I used to use speedy a lot to transport film equipment and i built up a tolerance to there dirty smelly cars because it was a little cheaper than other van rentals, i even dealt with the vans with so little gas in them you were luck y to get to the gas station to fill up before running out. I got so many empty vans that i started believing that they drain the gas out before they give it to you. I tolerated there nasty counter people, with exception to Michael which was semi friendly and not as curt as the others. I even dealt with changing a flat tire and paying for its replacement because they told me that it is my responsibily " that i ran over something or some bologna ike that". I was a little confused because i knew i didn't run over anything and i assumed it was covered in my insurance but apperently not. I somehow choked all of this down because they were near my home and they usually always had a van for me...until one day when i had one of there vans on a out of town gig and i... Read more

Reliable car rental with decent cars and low prices. Becuase of this they are always busy, so make sure to get reservation/confirmation numbers and always know who you spoke to.

We've been renting from speedy for years, but in the last couple of years they became more like rent-a-wreck service. We reserved a car for my son's wedding, a 3 hour drive to upstate NY. When my husband picked up car on Fri, it was fitthy, we found an empty container of leftovers with a dirty spone inside the front console, the back door handle was broken and the 92 year grandfather of the groom was unable to open the door from the inside. But more seriously, when driving to the GWB another driver rolled the window and told us that the rear wheel is about to come off. We immediatly drove to the first Gas station and were told that the car was in an accident and the rim was bent causing the tire to loose air and it could have exploded while driving it to NJ. We fixed the rim for $85. We also noticed that the "check" light on the dashboard came on and the mechanic said it could mean engine problems. We decided that it was unsafe to drive the car and got to the first rental ... Read more

I have rented from Speedy on numerous occassions and their cars are usually pretty dirty. One time in particular, it seemed as if a baby had thrown up all over the back seat and no one cleaned it up. Needless to say, the car didn't smell very good. They are less than friendly on the phone and better deals can be had elsewhere.

DONOTRENTFROMHEREDONOTRENTFROMHERE What is a "reservation"? A reservation usually means that the company will hold the car for you. This is not the case with 'Speedy'. When I called to reserve a car, the guy on the phone said, "Sure, no problem", and took my name. I had a funny feeling about this as I planned my weekend, and called again Friday morning to confirm my reservation; said I might be a little late and the guy said "No problem". I showed up Friday only to find out that they gave my car "reservation" away to someone else. This basically means that even if you do put your name on the list, you're not guaranteed anything. IT'S FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. "It would have been good if your employee had told us that", we said to the manager. The kicker is that he really didn't care, and tried to blame us for being late. Had we known this would happen we would have quickly run over there after work. Now you know the real 'Speedy' deal. You're better off w/ a Zip car.

I rented from this company for years and they were great. This time the car was filthy and something was wrong with the brakes and I had to delay my vacation as a results. I will never rent from them again.

Stay far away from this place. I can't express how cold and rude the people are. They have absolutely no idea how to treat customers or potential customers. The cars are dirty and in need of serious repairs - such as BRAKE LIGHTS.
