If you love garlic, then you'll love the stinking rose. They have their garlic mixture on the table to have with bread and I think our group of 4 ate it all! Everything was so good, but be warned, don't even think about going to a bar or club afterwards. Just go home :)

A group of us went for my husbands birthday and we had to ask for a second bottle of wine. The server did not follow-up after the food was delivered, and he never told us that we could not make separate checks.

My wife and son loved their slab-o-prime rib. My 40 clove chicken was better then great. This is our third trip, 60 miles to Beverly Hills, just for the Stinking Rose and we'll do it again and we will take friends. Since we have all worked at the Garlic Festival several times, we have a great affinity for garlic and the Stinking Rose. Try the 40 clove chicken!!!

Business lunch. 2 lasagna, 1 meatloaf, 1 halibut. Others at the table seemed to enjoy their food. Halibut was INEDIBLE. Couldn't cut it with a fork and had to saw it with a knife. Huh? Waiter never asked how the food was, nor did he inquire why it was basically untouched when he finally appeared at the end of lunch. Would definitely have sent it back but didn't want to make a fuss while dining with clients. $24.95 for the absolute WORST piece of fish I have ever been served.

The stinking rose was awesome!! The atmosphere is wonderful, service is great and the food is yummy and full of garlic!! As you would assume, if you are a garlic fan you will LOVE the stinking rose. Prices are a little up there but you get what you pay for and everything about this place was great! Very much worth the buck!

The valet service was a bit annoying and I'm not sure they all know how to drive. There is a $4.50 valet service charge which I find ridiculous since we're eating at the restaurant, but I guess that's just the way it is. We were immediately sat in a quaint little table with curtains, which were great for some privacy. It definitely made the entire experience seem much more initimate when you are not staring at your neighboring table the whole time. The decor is kitchy and interesting to say the least and a definite conversational piece. The server took his time coming to our table and seemed annoyed when asked for suggestions. Needless to say, he looked miserable and I am fairly certain he hates his job. Our food was pretty good though, definitely better than expected. We split a ceaser salad to start, which came out quickly after we ordered. I had the vegetarian lasagna as my entree. Decent portion, good flavor, but a little too salty. I didn't find my food to be garlicky at... Read more

Went here on a date with my girl. (As it appeared 75% of the other patrons did on this Friday night... lots of couples.) Anywayz, the garlic bread to start off with was good, and the menu was ok (a little short with few options for me) but I could deal. The real problem I had with this place was two-fold. 1) The prime rib I ordered had nothing to do with garlic, and 2) my entire dinner took 30 minutes. If I'm paying $100 for dinner and drinks for two people the least an establishment could do is let me enjoy my meal. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate a hot plate and a quickly cooked meal. But my appetizers came out 2 minutes after I ordered them, and were scooped up 10 seconds after I finished them... only to have my entree immediately following suit. As for the garlic... I was expecting tons of interesting things done with it. Instead, they had garlic bread, and a garlic fondu (which i had, and was pretty good.) But the calamari I could have eaten anywhere, and the prime rib... Read more

My fiancee and I missed our reservation at the Ivy... I've heard great things about " the Stinking Rose" so decided to go for lunch. The service was good - the complimentary bread was very tasty, Garlic fries were so yummy - My fiancee' loved them. We had the double shrimp & double crab legs, it was the right amount of garlic... it was very good. I'm pregnant and don't find taste in food right now... So I was very pleasantly surprised. I saw a lot of reviews about the saltiness... Good thing I read them after I went 'cause that would have definitely stopped me from going. I use very little salt and was very glad my food was NOT SALTY!!! All in all great experience!!! Loved it!!

