In moving the contents of my parents home from NE to the west we really had no problems until it was discovered upon delivery that two dining chairs and two boxes were not on the van. Subsequent calls were answered and it seemed as though they were trying to locate the items, but further calls were not answered, either by the office or dispatch. There were two boxes, one of which contained my parents photos from 60 years of marriage. These of course are not replaceable.The second box was a wooden Moxie box filled with my mother's books. The dining chairs are a dark wood with black floral seats. It sure would be great if someone took the time to contact Special Moving if they received these items in error, but it would be better if Special Moving would answer their phones when we call.

He also said that we would have such a great experience we would never want to use another company anymore. WELL: First they made a fixed price they changed afterwards, which one could argue was still in the realm of acceptable behaviors.. Then, the movers pressured my wife (almost physically) to give them more tip. She had given them 90 USD but they wanted at least 150. I am not sure if tipping is customary with such high prices. My university colleagues tell me tipping in interstate moves is illegal.. Even if that is not accurate, that kind of tipping is price and not tip, and the physical threats were just unacceptable. Third, they did not deliver ONE full box, which had my computer in it. As we checked in the old place and in new house and nothing was there, it was not delivered. Our opinion - do yourself a favor - learn from our horrible experience and STAY AWAY FROM SPECIAL MOVING. No words can describe what scummy human beings they are. They are thieves. They "lost" a painting during our move and storage time with them. They damaged almost every item of furniture. They are low lives. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THEM.

I don't even know where to begin with these scumbags. They sound very nice on the phone but don't be fooled, these people are CAREER CRIMINALS, sadly only one company among what has become an epidemic in NYC. Made up mostly of illegal Israeli immigrants, these companies hide behind outdated laws and prey upon people making long-distance moves. They are currently being investigated by the FBI and I hope every one of these dirtbags like David and Asher Malka, Sam and Edgar all get their heads beaten in with a brick. I was outright EXTORTED out of $1500 in a very slick, PROFESSIONAL CON.

I booked this company because they left me a message on my machine that seemed to answer any question i could have had. And when i spoke with Natalie in the office she seemed very courteous and professional and even told me how she started working there after this company did her own move. Well... I moved all the boxes in my move myself to save money (and i am so glad i did!), so all they had to do was the furniture of a 1 bedroom apartment. I had a flat rate quote and when i tried to take items off my list to add others the amount was always increased (these were minor items mind you)... They did not unistall the ceiling fan as promised, they damaged a couple of pieces of furniture and did not take responsibility (one thing came off the truck and i was told 'but we didn't put anything on top of it' - another door wasn't taped and broke in front of me as they placed it in the correct spot - to that I was not given an apology and told to get some gorilla glue), damaged the hardwo... Special Moving has the greatest moving team I have ever seen. You have to see these guys work. They are very thorough on how they pack and very proficient. These guys individually wrap everything then pack it. Nothing was broken becuase of their exquisite packing! Thank you Special Moving.

Great service, Great price! I was extremely happy with the level of service, from the phone booking, day before confirmation, the movers were on time, careful, courteous and efficient. My entire move from uptown to downtown took 2 hours. The price was less than I expected. I couldn't have been happier.

We used special Moving for our recent move in New York City and I am happy we did. My boyfriend and I got three quotes from different moving companies and chose to go with special moving even though they were not the cheapest. we had them do everything, pack the boxes, move us to our new apartment and unpack the boxes. We had the same guys for all three days of the move and they were adorable. Professionals who clearly knew what they were doing. we were told by the head guy to "get some coffee, sit, relax and watch the show". And a show it was. We would never use other movers. We moved from NC back to NJ and Special Moving assigned us the best team of movers we have ever dealt with....Chicko and Rhonda were superb. Every detail of our move was handled to perfection. They met us on a Saturday morning in NC and we were moved into our new residence in NJ before noon on Sunday. Excellent from soup to nuts. The price was very reasonable; the box count estimate of what we needed was right on! The Certificates of Insurance were provided on time and politely. The crew arrived 10 minutes EARLY, which in my entire life I have never seen. They were polite and worked their butts off! I have yet to unpack everything, but we had no major disasters. This company who called them self "Special Moving" are a night mare for anyone who desire to move !!!! They will tell you evrything you want to hear so they could book the job and they can do what ever they with your household once its on the truck... if its price if its the packing if its the uniform if its being late, I can go like this forever... My experience with Special Moving was so bad, and I found them so unbelievably shady, untrustworthy and unproffessional, that I have to think that any positive review for them on this page was posted by the company themselves. Dont be fooled. Go somewhere else.

