Shleppers moving consultant, Joy, was very difficult to work with; although sweet, she was clearly incompetent regarding pricing my items. I sent her up to five separate emails asking her to include items on my pricing list (e.g., 8x10 rug, 30 inch computer monitor), which she said "yes, I have included them." However, I looked at the bill of lading, and none of the items were present. I called back numerous times; this process took nearly three days and many emails/voicemails. The movers arrived and the first thing TJ, the foreman, says is "Oh, well, this is going to require AT LEAST five more heavy boxes which is going to cost you." TJ implied that I had inaccurately listed my items to be moved. I detailed the difficultly I had with Joy, the moving consultant, and he said he understood, stating she was great "EYE CANDY" and that is why Shleppers continued to employ her, despite her incompetency. INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED!!! I apologize in advance for this lengthy review. We were moving from Tribeca NY to Greenwich CT. We received 4 quotes and while Shleppers was the most expensive, Charles from Shleppers assured us that "you get what you pay for" and we would receive white glove treatment. I have 3 very small children so I actually decided to pay up and do it right for the move. I have moved 6 times in the city and have always used Flat Rate with no problems so I am kicking myself for switching! They sent this man and his team who walked in and quickly helped themselves to drinks from my fridge. I had been told that they would start to load the truck and kept asking if they would but they just brushed me off. They left at 1:30 with many things not even packed much less on the truck and my apartment was a mess. Tape and sodas everywhere. i have moved several times in the last 8 years - 2 cross country moves complete with packing services. this was my first local lower budget move from manhattan to upstate. 3 guys were running up and down 5 flights of stairs out of my apartment. no complaints at all. great service. very fast. no BS extra charges (there could have been) everything was as advertised. on the phone they were very responsive and flexible with 3 changes to my moving time and date. i compared 3 other movers and am very satisfied with my choice. big thumbs up.

They started off rocky when the crew arrived over an hour late (and I was the 1st move in the morning). That wouldn't have been such a big deal except that when they billed me, they said their start time was a half hour before they arrived... Within 30 min of arriving at our apt, one of the movers went and sat in my bathroom for almost half an hour. I couldn't go in afterwards to pack up my stuff it smelled so bad. Then the whole crew walked off the job for 15-20 minutes because I complained about the guy in the bathroom. When we got to our new apt, the driver parked the truck a good 1/4 - 1/2 mile down the block and the crew walked everything up and down the street (it was a nice, sunny, warm autumn day...). They did this until I spoke to the lead of the crew and then they drove around parked in front of the building. Ridiculous. We called Schleppers at the last minute when another apartment became available in our bldg. We needed to schedule the move within 4 days. Hude helped us schedule the move with packing. The price was excellent. The movers George, Moses & Raoul did an excellent job, very professional, respectful & efficient. Even though the move took twice as long as we anticipated, the price did not double! Not only would I use Schleppers again, but I would ask for these particular guys by name.

I just used Shleppers to move from a large two bedroom to a smaller one bedroom in NYC. Shleppers was great. They showed up on time (a little early, actually). The guys they sent worked really fast, and nothing got broken. They gave me the choice of a flat rate or hourly rate. I chose hourly and was glad to see that in the end, the price came out as less than the estimates I had gotten from companies that offer a “guaranteed” or “flat” price. I also used them to store some of my furniture that wouldn’t fit in the new apartment. They made everything really easy on me. I’d recommend Shleppers to anyone.

We just used Shleppers for the second time. The first was for our own move (see my moving and having a baby review below) and this time was to help a relative move from New York to Miami. Again, Shleppers was terrific. They were extremely accommodating in meeting us, packing up the belongings and shipping them Miami. Everything arrived in perfect condition. Shleppers is who you want to use to get a fair price, excellent service and a hassle-free move.

