First lets be clear. This is not a bourbon, it is not a whiskey, it is simply what it is and that's Southern Comfort. I've always loved this over the rocks. The taste might be too sweet for some but I find it refreshing and somewhat complex. There own slogan states "Not Genuine but mine" and that is very true in my case. I'll drink this until the day I die (most likely from it too). Highly recommended for those who are getting tried of the taste of other similar drinks.

They say tequila makes her clothes fall off? SOCO makes her clothes fall off! This is the ultimate liquor for a bachelor to have. It is very agreeable and unoffensive to most of the parties consuming it. It makes excellent mixers and shoots pretty well too, if it is cold. This is a good bottle to bring to a party. Most people will bash it up and down, until they come to investigate the whole group taking shots or try a famous soco hurricane (BTW it's soco, orange juice, pineapple juice, grenadine, a splash of sweet and sour and a splash of grenadine). It's one of the liquors that you can put WAY too much of it in the mixer, and people don't complain. The 100 proof is the way to go, by the way.

An excellent mixer, I rate it a little high because it's a good value.

I as a bourbon lover should hate this stuff, but for some reason I don't. it could be fond memories of it when I first started drinking in the eighth grade. However my tastes have changed. It is just a tad too sweet for me, but it is smooth. The 100 proof verison is the better buy because it has more balance to it. Anyway I do shamefully drink it from time to time. So I cant fully condemn it, but I can't fully recommend it. Overall not bad , but a little too sweet. I guess it's good when you're in the mood for a whiskey cocktail and don't fell like mixing.

Southern Comfort, a cordial, is like the sweet release of warm death, a kind of gentle hell-spawn sent by Satan himself to slide down your throat and into your stomach so you wanna drink the whole bottle and you wake up without your shirt and one of your boots in a Korean massage parlor in Youngstown, Ohio. Only you're from Iowa. Good times....

Does not belong in this category. Haven't had this since about 1975. It was a pretty good liquer back in those days and was touted as a sweetened liquer made from bourbon.

It just doesn't get any better than SoCo - a SoCo on the rocks with a big slice of lime to cut the sweetness and sip away.

Why is this in this category? It's not a whiskey.

I do not like SOCO. It bothers me because it's very sweet. But it is easy to drink straight, which is nice. It is only 70 proof which is annoying. It does taste very good in hurricanes, with coke, with lime, and actually with orange juice(? who knew). Still too sweet in my opinion.

A little sweet and syrupy but still a good drink on the rocks.

I was mostly just going to say that it is a liqueur, not a whiskey, so it doesn't belong on this list, but since that's been said, I guess I'll just say its alright, and it has its uses.

I like it, it tastes kind of sweet, low to medium low kick going down the throat, not to bad...

There is absolutely no point to getting anywhere near this fancy boy stuff except to scrape the innards of your liver! Basically sweetened crap.

By far, best consumed on the rocks. This beverage already has all the mixer you need with the peach and apricot flavoring. However, if you want to get a good warm fuzzy, you had better buy the 100 proof bottle because the 70 proof has been watered down. BTW, who the hell are these people who remove the alcohol content from liquors anyway? Must be parents of high school and college kids who hear horror stories about their kids drinking and getting in car wrecks. Put the alcohol back in Southern Comfort. Great drink but overpriced in my opinion. Especially in light of the fact that they have reduced the alcohol content.

Bet you've always thought this was whiskey or bourbon, didn't you. Nope -- it's a grain neutral spirits liqueur flavored with apricots/peaches. Read the label -- you won't find the words whiskey or bourbon on it (except the export-only Reserve bottling), 'cause it ain't.

A favorite. It's sweet, yet strong, but some time ago they decided to lower the proof on it. Back in my college days this and JD were my drinks of choice. 151 Southern Comfort was a stiff drink, but I could handle it. Love the 100 proof they have now.

What a bunch of morons! Southern Comfort is not, and does not pretend to be, a whiskey at all! It is a liqueur! Southern Comfort is for bourbon what Drambuie is for Scotch. It is intended to be sweet, its an aperatif! FOR A LIQUEUR, it's not bad. But watch out, it's also a rotten red wine and a rotten rum and a rotten lots of other things it's not meant to be.

This sucks. I usually leave better comments than this but it sucks. Take peach, sugar, and whiskey and you get this.

(70 proof) Tried it one night, won't forget that one for a while. Had me praying to the porcelian god after only 6 shots (Takes me at least double that with most other stuff) Tastes like you are shooting cough syrup, best way to describe it without a long essay. Will get you messed up fast and not the good kind of messed up... Just stick to the non sugared up Bourbon...

Uggh!! A fake. A fraud. They add caramel to this so-called "whisky"... Cheap and candied.
