    The two or three times that I've had homemade stew, they have been Delicious. Mostly, I settle for whatever Panera or Atlanta Bread Company has to offer. Still pretty damn good.

    Stew? Great! Here is my recipe for HUNNIC SACK AND PILLAGE STEW:You need a fairly large pot and if you don't have one, cut the recipe in half.Quart or liter of V-8 or tomato juice.four nice spuds--peel and cut into eighthstwo carrots--peel and slice or dicetwo stalks of celery--dice or chop, your optiontwo medium onions or one big sucker--dicetwo cloves garlic--crushget a two or three pound roast. Cut into one inch chunks. It is better to brown in olive oil but if you don't want to, so whatIf you can find them, get a package of beef neck bonesfind a rutabaga, if you can. Peel off the wax, and cut into one inch cubes. (REMEMBER THAT RUTABAGAS MADE ATTILA THE HUN MEAN!)Can of tomato sauce that is about the size of a coffee cuptwo bay leavesRemember the Simon and Garfunkel song "Scarborough Fair Canticle?"     I like homemade stew. I think fresh ingredients taste better, not to mention a lot healthier because you don't have a lot of added preservatives that the canned stuff has. I guess it has its place as well, especially if you're in a hurry and don't have time to cook. But, I feel that's what my Crock pot's for. It has all day to cook, and then it's ready when I come home from work. And yes, I believe it's excellent for cold weather.

    My Mom makes the best stew.It's rich and thick with plenty of beef and veggies.Nothing is better on a cold winters day!