Watch out for the crab cakes, or should I say the salt cakes; although I think I did detect a hint of a crab meat taste from the mess of crab meat loosely held together with what I can only hope was some kind of breading. We started with the roasted garlic special appetizer. I've roasted garlic myself, and hardly recognized the mushy, pre-digested stuff floating in a pan of hot olive oil that arrived at the table. I had the pork chop accompanied by what I think were intended to be mashed potatoes and a few, mushy, terribly sweet reminiscences of apple slices. My partner has jumbo prawns; they were large and even though quite dry, tasted like prawns. At the front desk we were met by someone's teenage daughters who didn't have a record of our reservation on the steno's pad page they were working from. but who kindly found us a forlorn little table nestled between two large tables of Asian teenagers celebrating birthdays. DON'T GO THERE IF YOU'RE OVER 23 OR LOOKING FOR GOOD FOOD OR NICE A... Read more

If you love garlic, which I do, this is a good place. But The food it toooo salty!, I had the Zuppa Di Pesce - fish soup and felt the salt was to hide the fishy fish. The worst part was the service, they were fine to get to the table, at least 4 different servers, one main waiter, but by the time to order desert- no one around, then the bill, same deal. very slow. prices are a bit high for what you get, and the worst part is their valet parking-took forever to bring the car, they don't help you in your car and watching them park other cars was unnerving, made me wonder if any of the valets even had drivers licenses.

I went here for Valentines Day because my friend had raved about this restaurant. The atmosphere was fine and the aroma was great. I really enjoy the garlic aroma. We started off with the garlic fries and they were very yummy! As an entree, I had the spicy shrimp pasta and boy was it spicy. It was a little bit too spicy for me. The shrimp pasta was mediocre. My husband had the Garlic Braised Boneless Short Rib. Both dishes were a bit too salty. My husband had to drink plenty of water while eating his dish. Overall, I would recommend ordering the garlic fries but not the other two dishes that we had.

My girlfriend wanted to try this place, so we went there after a long drive. Food really was not very good. Overpriced and not very tasty. The meat seemed like it was old. Sauces were heavy and salty. Would have been OK for half the price. I had valet parked my car. The day after, I noticed a long gash along my rear fender. Seemed like it was reamed by someones bumper. I'm sure it was the Stinking Rose's valet parkers as I'm sure this damage was not there before. Those guys did not seem careful with the car when they took it from me. That place is stinking, to be sure. Don't go, but if you do, take the bus!

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday - I already knew we were going to dine here beforehand. I came into the restaurant with certain expectations because of all the rant this restaurant gets for the "garlic-ness." The service wasn't that great - I was having a romantic moment with my boyfriend as we were holding hands across the table, and then the server just busted in "prime rib medium rare" with no regard to the occasion at all. I thought that was rude and spoiled the moment entirely. I don't suggest this place for a special occasion or a special date - it's more like just a place to dine for fun and on a night out on the town.

I went for dinner at the Beverly Hills location and got my car valet. The food was decent, expected more though. The next day I was driving my car, and noticed the front fender was scraped and starting to fall off. I told the valet manager about it and he said to send documentation and what not. I did all that and was never responded back to or reimbursed for the damages the valet guy caused. I will never go back here again.

