The perch completes the post, and gives Adler a place to walk from my bed to the night stand to the post. And if I was quick with the camera, it would be a great place for him to pose for his portrait. Perhaps when he's a little older, he'll sit still a little longer. He has climbed up the sisal sides of the post to the perch, but mostly to use it to get onto the night stand and then to the bed.

Don't waste your money on this overpriced accessory! All you need is the Ultimate Scratching Post(which is definitely worth the money).

The scratch post this fits is the sturdiest one I have ever seen! This provides a nice place for the cat to sit on the top.

I ordered this post perch to fit on top of the SmartCat Ultimate Scratching Post and it does fit very nicely. It's easy to attach and the base of it is sturdy. The thing I didn't like about it is that it's kind of small, about 12 x 14 inches. That's not very big for a large cat. The other thing that I thought could have been improved was the thickness of the cushion. It was only about 1/2 to 3/4 inches thick. I thought for the price that they could have made something a little thicker and more cushy. It has little straps that attach it to the bottom wood platform, but the platform is a finished wood and slippery, so the mat slides a little when a cat jumps up on it. We solved that by cutting a piece of that rubber shelf liner stuff like this 48 each: Jmk Rubber Shelf Liner (03055) that you can cut to size and put it between the top of the perch and the cushion. It keeps it from moving around. (Also a great way to keep chair cushions in place on wooden chairs.) The cats don... Read more

It took a few weeks but my 6-year-old cat really took to this thing. I have the post next to my desk to discourage her from messing with my office chair and now she can sit on top and keep me company while I work, or perhaps give me a good view of her back if some desired service has not been adequately rendered ;) I wish the perch were a little bigger b/c even though my cat isn't particularly large she still has to curl up tightly to fit on it, but she doesn't seem to mind, and well it's designed to be a perch not a cat bed. Perhaps they limited the size to keep it stable, which it definitely is. Overall this is a great quality product and a nice complement to the post itself.
