They were good pop/ soul, but a far cry from a "blues" group.

Must be confusing the legend Billie Holiday with the diva Diana Ross. One Lady Sings the Blues, the other plays one.

Calling the Diana Ross led 60s Girl Group BLUES is like calling Irene"Granny Clampet" Ryan Motown R & B.

I like the Supremes, but they're not Blues musicians. They're not even close. Put them on the right list and I'll give them 4 stars.

Blues? Really? They only occassionaly squeeked into Rhythm and Blues territory. They were a pop oriented girl group that flirted with R&B and Soul without ever going all the way. And if Twansalem needs help, I can clarify the definition of Girl Group for him.

Until I read the description, I thought for a moment that the list maker meant the fairly obscure mid '50s New Orleans vocal group: The Supremes were: Harry Golphin – first tenor, lead Wil ‘Dalas’ Hubbard – first tenor, second tenor, lead James Lay – second tenor, baritone, lead Eranious Murray – piano, second tenor, baritone, bass, lead They weren't bad.

The Supremes were the bomb in the 60's. They made some great music that remains classic to this day. They had the poise, the glamour and the "sound". They may seem corny buy today's standards, but the girls were groundbreaking in their heydey. People still resent Diana Ross for leaving the group. I always felt Diana Ross "was" the supremes. Without her unique look and voice, the Supremes would not have been as successful as they were.

What the #%&%?!!! Since when did the Supremes do BLUES??? They did Motown Pop,Soul or R&B.; This music has none of the grit or raw emotion of the Blues with it's sappy, sentimental sound.

They were very good. Say what you want about Diana, but she has a voice like a nightingale's.

Mary, Flo, Cindy, Jean, Lynda, Scherrie and Susie deserve the same recognition as Diana.

They, believe it or not, were actually the second best selling group of the 1960s (behind the Beatles)! That is really an accomplishment. I am a fan of Diana Ross. They really had a lot of good songs in their day.

Diana Ross and The Supremes were THE GIRL GROUP of the 1960's. No other group came close to their class, star power, and just plain fun. When Diana Ross and her backup singers Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard/Cindy Birdsong came out and cooed "Where Did Our Love Go", "Baby Love", "Come See About Me", Stop In The Name Of Love", etc. the crowd went wild. Twelve number one hits in a row. That's quite an accomplishment. "I Hear A Symphony" and "Reflections" are two of my all time favorites. I can remember as if it were yesterday seeing Diana Ross and The Supremes doing their "Supremes At The Copa" act at the University of South Carolina. The college crowd loved them.

I grew up listening to the supremes and really enjoy all of her songs. Her "Ultimate Collection" album wraps up the best of the best!

I much prefer the Ronettes...or even The Crystals. The Ross vs. Wilson battles of recent years have resulted in some abysmal versions hitting the road pretending to be the real Supremes.

One of the additional benefits of being a rocker in the sixties, is you had the great Motown music for belly rubbing dancing with your baby. Motown and rock, the sixties were great. Mary Wells, Marhta Reeves, and the Supremes, the avant guard for the Motown girls.