My brother decided to have his 21st birthday dinner at the Stinking Rose after hearing about it from friends and watching a special on the Food Network about it. I had never heard of it so came to the internet to see what people were saying. The reviews made me nervous...people either loved it or hated it. Thank God our group feel into the LOVED IT category! My parents and I arrived before our reservations and since they wont seat you until your whole party is there, we decided to get drinks in the bar. The atmosphere of the place is just awesome with old hollywood pictures EVERYWHERE! The drinks were good (a bit over priced but come on its L.A. what do you expect) and once our whole party arrived we were seated right away. Our waiter was wonderful and very helpful as this was everyones first time at the Stinking Rose. The food was incrediable! I heard so much about this restaurant and I am a lover of garlic as are my parents, so for their 28th anniversary I thought I'd take them somewhere nice. Bad idea... Sunday evening very hot outside and the a/c is not working!!!! ok not their fault i suppose, we'll get through the night. Waiter with barely undertstandable english refuses to move us from what seemed to be the hottest spot in the place. finally after convincing a manager we were moved, the place was practically empty mind you. so we get through the seating, order drinks. I order the pineapple mojito and recieve a glass of pineapple juice! (literally) the waiter dissappears for about 15 minutes and when he returns he apologizes and returns 15 minutes later with the terrible attempt at a classic and simple drink, a mojito?? not even close. Trying not to let all this get to me and trying to convince my parents this place is great we proceed to order our meals. My father orders the garlic crusted ribs, my mother orders the pr... The four of us (all different ages & tastes)decided after reading the reviews that this place sounded like a fun & unique place w/good food. All started off well, great waitress. We started w/ the roasted garlic in oil.Much to our suprise it was served with soft rolls instead of crustinis. It had no flavor. We moved onto the shrimp skillet,It looked bad,but we tried it,overcooked dried out & bland. We moved onto the lightly breaded asparagus spears they were good ,but they served them alone on a glass plate ,not drained ,not even a dipping sauce. After the starters we began to worry about how the expensive entrees that we ordered would taste.Well here they come ,we mistakenly ordered the large cut of prime rib med.cooked.It arrived bloody,& judging by the bite that I spat out onto the plate,It was stringy, tough, greasy ,cold & tasteless.(the very first time that beef was sent back to the kitchen, and requested nothing to replace it )The garlic potatoes that were served w/it looked old & the cre... If you do not like garlic, this is definitely not the restaurant for you. Everything is garlic here. A friend said that this is a restaurant that I have to try, and after eating here I have to agree. Something to know, the restaurant does not seat you unless your whole party is there. The place is set up with mini booths creating a private atmosphere while you eat. The staff is super efficient, and the food is fantastic. We had the mussel for appetizers and I had a the rabbit for the main course. Everything was was mouth-watering and with plenty of garlic. I even went so far as ordering a glass of their garlic wine. This is one experience that I can't wait to repeat. Too bad you do smell of garlic after that, but hey it is totally worth it.

This place is a lot of hype. I love garlic as much as the next person, but just because you put garlic in the food does not make it good. My bestfriend hated her garlic chicken. Her husband thought his steak was just okay. I thought my garlic pasta with prawns was pretty tasteless. I had to put a bunch of the fresh garlic on the table onto my pasta to give it a taste. We left pretty unsatisfied and would never want to go back. The service was good though.

When I went here I only tried the Lasagna (because I was feeling kind of basic). This was a mistake because their more creative stuff was amazing (I'm not saying mine wasn't good but I really want to go back and actually eat the other stuff rather than just trying it off of my friend's plate). I was able to actually eat a desserts and a starter and let me tell you that they were incredibly. Do not be turned off by the idea of Garlic Carmel Sauce one vanilla ice cream because it was really, really good! I am really glad I tried it!

I WAS SURPRISED AT THE LAYOUT OF THE TABLES, I FELT AS IF I WAS SITTING IN A TENT. THE TABLE WAS TOO SMALL AND KIND OF UNCOMFORTABLE. THE FOOD WAS GOOD AS EXPECTED BUT THE DESSERTS WERE OVERPRICED FOR TASTING LIKE REGULAR VANILLA SOFT SERVE. THE ANCHOVIE CROSTINI WAS MEAGER AND OVERLY FISHY BUT A GENEROUS SQUEEZE OF LEMON JUICE MAKES IT DELICIOUS. THE SEAFOOD [CRAB AND MUSSELS] WAS GREAT. IT WAS HARD GETTING OUR SERVERS ATTENTION WITH THE CURTAINS AND NARROW WALK-THROUGHS AND AS FRIENDLY AS HE WAS, FORGOT TO FULFILL A LOT OF OUR REQUESTS. WE ALSO FOUND A HUGE PIECE OF RUBBER BAND THAT WAS USED TO HOLD THE CRAB'S CLAWS TOGETHER ON OUR GRILL. THE MANAGER DID COMP US THOUGH. GOTTA LOVE THE GARLIC THOUGH

I went here in a group of 5. We had reservations, but had to wait a while - however, it was Valentine's Day. I won't knock Da Rose for the wait. Plus, I think we were late. hehe, The food was pretty good. I wouldn't say it was outstanding, but it was definitely satisfying. The garlic clove appetizer was fun - I couldn't believe how much garlic I could eat. 2 peeps had pasta, and 3 of us had different meats. My chop was okay, but not great. The 40 Clove Garlic Chicken was the best meat. The best part of the meal was the SERVICE. The service was so fast, accurate, friendly - it was amazing.

