He will be missed and I know he's proud of Bindi carrying on in her dad's footsteps not only in his love for animals of all kinds but also for the conservation of animals and their habitats.

Anyone heard of the saying "Live by the sword, die by the sword!" A great ambassador for the wildlife, who had great passion for animals and life. His shows were both informative and fun!!! Who would have thought that you could make a wildlife show look so fun!! But I feel his down fall was always that he trusted his own instincts too much and forgot on occasions that these animals are wild and unpredictable! Steve was a joy to me, for two reasons: His love of life and his great love for Gods creatures! Just wish he did not have to die by the sword!

I could never watch his show...he was just too animated for me...however with that said, I respected what he did for animal awareness and educating the public on wild animals. I was very saddened by his death though he did die doing what he loved best.

I thought he was great. I like people that take pride in their work, and Irwin obviously did. He loved animals, kids loved him, and I think he was a good ambassador for Australia.

I liked him, but I am not surprised at his fate.

One day he's the easiest target for parody on all of TV and a second later he is a great tragic icon.  I think I've said it here before, but who among us didn't expect things to turn out this way.  My kids loved him and one of my daughter's best friends mourned in a way I've never seen a pre-teen do so.  But really, he made a living out of flirting with death and casualizing the risks he was taking.  Should we erect a statue of him with the single word IRONY carved at the bottom?
