Sun Jan 31 2010My husband and I visited here for the first time this past Saturday night, and LOVED IT! We arrived at 5:45 and were seated right away. We did notice that it got crowded very quickly after that, and there were quite a few people waiting up front. Our waitress was very friendly, and took wonderful care of us. The crabcake appetizer was very good, as were our entres. I had the scallop tacos, and my husband had catfish. We will definitely return.

Sat Sep 12 2009We had a group of a dozen people for a tour across the street at Oakland Cemetery (great) and called the restaurant 2 weeks ahead to see if they could handle our party, which included some elderly folks and kids - they told us no problem, call the day of the event with the final number. We called at 1pm and told them 12 or 13 people were coming at 7:30 - they said fine, call again a half hour before we walked across the street. We called at 6:45 and told them 14 people, and our crowd was all there at 7:20. We told the hostess we'd take multiple tables when it was obvious they didn't have anywhere for us to sit. Lot's of people who came in after us were seated, and we reminded the hostess we'd agreed to be split up. After an hour of waiting (8:20) the hostess told me they had brought togo boxes to the table where they would put tables together for us and it should be quick. Then a useless blond woman got involved and seated several more tables of people walking in, including where we w... Read more

Wed Aug 05 2009My experience at Six Feet Under started off on a sour note. We walked through the door, and it started. The hostess tried to seat us at a bar table which would barely hold one plate of food let alone dinner for four. When I asked her to seat us at a normal table with chairs instead of bar stools, she snapped at us to wait at the front. After five minutes of staring at empty tables all over the restaurant, she finally took us to a table and slammed down the menus. This is a customer driven business, and if you can't come into work and knock the huge chip off your shoulder you should find another job. Thankfully, the service we received tableside was great. Our server was friendly and more than helpful in answering questions. Unfortunately, I will never make a repeat visit. The hostess ruined the experience, and there are too many other places in town with great food and great service.

Tue Aug 04 2009If this is your kind of place, it's one of the best. They have a large menu. They can fry anything.

Mon Jun 01 2009We waited 2 and a half HOURS to be seated at Six Feet Under. This is not an overexaggeration, this is the honest to God truth. We called ahead and explained there would be 8 people for a birthday dinner (obviously a special event). They said there will be no problem. When we arrived they instructed us to wait at bar until our whole party was there, 10 minutes later everyone was accounted for. They explained it will be about 20-30 minutes. ONE HOUR passes, no table. We find that larger parties came in after us and were seated 'accidently, it was a mistake' and those parties were also for birthdays and were not getting up for a while. We waited TWO AND HALF HOURS before getting rude and very upset. They basically told us we could leave. WHAT. Eventually they put us at a high top table in the bar area (how special... not so much). We were just happy to finally be seated and eating. We knew if we left and went elsewhere it would be pretty hard to get a table. They put us in an unfortuna... Read more

Sat Feb 14 2009My Wife and I have been here before and everything was good so of course we came back. This time it was terrible and we decided to come on Valentines Day because we wanted some good food. Nope this was CLEARLY not the case I ordered fried oysters for appitizer they tasted like grease and were cold. For our main course we ordered the Crab Legs we got only three clusters and they were so small and cold along with the fact they were not seasoned. The Claws were the size of Claws on Blue Crabs. Now the drinks were the best we had the Killer Margaritas WOW is all i can say. This was HORRIBLE NOT RECOMMENDED.

Fri Feb 13 2009I'm one to try anything at least once (let's clarify, almost anything) and if I like it I more than likely love it! Don't know if I'll be taking any stolls through the cemetary (conveniently located across the street) however; I tried the shrimp tacos and could swear I'd gone to heaven. I loved the taste, then the sauce (whatever it was), add a little tabasco....mmm mmm good. Love the salad with the 'hot bacon' dressing. The clam chowder is pretty good (the clams are definitely fresh). I've never been disappointed here. Gotta love consistency!

Tue May 06 2008My husband and I ate here on a Monday night and had a great time! The menu was right my alley..tons of things I would have liked to try. I settled on the taco combo platter with fish, shrimp and calamari. It was HUGE!!! and delicious!! My husband had the shrimp and scallops and loved his too. The refills kept coming on the tea and our waiter was really nice. The prices are a steal for the amount and quality of the food. We tried to come on a Sunday and it was PACKED with a 45 minute wait, so we tried again early on a weekday to ensure a more satisfying experience and we weren't dissapointed. Probably my favorite dining experience while in Atlanta!

Sun Apr 06 2008You really can't beat the burger here. The meat, the bun, and the toppings are perfect, and the homemade potato chips that come with it are a treat as well. One of the only burgers I've ever had to which I never add anything, and I wouldn't change a thing. The restaurant offers some other good dishes to try as well, such as the well-made Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer.

