Tue Sep 15 2009I used to love watching these shows. I enjoyed the one where Christopher Reeve was serving steaks to people that were made out of people. I liked the one where the old man paid to get a young man's body parts. I also liked the one about the funeral home owner. He killed his nephew and then the nephew returned from the grave and killed his uncle. I liked the Crypt Keeper too. He was creepy. These episodes were both scary and entertaining. I give Tales From The Crypt a 5 star rating.

Thu Oct 23 2008It's ok, but what worked in a Cold-War 1950's comic book...and worked magnificently...doesn't necessarily translate to 1990's cable-TV series. I'd probably appreciate the series more if I had never read the original comics on which it's based, but I do own the entire hardcover re-prints that were published some decades ago by Russ Cochran, and the earlier movies that were based on it as well as the cable series just don't measure up. To give the show its due, they do seem to try and adhere to the manic and sardonic spirit of the originals, with varying results. Some of the episodes are well-done; others just seem to drag and never come to gruesome life like the originals did (it is something of a kick, though, to see people like Don Rickles and Iggy Pop in a horror series). The makers of the series are to be commended for trying to revitalize the horror genre by going back to one of its most creative and powerful sources (there's a lot of stuff in the original E.C. comics that's been u... Fri Jan 18 2008A love letter to bad horror. Kind of a watered-down with gore Alfred Hitchcock knockoff.

Mon Sep 18 2006I want to love this show more than I do, because it had a promising opening with classic music and a very, very funny Crypt Keeper. Unfortunately, most of the episodes I saw were more crime drama and suspense than horror, and I was expecting grizly, gory, greusome, state of the art horror. Some very good episodes...and some disappointing ones.

Mon Mar 20 2006It was entertaining. I enjoyed this show. I really miss Tales From the Darkside, though. That was my favorite "scary" show.

Tue Mar 30 2004I always loved catching this show late at night. The stories were usually good, but of course the best part of the show was the Crypt Keeper himself. He was quite good. Makes me think that ABC should ditch Oprah and bring in the Crpyt Keeper.

Fri Jul 11 2003Oh yes! Loved this show. It was very enjoyable to see what would happen on each of these short shows. Gotta love that Crypt Keeper (even if he did remind me of my friends ex-husband. LOL)

Sun Mar 02 2003Very crazy stories that allowed you to forget about reality and take a trip into craziness, much like classic Twilight Zones. Who cares about the likelihood of the show’s plots, just appreciate it as great fantasy story telling.

Sun Feb 09 2003This show was a lot better than Tales From the Darkside. The Crypt Keeper was the best! The comics were better, though.

Sat Apr 06 2002I think this show holds up better than Tales from the Darkside. They weren't all good of course but some of them were suprisingly good.

Tue Jul 03 2001I wouldn't put this one in the same class as "Tales from the Dark Side" - a Zone wannabee. Mostly because I don't think they were really taking themselves all that seriously. From what I remember, they had a rather raw cutting tongue-in-cheek humor thing going on. The animated rotting corpse was also pretty state of the art for the day as I recall. Fairly witty and unique, though gruesome in its concept. But, when you considered the show in its entirety it had a lot in common with the Tonight Show - the first few minutes were more than likely the best you would ever be able to expect.