I was sorry to see that Special moving got bad reviews from some. My experience was nothing but positive from the very beginning. I had to change my move date three times because of a glitch with the schedule of the building, but the Special moving staff was helpful and patient with me. The employees were very kind and professional over the phone, and the movers were incredible. They moved me from Astoria to Manhattan in under three hours. This is the second time I have moved with Special Moving My first move was locally in the metro-New York area and went perfectly. They arrived on time and performed beyond my expectations. I just recently relocated from my apartment in New York out to San Diego and the entire process was just excellent. I was a little nervous sending my stuff across the country but I was suprised at how the whole move went. They kept in touch with me the entire time to answer my questions, they're rates were as promised and the service was superb. I can assure everyone that this is most likely the worst moving company in NYC. The reason I am so sure about this is because I worked there for almost a month. I have been working as a mover for over 8 years in NY and I have worked many different companies and never encountered such a scamming company. These people will lie to you about anything and everything. They will tell you one thing on the phone and tell us (the movers) to tell you another. They will make your move one of the worst days you have ever had. I know many people who have ended up in court with special moving. There is absolutely nothing good about this company. Last year I moved with a great moving company named Special Moving.,Inc they performed everything they promised they would. Their prices included all any package can certainly include such as full unassembly and reassembly of my furniture. I really liked their staff in their office they were always helpful and answered all my questions very professionally. Their movers and driver made my move so smooth and stress- free and everything arrived with no fan fare whatsoever. from the min i called till the min i moved in to my new house thay were nice. i got alot of prises over the phone, but thay gave me a flat prise. he (sam) told that other companys tell you one thing and do another. and he was 100% right. i called other companys and thay gave a diffrent prise. Since I had already moved across country, a friend agreed to contact a moving company to ship my stuff. I spoke with Sam on the phone, he took my credit card information, and billed me for the $200 deposit. As soon they took my property into their possession, however, they refused to take any further credit card payments--demanding either cash or certified check. Further, because I had not signed a contract with them, they insisted that I sign one ASAP and fax back to them. I told them that until we could resolve the payment issue, I would not sign. Edgar, the dispatcher, stated that if that was the case "we don't have your property." I have filed a complaint with the Massachusetts Attorney's General office, and plan to aggressively pursue this matter. This company is truly awful--I'm go to take them to court. I reserved the moving service from this company a few months ago and told them I would give them the exact moving date once the apartment was available. On July 24, I called them to pick up my stuff on July 28 and asked whether they can make it. The representative asked me to pay a security deposit of $200 and said my stuff would be picked up on time absolutely, given I have paid the deposit. After I paid deposit to them, my nightmare started. They didn?t showed up at all as scheduled. When I called them, I was told my moving schedule was postponed to two day later. But they didn?t showed up even as the new schedule. Then I called them again, they postponed the time again and didn?t show up again. Finally I have to look for another moving company in the last minute, because it's too late, I had to pay much more money to get moving service from another company. Special Movers, Inc is a scam operation. They more than tripled the quote from barely $1000 to $3700! Over the phone, the representatives will change constantly, from Rose, Donna, Michelle, "Jasmine" so as to create a smoke screen and change at will on any agreements they have with you. Once they loaded my stuff, the price more than doubled, and when I tried to verify by asking to call the office, the foreman warned me not to make him angry! They will hold your stuff hostage, demand payment through Western Union to unidentified people, and keep fluctuating the price. They will threaten you, "You have 10 mins to decide or we will turn the truck back, pay up or else!" It is a living nightmare, and they will keep changing the arrival date to suit their own schedule. They called me just an hour before arrival to say they are coming!! And that is after I have paid up everything. They are really thugs and robbers, so be careful! RUN AWAY as far as you can! The name should give it away. I suspect that the company operates under several ambigious and meaningless names so that when they ruin someones move, the complaints on the internet dont affect thier business. learn from my mistake and only go with personal reffereals and established names. Not fly by night operators like allias Special Moving. Who knows maybe even their Sales associate Sam goes by several alliases.