Wed Nov 21 2007I have sat at the bar twice and it's been very disappointing. I like the food and the atmosphere is very cool, but it's like sitting in the middle of the desert with your friend. I'm a bartender and know how it works. Take control of your bar and let your guests know that you're there.

Tue Nov 20 2007Went to this great place for dinner on Memorial Drive right across from historic Oakland Cemetary humorously named Six Feet Under. We had the New England clam chowder, spicy, more like a bisque than a soup and delicious. We had fish and chips, fried cod and homemade potato chips, the cod was perfectly done in cornmeal and the chips were crispy and fantastic. The hushpuppies were light and slightly spicy with jalapeno pieces in them. Well worth the trip and the price was less expensive than most places. If you can walk after you are done take a trip thru the Cemetary or take a carriage ride. Will be back soon.

Mon Nov 05 2007Very compfortable! We had a home on the Florida coast when I grew up, This reminds me of some of the spots my father found and took us to back in those days. Simple, but very good food. I aways have the salad with the Wasabi dressing, sooo good. I'm never disapointed. Compaired to the Atlanta Fish Market (which bites bullits....... Awful Place!) This is what I think of when I think of 'compfortable' seafood. It's just great!!!

Mon Sep 10 2007Being from Florida I was not expecting to find a decent seafood restaurant in Atlanta. So I was pleasantly suprised when my friends took my to Six Feet Under. We sat on the upstairs patio and the view of the city was fantastic! I ordered the baked parmesan grouper served with asparagus and spinach. It was so delicious! My friends ordered some fried shrimp (served with some of the best tartar sauce I have ever tasted) and an oyster po'boy. We finished off with a slice of ice cold key lime pie that was drizzled with a strawberry sauce. I was impressed. They also have a large selection of draft beers to choose from. If you haven't been to Six Feet Under you are missing out!

Mon Sep 10 2007During a recent trip to Atlanta, 6 Feet Under was recommended as the place to eat.. We are from the Florida Gulfcoast, so to go that far inland and have good seafood is a challenge. My husband, brother-in-law , myself and the friends we took with us were all delightfully surprised. We were greeted at the door by a friendly hostess, seated promptly, and had our food in a very timely manner. The broiled and the fried scallops were out of this world. My husband had shrimp and grits and, as he would put it, "killer cole-slaw". Others at the table had catfish and grouper. I didn't pay a lot of attention to them because I was too busy devouring my scallops and chips. The servers were friendly, helpful, and keeping our tea refilled (all important to my southern boys). All in all, it was a very pleasant casual dining experience. The food was southern tasty, the service friendly, and our friends have already been back to sample some of their other menu items. Thank you 6 Feet Under for a grea... Read more

Fri Jul 06 2007My hubby and I just happened upon this place on a Saturday night while driving down Memorial Drive and we just love it!! It was crowded, but we didnt have to wait but about 15 minutes. The food is FABULOUS and very, very fresh. We got the steamed platter, kind of like a low-country-boil, and the size of the platter was huge. Crab legs, shrimp, oysters, potatoes, corn and everything was 30 dollars! It is amazing that this restaurant is so inexpensive to be soooo good. Most of the items on there are very inexpensive. Our waitress was great and so cute and always smiling. There is no other restaurant that I will ever go to for seafood anymore. The parking is less than desireable, however the food is worth the hassle.

Sat May 05 2007You know I thought my stepfather and i had got the jackpot on finding this gem of a local restaurant to dine at. While the food was immaculate and delectable, neither my father or I was however NOT pleased, when it came down to the service that was given upon our second consecutive visit to this establishment. On May 5th 2007 we had our first sample of the atmosphere, and the fine dining at this establishment. After spending in access of $60.00 at the bar in cocktails and appetizer's, we were so impressed that we decided to have full dining experience for a very special occasion the following evening. However upon ending our dining the following night on May 6th at approx. 9:45pm having the nicest and most enjoyable evening, we graciously paid yet another hefty bill for dining in access of 70.00 and tipping the normal 20% for superior service, My step dad re-entered the establishment because he forgot his bag, which held his medications and personal effects; see my step-father is some-... Thu Feb 15 2007Oh my goodness! My boyfriend and I were looking through the paper for a new hangout to eat dinner. "Six feet Under" grabbed our attention. Got directions and headed out. Place was packed but lucky for us we found an empty parking space. The wait wasn't too long before we sat down to order. Food came back in good timing. The food was so good...YUMMY! And very affordable. Can't wait to go back again soon.

