According to the bible, all people love themselves, you do not need to commit to loving yourself. The problem is when people think that because a person is depressed or wants to commit suicide is that they don't love themselves. The opposit is true, they really love themselves is the problem. The problem is that they are aware of their perssonal shortcomings that they have that they cannot live with themselves. They have sinned against their own moral code. People who commit suicide have broken their own moral codes which brings guilty feelings and worthlessness. The problem is not that they don't love themselves, they have a high moral code, whatever it might be. We are spiritual beings, and when we sin against moral or spiritual codes whether we know what they are we come under condemnation, then we feel guilty and that guilt leads them to take their lives. The only way to really get out from this guilt is to confess your sin and seek help from others on a human level. On the other... Read more

Do you really need a resolution to love yourself? It's a matter of self-perception. You can't just wake up and say "I love Me!" If you don't, then find the reasons and work on them. That could be incorporated into this resolution, yes, but in all honesty if you have a problem with who you are you should be changing it anyways. If you are going to live, you might as well be happy right?

Loving yourself is a must, if you want to be loved by somebody else. And spending your life without life is just mere existance. Life is too short for that...

A fine sentiment, especially when your resolutions to exercise more and lose weight fall by the wayside and you don't end up getting laid more often.

Easier said than done and it's very hard to change your mindset just like that. Doing things like working out or joining a club anything to give yourself confidence helps greatly with the process.

Obviously, this is a great resolution for certain people...but...to "start" loving oneself, implies that I didn't love myself before. I already love myself, so I wouldn't make it a point to make this a resolution for the upcoming year.

I respect myself and like myself enough to encourage another person to do the same. Love me or hate me, but you better respect me.

It is a good idea because you need to care about yourself and as a resolution a good idea put in a bad use of words.

Isn't that the slogan for Vibrators R Us? But seriously, its an excellent idea for those afflicted with self-hatred to develop a healthier views of themself. Once you love yourself, you are better able to provide love for other people.
