and his arthritis has gotten worse quick. I have tried every kind of food available in our area, and the problems persisted. Even little tips from the vet did not work. He was put on an arthritis medicine that I found out later has a history of causing death in older labs. I refused to give him any more of that. I did some online research, and found that Taste of the Wild dog food had a very high rating. I bought a bag the 3rd of August, and began the transition from his old food over to Taste of the Wild. I can honestly say after two weeks of feeding him this dog food, he has gotten somewhat better. He is a bit more agile and energetic, his coat has a beautiful sheen to it, and the skin problems have cleared up. He is still eating Taste of the Wild mixed with his old dog food, to get him adjusted to it. The only problem I had with the transition was a few days of diarrhea. That in part was my fault ... I LOVE this food, and so do my dogs. As a Golden Retriever breeder, I have fed Eukanuba for years, since it seems to be what everyone else is feeding. Earlier this year, all my dogs started losing their coats, losing energy, and just generally being less healthy. I started TOTW with just 2 dogs, as a sort of trial. WOW! What a difference! I now have all my dogs on Taste of the Wild and am very pleased with there condition. I would recommend only the Pacific Stream variety for adult large breed dogs, because of the high protien content in the Prairie and Wetlands varieties- these varieties are better suited to puppies, or dogs doing strenuous work such as showing or hunting.

This is probably the best food you can get for the least amount of money. The ingredients are phenominal. My dog loves it on top of that. Probably the most affordable grain-free food I've been able to find. I've tried the High Prairie, which is the redmeat-based(bison,beef,venison), formula, loved it, now we are on wetlands which is the poultry based formula(duck, turkey, chicken), and the pacific stream which is their fish formula is next on my list for sure. My 11 year old dog is eating this and looks like a puppy. I'm so happy they make a economical grain-free food for cats too! Since we know how much pricier cat food is than dog, yet it's the exact same price. Applause for TOTW!

MY DOG LOVES IT, SHE BEGGS FOR IT, FINISHES HER DINNER AND LICKS THE BOWL CLEAN. THIS IS AMAZING, I HAVE NEVER FOUND A DOG FOOD WHICH SHE LIKED SOO MUCH. Really, like a photo from a AKC breed guide! He seems to enjoy the taste. No coat or skin issues. And an increase in energy, probably due to the higher protein content. Even with his sensitive stomach, I can switch formulas without the nasty side effects. Great food at a great price!