I love garlic in pretty much everything so my boyfriend decided to take me to this restaurant on my birthday. THe atmosphere is really ornate with frames covering every inch of the wall and little private tents for dining couples. I ordered the filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes, and it was quite succulent! They give you free garlic bread, but you should order the garlic spread with it even though they charge you extra~ it's worth it! They also gave me garlic ice cream at the end, which was surprisingly good... But beware! The stench stayed with me the whole night...

Always wanted to go, so I went with one of my girlfriends one night. We had reservations, so there was no wait. The food was good, and the setting was awesome, however our server sucked pond water. She was so bad and slow. In fact, we called on another server to get us a knife and she got mad at him for helping us. We paid for our meal and as we were getting ready to leave, the manager came by to greet us and offered to give us a tour of the restaurant. It was great, he even took us to the infamous Dracula's Grotto room. Definitely cool. Other than service (by the way, we found out she was new, which is no excuse to be a lame server), the food and atmosphere was good.

Good food, and the service was friendly once the waiters finally arrived. It was Christmas and only a few tables were occupied in the restaurant, so there was no excuse. The hostess had a lousy attitude, though--no welcome, no goodbye, and when I asked her about getting a waiter, she copped attitude. (I was there on 12/25/06 at 1 p.m. in case the manager is reading this and wants to get rid of any useless hostesses......) Excellent garlic potato soup.

In Short A colorful "Garlic Goes Hollywood" motif permeates this swanky bar and restaurant on La Cienega's Restaurant Row. Usually packed with industry types and families who don't mind having "stinky" celebrations, most folks start with Bagna calda--spreadable cloves in butter, served in a skillet, with warm rolls. Entree options include garlic-infused game, seafood and house-specialty prime rib, with garlic mashed potatoes on the side. For dessert, garlic ice cream (yes, that's right) completes the clove-friendly theme. There's also tiramisu, one of the menu's only garlic-free options.

maybe we had high expectations, but even with the spreadable garlic on the really good bread and the very smooth pineapple mojito, i still think the whole thing was overrated. my filet was a bit on the small side, but it was cooked exactly how i wanted it. the staff was attentive enough. i agree with the previous review on the tacky aspect of it, though. buca di beppo has some, shall we say, interesting decor, too, but they've got the mood and the ambience to go with it. the stinking rose was dark and so quiet we could hear the entire mundane conversation of the boring couple at the table next to ours - a definite mood killer. maybe we'll try it again on a weekend night...

I've been coming here for the past 5 years and always take tourists here, because it's so unique. The decor is adorable: wall murals, little cities overlooking the diners, paintings with caricatures of garlic movies and tv shows, hot air balloons - looks like a ride at Disneyland. I love sitting in the curtained 'carriage'-like booths in the middle, makes a private conversation feel more private. Of course, the menu is filled with garlic, so bring someone you love and trust if you're spending time with them afterwards. The filet mignon is great, so are the pastas, on good days, i love the ceasar salad. Don't forget to order a hot chocolate for dessert. Service is so efficient, the waiters type your order into a little handheld device that transmits right into the kitchen.

The Stinking Rose has THE BEST prime rib! The prime rib is always cooked to perfection-- very tender, juicy, and TASTY! By far better than the prime rib at Lawry's, Houston's, and Tony Romas!! When you leave you do have a feeling of garlic overload, and there's a weird garlic aftertaste in your mouth when your done eating that carries over to the next day. Kinda gross, but soooo worth it.