Thu Feb 08 2007Yes it's cold, it's February, and yes we wanted Seafood. We decided to go last night to SFU, Thursday, to avoid the weekend crowds and wait. Well it was crowded and we still had to wait. But it was more than worth it. Atlanta has many high-end seafood dining destinations, but this little seafood shack on Memorial Dr. is off the Hook! Located across from Oakland Cementary, where some of my relatives are resting, Six Feet Under is very much alive. Tops here are the fried seafood baskets. Tops being the farm-raised catfish, cole-slaw, and the worlds best hush-puppies. A combo basket with cod, shrimp and oysters, is outstanding also. Best app, is the crispy and crunchy fried green tomatoes. Not fancy, not expensive, but just Southern Comfort Seafood at it's finest. Service is swift and witty. Parking can be a hassle, but can be found, close by.

Sun Jan 07 2007we went for the first time on a saturday night and i will never do that again unless i call ahead for reservations..etc we were told a 45 min wait and waited 1 and 1/2 hrs. the parking is terrible so be prepared to circle the block a few times to find a spot. aside from that, the food is absolutely wonderful. we had the seafood quesadillas and fried green tomatoes for appetizers and they were great. i had clam chowder which was awesome and the fried catfish with coleslaw and hushpuppies. those were some of the best hushpuppies i have ever tasted in my life. hands down. my friend had the combo basket with fried cod, shrimp & oysters and all of our food was excellent. the service was great, everyone was very friendly and i would go back in a heartbeat - i know now to call ahead or go during the week or some other time when it is not as busy. also, the prices were low for the quality of the taste and amount of food you get.

Sun Dec 03 2006Absolutely wonderful experience. We were able to call ahead to get our name on the list. Parking was only a slight problem on a Saturday night, but I spent no more than 5 minutes and one round trip around the parking lot to find a space. The building is a restored 1920 structure with tons of character. Cheyanne was our charismatic server; all i can say about her is personality plus. I asked for a suggestion, " I was thinking of the Fish and Chips." She said "boring." She then suggested to a the three fish tacos and the combo basket. We were suprised out how good fried fish could be. I would highly recommend this very affordable, unique eatery.

Sat Nov 11 2006If you want to relax, this is the place to go. Have a beer, have some seafood and enjoy yourself.

Mon Oct 30 2006Before it gets too cold to sit outside, ask a table on the roof. The view overlooking Oakland Cemetary is beautiful, especially right at sunset. Sometimes we take a walk around the cemetary, then walk over to Six Feet Under for peel and eat shrimp and drinks. This place get ridiculously busy during prime time in the evening, and especially on weekends, so wait until later to avoid standing outside and waiting an hour for a table.

Thu Oct 12 2006I couldn't say enough about this place. Everytime we've been there our server was funny, energetic, helpful and honest! Management came by the table and greeted us, everything I've ever ordered has been EXCELLENT! The food is full of flavor and character. I haven't tasted crabcakes that good since I was in the Chesapeake Bay area of Maryland! The music is so cool and the bar is fun....If you want a great casual experience and like seafood, this is the place! Seriously people check this spot out!!!!!! Don't be deterred by the location, it very cool there!

Sun Aug 06 2006Jeez, I went there wanting to like this place: good reputation, good reviews. But I found the food mediocre and the service indifferent. It may have been an off night for the service, but as for the food: If you're going to be mediocre, at least be generous! Two smallish breaded cod filets swimming in a sea of overfried unsalted potato chips for ten bucks? No fries with the burger? Don't open a restaurant if you don't love food and love sharing it.

Tue May 09 2006I really enjoy dining at Six Feet Under. The service is good and the food is yummy! If you like soup please try the chicken fajita soup and u will see it's awesome. Currently my favorite choice is the fried shrimp, cod and oysters basket but I have been very pleased with all of my selections thus far! Please DO NOT let the parking situation or wait (if it's crowded) deter you or you wil surely miss out on a real seafood treat!! Great food and great service= SIX FEET UNDER

Tue Apr 18 2006Finally got a chance to eat here on a weekday as every time i've gone on the weekend its packed. Couldnt find a place to park in their small lot so we parked on a side street. There was someone outside the restaurant that followed us back to our car after we ate asking for money, but I guess thats to be expected around there. I had the shrimp tacos which were very good. I could eat these everyday. Our waitress was really nice refilling the water, giving us extra salsa without us asking and even though it was busy, told us to take our time after giving us the check. I'm definitely making a trip back to try something different, although it will be difficult not to order the taco's again.

