I went to punahou fitness and spa just to check it out. One of my friends said they had good trainers there. I was pleasently surprised to find that the staff, although enthused weren't so "pushy" like other gyms. They offered me 3 free sessions with a personl trainer. Nainoa was the one who helped me. He showed me so many things that I never thought of doing. I have been an athelete all of my life and have been doing the same things since highschool. I am so glad that I went to punahou fitness and spa. I encourage all to at least go and look. Give it a chance their GREAT.

I was one who had lifetime membership. I was off island when the company was bought out. This was no surprise to me because membership was practically free with the lifetime membership. When I did return home I figured I try 24hr since it seemed to be growing quickly across the island. Personally I was not impressed. The parking was limited, I would circle the lot for nearly 15-20 minutes before I even made it in the gym. Though the staff wasn?t rude or anything, it definitely lacked the family oriented vibe that the Spa continues to carry. I decided to return to the Spa. Despite the fact that I was unable to renew my contract, the staff was accommodating and the plans presented were very reasonable. If you compare prices to other gyms on the island, it?s a steal. Especially since they are one of the few if not only facility on the island that offers the variety of amenities: weights, cardio machines, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna & ice pool. There have been several renovat... Read more

I was told there was a good trainer at this gym. I met with the trainer and immediately sensed there could be a conflict of interest as he also worked at the gym. Turned out there was; he could never concentrate, he was looking around, running back and forth to the front desk, chatting with the owner and taking cell phone calls. This is the worst kind of trainer possible. I had to fire him. The gym is small, cramped and old. The locker rooms have no paper towels, not enough benches for changing and no full sized lockers. What's more, on the off days, women or men can only change in a small bathroom as the main locker with sauna and hot tub is not co-ed. Making matters still worse, on "ladies day" in the " spa" area the women are all shame based and admonish anyone who is UNDRESSED in the sauna, hot tub or even in line for the shower. This is the only ladies locker room in the universe where the women refuse to be undressed. The owner is so cheap that he doesn't furnish: paper towels... Read more
