    a. Stone Mountain is a terrific attraction. The General Lee carving into the mountainside is spectacular. The numerous other attractions and facilities make it an excellent get away. It is also a very family friendly place, and is located about an hour to an hour and a half from the heart of Atlanta.

I really had an excellent time both times I have been here.Actually I was more impressed with Stone Mountain than Mount Rushmore. The laser light show is worth staying til' dark for too.Just a good overall experience.

Ignore the hysterical, hypersensitive PC comments. The carving is a remarkable work and the park is very pretty. It can be very crowded on weekends.

I visited Stone Mountain just before the Peach Bowl in 2002. It was absolutely beautiful! I'm from the north, and seeing Stone Mountain really gives you understanding as to why the South has so much pride in itself. The mountain itself is beautiful, and the surroundings of it were awesome. It is a must see when visiting Georgia.

Stone Mountain...I was there for a swim meet this summer. The place is amazing. If a person squints in the sun to look at the mountain, their eyes will soon be wide open. You look up at Stone Mountain, and you automatically know that this is what REAL beauty is like. Whoever carved out that picture on the side of the mountain, the one of Gen. Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and Jefferson Davis, can honestly call themselve an artist. Back to that swim meet I mentioned earlier...I had to swim a long-distance freestyle race. By the sixth lap, I was exhausted (the race was 800 yds). But when I lifted my head out of the water for a breath, I inhaled the wonderful scent of Stone Mountain Park. Just that smell gave me the energy I needed to finish, and I won my race. Thanks, Stone Mountain! Take care, everyone!

There is not whole lot to do here but enjoy nature. It offers a very interesting view of Southern history. If you have little kids, they will enjoy this attraction very much.

I think St. Mt.'s an alright place. It's not much to do there whenever I go but its so pretty. The perfect place for family get togethers of a date. The histroy is not too interesting to me though. I mostly like it 'cause its pretty.

Stone Mountain Park has given visitors many more things to do than in the past. The first time I visited the park, which was in the late 1980's, about the only thing to do was walk up the mountain and ride the "Cable Car" to overlook the park. Now, with the addition of new attractions, Stone Mountain is definitely a place in Atlanta worth visiting.

Stone Mountain Park is a capitalist, money-making rip off out to exploit the history of the South while minimizing the racism that has been present at the Stone Mountain site.

There's a little island at Stone Mountain you can get to by driving over a covered bridge, and it's a great place to take your dog for some exercise. On the weekends it's a little crowded, but usually you can walk around in the woods without being bothered by other people.