We moved from NYC to CT last summer and had an amazing experience with Schleppers! It was a 3 day marathon, but these guys worked so hard and so carefully that we didn't have a single box left at the end of the 3rd day, and nothing was damaged or broken. We had a great team of guys who unloaded 3 huge trucks in 90+ degree heat. They were so courteous and thoughtful! One neatly folded my 1 yr old daughter's clothes for her dresser. Another helped my mom organize my entire kitchen! We liked the guys so much that we hugged them good-bye and took a photo together! I would only ever use Schleppers and would recommend them highly to everyone!

The guys did a great job with our move. Our main concern was doing the move in a timely manner. We have a dog and a baby, so timing was key. Our next main concern was making sure everything made it in one piece. They showed up bright and early as scheduled, and they completed everything on schedule as well. This showed me that the estimate they gave me for packing, transportation, and unpacking was correct. We had a 2 BR apt, and they packed it up very carefully and quickly. I was very happy that they also packed all of our glass and crystals individually. One guy basically spent the whole time in the kitchen wrapping everything! As we unpacked we were very happy to find not one chip in our dishes, cups, and wine glasses. (We didn't want to lose our Reidels in the move!) I've now moved three times with Shleppers and they do a great job. They're reliable, professional and fast. I'm hoping not to have to move again in the near future, but if I do, I'll pick Shleppers again. Ask for Keema (sp?) when you call - I've named her my "moving angel."

The whole process with movers is supposed to be simple, but sometimes we fall into the wrong situations. I heard from a friend of mine that wanted to do a local moving in New York, just a few blocks away from his place. He called a local independent guy that will do the moving, and they got into argue about the price. The mover did a bad job, and my friend didn’t find two of his boxes. From this point I decided I will only work with professionals when it is got to do with moving. I really liked Shleppers, which I used in my last move. They were very friendly and didn’t charge for too much money. Everything was clear, and I didn’t have any unpleasant surprises. You can check it out for yourself if you plan to move in, from or to New York, I assure you won’t be disappointed.

I first heard about this company from a friend of mine after he settled in New York City. He said that he never got such a nice service from movers and they fixed all his belongings in his new home pretty nicely. When I had to move a few weeks afterward, I remembered his recommendation and also called Shleppers moving company. He was right, and it really is a great company. They packed everything quickly, put it in the truck and an three hours later my new home was ready. Besides that, I had a nice conversation with two of movers about baseball, and afterwards we sat down in my home for a cup of coffee. I felt really good and secured when Shleppers handled my belongings, and I recommend you too to do the same and call Shleppers moving company for your next move.

Last year my company sent me to Europe for six month. The decision to move was sudden and I didn?t really know how to pack all my life into boxes within a few days? For all that is related to packing my belongings, moving them and keeping everything in storage, Shleppers did an outstanding job. They took care for all the little details, so I was able to prepare better for my relocation. Once I got back from Europe, I just called Shleppers again and they immediately moved all my things to my new place. It was really nice to get my old living room back without any scratch or flaw. I recommend all New York City residents to use Shleppers for your next move.

The foreman, Gonzolo really had it all under control. I have a floor to ceiling custom made book shelf that was built into the wall. I had a US Army Ranger try to remove it for quite a while and could not. I had another mover come by for a few hours of packing and said if he were to remove the built in, the whole wall would be destroyed. Well, Gonzolo, got it down in under three minutes. Yes, three minutes. Leaving no marks on my wall. I hope the guys that deliver it to my new location in the future are as good as Gonzolo. His crew was pretty good too. Thank you ~

I have afriend that used these guys at the last minut and we all were thinking we were going to have to work hard, well it turned out that we just sat and drank and ate pizza. As far as movers go they were quick and east and efficient. i love shleppers movers!

I'll keep this short and sweet. Why NOT use Shleppers? From the start they were professional and pleasant to deal with. They showed up on-time, were very careful with my belongings, and delivered exactly what they promised. Tremendous value and I would personally recommend Shleppers to anyone... especially someone who, like me, just hates to move!