Garlic is my all time favorite flavor so I may be biased. The food is delicious and the price is reasonable. I have dined here two times and loved it. The first time I went, we ordered, prime rib, 40 clove chicken, garlic rubbed baby back ribs, tiramisu, cheesecake, and garlic ice cream. The prime rib was tender and juicy, chicken was garlicky, ribs were ok. All the dessert were excellent. I really like the mole sauce that comes with the ice cream. The tiramisu was light. The cheesecake was a surprise. I didn't think it would be good and that it woud probably be like a really rich dense cheesecake like the cheesecake factory but I was all wrong. It was totally different. It had many layers of cheese and cake. Not at all heavy. The second time I went I ordered ravioli. I like my pasta al dente, but the ravioli was super al dente. It was a bit undercooked but it was still delicious.

they have a gimmick but they dont let it overpower the place: garlic. sometimes i forget that when im eating a meal that the purpose of the place is garlic. the food is good enough by itself and they just use garlic to flavor the meal, not killl it with garlic, which surprised me my first time here. i love the roasted garlic in the hot pan--i dont know how they do it but its amazing. the service, with their lil computers, are amazing. as a server myself, the staff is very attentive. by the way, they do have mints and its a great place for a date.

We do not get to came to this place very often but when I do, man what a treat. We start always with the bagna calda (spreadable roasted garlic) and then a nice combo skillet with mussels shrimp and crab. This time I tried the zuppa di pesce, a seafood mix in a tomato broth, delicious. My wife tried the silence of the lamb (go figure the name) also very good, nice and tender. To finish all up the garlic ice cream (I love it). The service was good too, friendly and efficient ad this time the manager was nice enough to show us the vampire room called Dracula's grotto, which I never new they had. Tripp, definitely a must see.

Made reservation in a week advance for 23 people and we waited close to 2 hours to have their tables set. The place looks like Buca Di Beppo. Don't like the ambience at all. I started with a caesar salad (it was so bland that all I tasted was the croutons) and then I had the filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes. The filet was indeed petite and the garlic mashed potatoes tasted like it came out of a box with no apparent taste of garlic. Then I had the chocolate sundae (if only they all their dishes this size) and it was mediocre. The only positive thing I can say is their wine. I wouldn't recommend this place.

The food is incredible. The first time I went I had the crab and shrimp and, though I'm ashamed to admit it, I've had it every subsequent time because it was just that good. There are some great values on the winelist and the restaurant are every accomodating of large groups. The private, tented tables are romantic but make sure you know your date well before bringing him or her here!

First thing that caught my attention was the ambience. It has a slight gothic feel. The mirror in the seating was a nice touch. Reminds me of the movie "the Lost boys". In the movie, if a person does not have a reflection, they were a vampire. My friend was not a vampire thankfully. We started with garlic potstickers and garlic spinach dip. Our main course meal consisted of halibut and steak. All were average. We expected MORE garlic, we were disappointed. Then we had the garlic ice cream! Delicious would not do it justice!!! We were so overwhelmed by the flavor.. We stopped at the first bite.. We spent the rest of the evening savoring the garlic in that one bite... I would recommend this restaurant for the garlic ice cream! the rest is just food!

I'll be the first to say that my assessment may be off because I've only been here once, with my mom and grandfather. We had crab, which was decent. Certainly not as "garlicky" as I thought it would be. Portion size was just right, leaving room for dessert. The house salad was very basic, nothing worth noting. The rolls were delicious. Notable service; we had prompt seating considering the fact that it was a weekend and we didn't have reservations. Garlic ice cream would be great if it weren't for the garlic; it's not as good as I suspected it had potential. I would order it merely to say I've tried it. Be sure to order one as a group so someone doesn't get stuck with it. Have chocolate cake instead. I'd recommend this place for a date, since the atmosphere is warm, & the decor is fun.

My boyfriend surprised me with reservations here for Valentine's Day. [FYI: Reservations Needed. We saw people waiting an hr. and 1/2 to be seated without reservations.] It was both our first time trying it out and mind you we both LOVE garlic. The bagda calda is what started us off. We shared an appetizer soup. We shared a meal. Had a bottle of wine. We shared dessert. And ended with after dinner drinks. Total was $150 for the two of us. The entire ambiance blew me away, the seating was romantic, the service was super helpful and friendly, the food is still a craving till this day. We will def be coming back, we're thinking of taking our parents next time. This was a delightful place and look forward to visting soon.