These guys will try to screw you every chance they get!!! The guys that packed my stuff were really nice, but the manager tried to overcharge at every turn. He even threatened me on the phone that "I do not want to make them angry." What does that mean??? All I wanted was a phone call and ETA of when my stuff was going to arrive. The movers tried to an additional $600 to take a shelf, chair and Ironing board because it was not on the initial packing list, even though the saleswoman told me that going over by a few items would not be a big deal. It is all part of a scam because I was initially quoted 1400 based on an inventory list that was actually put together by a moving professional from Allied Van Lines, so it can be assumed that it was pretty accurate. However, by the time everything was packed (which only by the way took an hour and a half), the price had allegedly risen to 1800. I was encouraged by one of their employees to call their office and negotiate this price increase. I did just that, but after telling some guy called Sam that he could cut the rubbish and get to the chase of whether they would reduce the price or not, this Sam fellow got very defensive and basically hung up on me. Obviously, from that point on, I had no interest in further negotiating with them. So do stay away from this company. By 10:00 we rescheduled for Noon. At 12:30, their dispatcher assured me that they were just a few minutes away on the LIE. By 1:30 I called again only to hear that the dispatcher had nothing new to report and didnt know where they were. After only 10 minutes of conversation, I felt very comfortable with their representative that professionally walked me thru all the services they provide, and right after that I already had a guaranteed price written waiting for me in my e-mail box! Horrible. Stay away from this company. They will rob you blind. They first quoted me by estimating the move based on an inventory I provided, and then they claimed that I had exceeded tyhe inventory and charged me for the move based on cubic feet. My iitial quote was for 906 cubic feet and then they charged m for a total of over 2000 cubic feet. When I inspected the van I observed that my goods did hot reach the 1200 cubic feet mark, therefore they were charging me for about 800 cubic feeet of empty space, They never provided a written estimate ,and I was taken for a fool. I cannot emphasize it enough. Stay away from this company.

Well I loved there service.. Special Moving being a much smaller company they get to know the customer very well. the sales associates are so friendly the managers did there duties very well...this company excelled in my operation of moving my items from N.Y to C.A. This was a long-dis gig and they took care of all my worries. The movers were so professional, and took so much pre-caution with my stuff which made me feel like a valued customer. My move was made swift and enjoyable, almost to much that i might just move again, and if that occured Special Moving would be the company that i would choose and in an instant recommend.

I love this company, the move was great and the delivery to CA was on time. The movers pack the entire house and for the first time everything got there in one part. The estimate wasn't the cheapest one that I got but the price was guaranty price. The didn't change the price like the other companies that I used in the past. I highly recommend this company

Avoid this company. Did a long distance move of with them and they completely took advantage of me. They gave me an estimate with the items I was moving listed and a price. I did not realize that this estimate was based on estimated cubic foot measurements for each item. Anyway, the estimate they gave me beforehand did not have cubic feet measurements beside each item. When they showed up at my house on moving day, they had a list WITH the estimated measurements for each item. The estimate was based on a set per cubic foot price. These "estimated" measurements were grossly less than any real furniture. Like a king size bed was estimated to be only the mattress and didn't include the box spring or frame. There was nothing i could do about it though because they had me in a situation where i HAD to move: I was leaving the next day. I ended up spending over $1000 more than the estimate. Your service, from my initial phone call requesting a quote to the moment the last box was removed from the truck, broke through all of the negative stereotypes associated with moving companies. Dave was the reason I decided to use special moving. His commitment to delivering outstanding customer service was evident from the start. The movers arrived early and handled the move perfectly. It was efficient, yet they handled my belonging with care. The price wasn't the cheapest one but was real flatrate price. I will use them in the future.