Shleppers Moving & Storage has been a horrible company to deal with. For a cross country move, Shleppers' packers "packed" an antique crystal family heirloom by putting a blanket on the bottom of a box that was too small for the item, and just dropping it in and putting another large heavy item in the same box. Needless to say, both items were destroyed. They never mentioned or even offered the extra moving insurance (provided by a third party) - the moving insurance is cheap! for an extra $150 i don't know anyone who wouldn't purchase it! Had we known it was an option we would ABSOLUTELY have purchased it. If you don't buy the insurance, your sure-to-be-broken and sure-to-be-expensive item will only be worth SIXTY CENTS PER POUND OF THE ITEM. Your grandfather's autographed Jackie Robinson baseball was "lost" during the move? So frustrated with them, have called 6 times (seriously!) to just get them to send a receipt of service (they'll completely ignore emails). They say "of course we will" on the phone and then no response. So weird when people lie blatantly to your face. The initial quote will be much lower than final bill (be extremely precise in listing what will be moved). They also subcontract out their moves from NY to guys that absolutely cram your stuff in with multiple other shipments and then throw it around at the other end. I watched the head mover walk on top of the shipments as he looked for stuff, saying "whups" as cracks emanated from below. They demand final payment on delivery in cash, which can be inconvenient. They will sound quick, cheap, and efficient at the beginning but experience will degrade once they have you committed.

I cant say enough about Shleppers Moving and Storage. They moved me out of my NYC apt into storage and then back into nyc 3 months later. Both moves couldnt go any smoother. Both moves the moving men were soo pleasant and made me feel so comfortable. They showed up when they told me they were going to come and then moved me in literally 20 minutes. The prices were amazing, and there no hidden costs. I would highely recommend Shleppers to anyone small or big move. They were fantastic!!!

Background: My girlfriend and I were moving a 1BR from Brooklyn to the Bronx. We had a requirement from the building management that we had to be fully moved in between 9:00AM and 5:00PM on Friday. We had never hired a moving company before, but we were exhausted from previous moves in the past years and could not take enough time off work to properly move out in accordance with these conditions. We had estimates from Flate Rate movers ($500 above our intended costs) and Reputable (who I'm pretty sure are a bunch of scam artists...they wanted a paypal deposit and were dicey on the phone). Good stuff first: The second part of the move (moving day itself) was BEAUTIFUL. The four guys involved deserve MAJOR KUDOS AND PRAISE! Dennis the foreman, Joseph, Khalid, and Hector. Shleppers was a wonderful company...UNTIL they packed all of our belongings into their truck; whereupon they proceed to renege on every verbal statement told to us and held a twenty-page boilerplate contract over our heads while they held all of our possessions hostage. We used Shleppers for a long distance move from NY to Florida after seeing their good reviews. After negotiation, got a fair quote. Preliminary questions were answered promptly by customer service. On pick-up, Shleppers showed two hours late and attempted to add $300 in fees, which I refused to pay since I had specifically negotiated a flat rate to include said fees. Day before delivery, we were told that we would have to pay CASH or equivalent for the second half of payment. After saying we were told that we could pay with credit card, we were called liars and told we had no choice but to pay in cash. These guys are fantastic. They came 15 minutes early, the foreman had all the paperwork in hand and knew exactly what needed to be done. The apt we were moving out of was a complete wreck and these guys did a GREAT job packing up our belongings and moving them safely. They even packed the porcelein/chinaware from our kitchen - and not a single thing was cracked or broken when we unpacked. Our apt had a lot of tricky corners, and these guys knew how to pad everything and move them at the right angles to get everything out in one piece. They even knew how to dismantle the crib (and put it back together) and, as we requested, the nursery was the first room they unpacked and setup. I have used Shleppers a lot the past year. Every time they have been perfect - hard working, careful with all our belongings, clean and pleasent. They treated my moves as if they were moving their own stuff. Not one thing was broken. With all the service the prices were very reasonable. Will use them again in the future for any moving needs.