Sun Feb 26 2006In Short Leapfrogging Ria's Bluebird to its new digs a mere 3 doors down, Six Feet Under didn't miss a beat when it changed locations off Meorial Drive. It still overlooks the cemetery and yes, it still has a rooftop patio. Gone are the blond wood-paneled walls, but that down-home fishhouse feel came with it to the loftier space in the Jane. Efficient servers bustle amid wooden tables and booths, adding to the convivial atmosphere that draws a lively crowd of young singles and families. While the fish tacos are tasty and playful, like a true seafood house--the best fish here is fried. The light and flaky Georgia catfish platter comes with sides of coleslaw--delightfully enhanced by white raisins--crispy hush puppies and decent corn on the cob. The smoky sauteed rainbow trout platter with spinach and potatoes stands out as a slightly healthier alternative to the popular baskets of battered seafood.

Mon Oct 17 2005I saw the Top 10 Hamburgers in Atlanta and could not BELIEVE that Six Feet Under wasn't on there. They have the BEST burgers! People, try it and see. You won't be disappointed... But their seafood is all right. Not the best I've ever had. Quite a disappointment, but that's just my opinion...

Fri Sep 23 2005I absolutely loved this place. Having lived several years in Savannah, GA, I've been craving a good casual seafood dining option - This is IT! It's a great place to hang out with friends, have some drinks and indulge in seafood. My entire party was throughly pleased and gave me kudos for picking this restaurant.

Tue Jul 12 2005This place is now a regular for my boyfriend and I. We come here at least 3 times a month. The crab cake po boy is one of my faves along with the shrimp and scallops. We normally get pretty good service, if its a busy night, it might be slower than usual, but certainly not horrible.

Tue Mar 01 2005This was my first time here and I am a convert. For anyone who is looking for Good Southern Seafood, this is the place! I had seared tuna topped with black and white seaseme seeds and cucumber wasabi, and a colorful stir-fried veggie salad underneath. It was beautiful, and the fish was incredible. They have a patio overlooking the Oakland Cemetary that would be perfect for summer nights!

Sat Sep 11 2004This place has it all, they are right on target with great food, fab drinks, and attentive service! Best import beers on tap than anywere in the area! We visit regularly and they know how to please! One of the owners is virtually always there and checks up to make sure you are happy! (If there is any problem he works hard to correct it ASAP, the only time we had a problem we were compensted with a free dessert & gift certificate for our next visit.....no that is good customer service.)

Tue Sep 07 2004Six Feet under, along with Ria's Bluebird Diner, has brought a new life and vitality, and a reason to visit, often, Atlanta's oldest near-in neighborhood, Grant Park/ Memorial Drive at Historic Oakland Cemetery. Atmosphere:friendly, safe, warm, diverse, eclectic and inviting, reminded me of Manual's in the late fifties my first visit. Clearly a locally owned, managed and loved establishment that intends to be a long-time part of the neighborhood. Food is great, some better than others, but always tasty and Value priced. Last time I was there, spotted policemen, City Councilwoman, several Legislators, state officials, the Civic Association President, a family of six, a table full of "Red Hat" women, biker dudes and hip-hop cats, all having a grand time. I love the Crab Cakes, best I have had since Baltimore. The Deck overlooking Oakland Cemetery is the BEST PLACE IN ATLANTA to enjoy a beer and an evening sunset(spectular Capitol view).

Wed Sep 01 2004What makes 6FU great is the combination of great food, great bar, great music, great atmosphere, and great staff.....You may not like everything about one particular facet of 6FU, but odds are it's the combo of these things or your absolute love of one of them that will keep bringing you back.....Catfish Tacos, Sassy Funny Kind Servers/Bartenders, Juxbox, Balcony overlooking the cemetery, generous owners and managers who give you bucks to come back, Crab Leg Buckets, In town location and clientele, bar locals and conversation running the gamut of utter, yet hilarious, BS to political and world issues, Sports viewing.....Whatever you "DIG" (wink, wink), you'll find it Six Feet Under....every friend I've brought or recommended goes back again and again.......Bet you will too...

Wed Jan 01 2003Friends took us here and it was great. The menu has a great variety. My scallops were slightly tough but still enjoyable. I usually skip dessert but their choices were too good and I enjoyed every bite of my berry cobbler. Our service was attentive and friendly. In all fairness though were eating at 5:00 p.m. on a Sunday so, good service should be easy at that time. Great addition to the neighborhood and worth the drive - especially if you are at an event downtown.

Sat Oct 19 2002We really enjoyed the casual but knowledgable atmosphere of Six Feet Under. The deck is great (crowded), but inside there's a great jukebox, and an open, light eating environment. The food, fried and steamed is yummy if not perfectly done.
