This was my first superhero book. It came with a record that you played while you turned the pages, so it was like the crap was going down in my room! The dragon man and the green goblin scared the hell out of me, so I'm glad Spider-man was there to trounce them. Also, I think the ink was full of LSD. EDIT: Stop making this, NOW.

I used to love Spider-Man... He was the everyman superhero... the comedian superhero...(apart from Deadpool). Good for a gas with real problems. Then in the 90s he wrestled with the clone saga (which had its moments, but was over-stretched and elongated far too much) and then at the turn of the millenium became some crap, bum hero. Since 2000 he's been involved in some of the worst storylines of all time, including the absolutely unforgivable "One More Day" saga in which a poorly thought-out and badly executed deus ex machina fixed everything from the last forty-five years of Spider-Man mythology that the writers didn't like.

Spider-man was one of the comics I regularly read when I was younger but didn't get to read as much of the comics as I would have liked. I enjoyed the cartoon series and the few computer games they did. Unfortunately (?) I ended up with this as a nickname for half a year at school after scaling a 4m high wall to get my coat down off it after someone threw it up there. Still, despite this I still like this character and I hope the next Spider-man movie won't be as disappointing as #3

Loved the comics and the video game. I thought the first movie could have been better but the last one made up for it.

Not a huge fan of Spidey. He's neat and all, but really not that tough. He's quick and agile, but if he got into a fight with pretty much any other superhero they would whup his ass pretty easily

His strength doesn't just lie in his powers. His best moments come when his powers fail him and he must rely on his scientific genius.

The Spider-Man of the comic books and the cartoons was one of the best superheroes out there. But I do agree somewhat with Numbah about the recent movies doing something to the overall appeal of Spider-Man. They're actually decent movies, it's just that Peter Parker is no longer Peter Parker, he's more Toby Maguire, which isn't a good thing.

Hard to deny the appeal. First superhero to be a teenager. The genius of Spider-Man was both his cool powers and his real-world struggles. Parker has a sh$tty boss, has woman problems, has trouble paying rent, and struggles with his classes at N.Y.U. He's your nerdy cousin/relative struggling to survive during the day. It was always easy to empathize with him.

Another great comic book movie. A nerdy teenager gets bit by a radioactive spider and gets powers that he uses to battle criminals. The effects are really good.

The first step is always the hardest to take, and in this case, forgivable - as it is the first step in the movie adaptation of Spiderman. The casting of the lead roles could have been chosen much better, but the storyline is pretty close to the comic version's bible theme. Power and Responsibility, and a whole lot of self-exploration. This is an adequate starter or origin story portrayal. At least there is some quirky moments and action to make Peter Parker relatable for people.

Special effects finally caught up to this great comic book story. Peter is a guy, just like us who gets amazing powers. Unfortunately, he can't have the girl. But, that's the lot in life for super heroes.

This movie isn't that great. The sequel is better. I almost gave this one 2 stars but I decided it's barely worthy of three. Hopefully Spider-Man 3 is better than this and Spider Man 2. I'm not crazy about either of the first 2.

What's not to like. He can fly, he can walk on the walls, he is flexible, he defends the goodness, and portrayed very human(other than that colorful outfit). Wish I had the power to fly...wishful thinking!

I agree with Beav on this. This is one of the few comics that has succeeded in a big way onto the bigscreen.I feel Batman and Superman's transition fell a little short. We will not even have to comment on Catwoman, lol.

Much better than I expected. I am not a cartoon hero fan, but they did a pretty good job on that. I enjoyed the storyline, even though I never read the comics. The acting was pretty good and the effects just amazing.

I've always felt that Spider-Man was a bit too angst-ridden for my tastes. I don't like the fact that the hero has to make sacrifices and that he is at first unsure wheter to jump at the chance to fight for the side of good. However, the rest of the movie is pretty good. The special effects are great, especially in the action sequences. Kirsten Dunst shines as Mary-Jane Watson and Willem Dafoe does make a good villain. The ending of this movie, however, should have been much more optimsitic than it was. More like 3 1/2 stars.

Like Daredevil, my Great rating is based on the old comic book version. Stan Lee and the gang nade this, if not the best, certainly second best, comic ever! Terrific art work, superb writing and plots. Mary Jane and Gwen as Spidey's (Peter Parker's) girlfriends added so much to the plots, along with Aunt May, JJ, etc. How I wish they'd re-print the entire series!

spider-man has always been preety cool. his movie was good. in the comics didn't he built a thing to shoot those webs. in the movie i remember him actually shooting webs out his wrists and not the launcher. thats one example of hollywood changing stuff. venom and carnage look preety cool to. i think they should be in the next film.

The second best film about a superhero. Tobey Maquire was perfect as Peter Parker. Willem Dafoe goes a little overboard as the Green Gobblin. Kirsten Dunst is wonderful as Mary Jane Watson. In his short time in the film Cliff Robertson is not forgotten as Uncle Ben and sets the stage for Peter to become the hero. Story becomes weak and silly in some parts, but still manages to entertain.

Oh Spiderman. Such a wonderful movie. Great graphics. I want to fly like that. Tobey MaGuire, Kiersten Dunst, they all did really really well. This had to have been a hard movie to make. All the technology that was put into it. But it was worth it. Can't wait for Spiderman 2 ! *whispers With great power comes great responsibility*

Alright this is a good picture and is definately worth seeing, but it doesn't rank in the stratosphere of sci-fi fantasy pictures. That may be due in part to its disposability. Eventually you get tired of this picture.

Spidey is strong and all, but he has too many loose ends. If Peter had to go through what Matt did in the Born Again run of Daredevil, Peter would end up in the curled up in some corner in the fetal position sucking his thumb

Spiderman is kind of everybody's favourite superhero. He couldn't fly, but he was super strong and could climb across any vertical surface. Shooting webs is a really cool power as well, especially since he could vary the type of web; there was one for swinging around the city, one for ensnaring bad guys, and one that he could sort of spin into a circle to create an inpenetrable shield. The movie sucked really bad though, I mean it lowered my estimation of Spider Man, it was that bad.

spiderman is the greateset of the Marvel heroes. As a boy you had to love him.His wisecracking is what made me a fan.As a young person you were supposed to be quiet, here we had a hero who spoke for many of us.Spidey had many a great villian and this is what makes a hero.If you don't have a good selection of villians the hero gets stale quickly. Can he swing from a thread? Hey take a look overhead.

A fantastic piece of work. Like a comic book but without the reading. Stays true to the comic except for a few minor parts that only the obsessed would stress over. Sets the bar at a whole new level for comic book movies.

Spiderman is the perfect hero. He always does what's right, as super heroes do, etc. He always saves the day and still has time to say humerous remarks. But the thing that puts Spiderman over every other hero, he's a dork who's afraid to talk to the girl he wants. Spiderman is me, but with superpowers and all that good stuff.