My wife and I just moved and used these guys...THEY WERE GREAT! The Shelppers crew that came out to us were thorough, quick, and professional. It was a ridiculously hot day and they did the move in record time (and nothing was broken). Moving is such a hassle and the Shleppers guys really made the process a whole lot easier. The moving team did a great job packing and loading our stuff for a long distance relocation. We had a misunderstanding about the pricing that arised 2 days before the move but it was resolved to our satisfaction. Great job so far, I will write an update after our stuff arives in California

Although the crew arrived on time, generally handled our belongings with care, and was relatively polite, the move was poorly planned and staffed given the challenges of an interstate move from an elevator building in New York to a 4th floor walk-up in Boston. Three men loaded our truck, one of which did most of the physically demanding work. It turns out that he did not travel to our destination with the two other members of our crew, which left two physically unprepared men to carry all of our belongings up four flights of stairs at our new home. The truck also took seven hours to drive between New York and Boston (5 hours is more than reasonable). It was almost 9 pm by the time they BEGAN unloading the truck. They finished at 1:30 am the next morning, after paying a stranger off the street who solicited them for money to assist them. I used Shleppers for a recent move from my apartment in the city to another apartment in the burbs. My contract stated that they would pack up my place and get everything moved within a 9-6 timeline, as my old building and my new building required. A rep from Shleppers came to my place and we clearly discussed what needed to be packed and what our time-frame was. It was then all spelled out in our contract. I was concerned about getting all of this done in that time frame, so they even agreed to be at my place an hour early to get packing. Let me start with the good: it all got done and the movers were courteous and efficient. Now the bad: they showed up 3 hours late and had no idea that they were supposed to be doing most of the packing. On top of that, once everything got moved into our new place, we discoved that several items had broken in transit and our furniture was badly scratched in several visible places. It?s said that after death and divorce moving is the next most stressful event. On the day of our move, I went into labor with my twins. While I was in the hospital, my mother supervised the move with Shleppers. They were incredible! Everything was impeccably packed and unpacked (we didn?t have a single broken item), and Gonzalo and his crew were extremely professional, personable and patient. Shleppers was accommodating from the beginning: they provided us the flexibility to change our move date when our new apartment wasn?t finished and they also rescheduled Gonzalo?s crew to come back after I got home from the hospital to finish the unpacking. I?ve moved several times including a cross-country move, and Shleppers is by far the best. They are very fairly priced, wonderful to work with, and provide an extremely high level of service. We were extremely -- and if I weren't using email I would underscore and bold "extremely" -- pleased with the two jobs Shleppers did for us this past Monday and Tuesday. The crew, led by Gonzolo and comprised of Luis, Scott, Courtney and Ivan, were efficient, prompt, careful, supremely competent (and real strong!). Nothing we asked for was ever too much; their standard answer was "of course we'll do that; whatever you need." In fact, at 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, at the end of a long and hard day with the snow still falling and the roads turning to ice, Gonzolo ended the job with a question: "Is there anything else we can do for you before we leave?"

Ask yourself this; why is it that a company has so many AMAZING 5 star reviews (all mostly done on the same days mind you) and then there are HORRIBLE reviews? Probably because there is some serious damage & spin control going on. We have had to file with the BB Bureau, The US D.O.T., 2 insurance companies & no doubt, small claims court. All those horror stories you hear about movers came true with Shleppers. We did a NY to LA move and got Shlepped bad. They claim to wrap & pack all of your electronics carefully, not so. Our lamps were put into a truck as is (bulbs included!). Needless to say, they didn't make it. bose speakers are badly scratched, as well as many odds & ends. 2 tables were not wrapped & are badly dug up, and then there's the antique armoire. They basically destroyed it attempting to get it out of the NY apartment (they took it apart with out telling us!).
