For most of my early childhood bedtime was at 8 o'clock. I remember trying to sneak down to catch The Cosby Show, and usually being sent back up to my room. It was always fun when my parents gave in and let us stay up later with them.

Absolutely my favorite. This isn't so hard to figure out as the only things that can keep me awake are the things I really like doing, so all the good memories of the good time staying up all night playing jigsaw puzzles, video games, listening to the stories of Sherlock Holms on the radio..

Flashlight, book and small radio under the blankets was my modus operandi. I caught up on sleep at school.

I usually went to bed early when I was a child, but because of that, some of my fondest childhood memories happened on those rare occasions I was allowed to stay up late. During Christmas at our grandparents' house, I would be up with the rest of my male cousins. And in our pajamas, would go around the family tree try to peek inside some of the wrapped gifts to see what we got (but were never caught). Then all my cousins and I would stay up to watch a VHS movie until midnight or beyond (depending on the length of the movie) while enjoying mug of hot cocoa, all in our own sleeping bags, while the adults would usually be out for midnight mass.

I used to stay up until about 2:00 or 3:00 am watching TV on weekends for no other reason than because I could.

I felt so grown up staying up late and watching movies with my cousins. It sounds so funny now that something so little meant so much...

Depends. I stayed up late when I was a kid mostly because I had to work at my parents' restaurant. I've been a night owl since.

As a kid I was very curious about the late night world. I could tell it was somewhat different because the people on late night TV dressed nicer and it was like looking in on a cocktail party. It was okay to be risque late at night as that was when people told their off color jokes and folks listened to records by performers such as Rusty Warren, Redd Foxx, Buddy Hackett, Lenny Bruce, and Mort Sahl. I remember sneaking out of bed to watch episodes of the original Candid Camera and listening to Jack Paar as he hosted the Tonight Show. You didn't see that kind of thing on daytime TV. When I was very small and shared a room with my older brother we would sometimes get up in the middle of the night and listen to am radio stations that we could not receive in daylight hours. Sometimes we would correspond with the disc jockeys and get handwritten letters back. The best time for me was New Year's Eve when I could actually be there and take part in that mysterious late night world. It was usual... Read more

One of my favorites! I was always afraid I was going to miss something that was said or some really wonderful show on TV. I remember many nights when I was really young, sneaking down the hall (this is where PJ's with feet came in really handy) and attempting to watch TV without being seen. I would inch as close to the light from the living room as I could. It never worked for long and, after a few times, my parents automatically suspected I was there anyway. When the bedtime issues went the way of the feety pajamas my favorite night to stay up late was Friday when all the spooky movies were on.

It was weird but I would always beg and beg to stay up late. If my dad even heard us talking in our beds to each other he'd threaten us with a whippen. He had keen ears... I remember at age 12 my mom said I could stay up til 9 every night (can you imagine) and I still fell asleep every night at 8 lol On the couch! Now my kids, while they aren't allowed on the pc past my bed time, they can stay up til any reasonable hour, on the weekends.

What kid doesn't like to stay up late. It always made me feel grown up when my parents occasionaly let me stay up with them. Now that I'm older I can't wait to get to bed. Oh the irony!
