Sun Oct 26 2008Spartan Stadium is a great college football stadium. It isn't your typical horse shoe or bowl stadium. Its upper decks provide an amazing view. Many of the long-term season ticket holders still make the trek up just for the view. The stadium also has several interesting things. First, the north endzone seating remains at the height of the original bowl. Second, in the tunnel, the old doors to the locker rooms can still be seen about 6 feet above the ground. The tunnel and field were lowered in the 90's, resulting reconfigured locker rooms. Third, the smokestack of the old power plant can easily be see from almost any seat in the stadium. The letters 'MSC' are seen on it, back from when MSU was known as Michigan State College. Fourth, from the upper decks, you can see the majority of the campus, including Beaumont Tower, The Red Cedar River, and the Spartan Statue. The new pressbox/luxury suite addition looks great. There are eventual plans to update the rest of the stad... Read more

Mon Jul 16 2007Great college football stadium. After addition, Spartan Stadium now seats over 75,000 fans. Probably one of the top 3 toughest venues for opponents to visit in the Big Ten. Can be very intimidating for visiting teams. Nice facility.

Wed Mar 29 2006One of top places to watch a college football game! ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. ranked it No. 8 among the nation's most scenic college venues. Spartan football fortunes may rise and fall like a roller coaster, but Spartan Stadium owns a 50-year consecutive run in the NCAA's Top Twenty when it comes to average attendance. The playing field is literally shoehorned into the stadium which puts even the nosebleed seats in close proximity to the action. It's as intimate as a 75,000-seat venue can be. Sightlines are great for all seating, but the view from the two cantilevered upperdecks is unmatched in college football. The west upper deck received new restrooms and concession stands (Pepsi replaced Coke in 2005) as part of the remodeling project that added sky boxes, but the new access ramp's gradual grade makes for a long walk compared to the shorter, steeper ramps on the east side. Take the west stairs down at the end of the game--they're a lot quicker! As mentioned in an earlier rev... Read more

Mon Feb 23 2004Truly one of the best stadiums in the country. If you've seen pictures of it or saw it up close, it fits in VERY well with the campus.
