Wed Jan 19 2011This is a College beer, it's heavy, dark and almost too Sweet. The few times I do drink it I have to cut it with Salt. Many will see this as a Sacrilege, I'm sure but that's about the only way I can drink it. If you can over look the sweetness though, it's really not a bad Beer.

Mon Mar 01 2010When Shiner Bock first came out (around 1995) I thought it was really good. But, now I find it to be sort of bland and watery. Did they tinker with the recipe to give it more mass appeal? I used to look for it in a bar, but now I avoid it. Maybe I should give it another try. RJt

Sat Jan 23 2010If you think this beer tastes like bud light you've only tried two beers. I love shiner, its dark enough but not heavy so you can get alot in you without feeling to full. Great after taste and the price is GREAT for the quality. I love living an hour from this brewery.

Mon Aug 10 2009This is a wonderful Texas beer! I am proud that my state has the reputation of brewing this wonderful beer! Good flavor, straight taste all the way through, and a great aftertaste to follow. I can drink a 12 pack easily.

Tue Dec 23 2008Shiner Bock is unusual in that it is a year round product. Generally, bock beer is a springtime product only. This is a good tasting beer, excellent on tap!

Mon Dec 15 2008Too Wheaty for me!

Tue Dec 02 2008These Texans have a lot more German brewmastery than you think, and you can taste it. A good American Bock, and a great value.

Thu Feb 28 2008Not a bad dark beer, kind of a first foray away from American macro-beer. Sweet and tasty which makes it very drinkable. Not enough of a flavor profile or hops to please most craft-beer drinkers.

Sun Feb 24 2008It is a decent dark beer. Not great, but much better than some pricier offerings I've tried.

Fri Nov 02 2007Pours dark reddish-brown with a medium head. Aroma of bread dough, over-ripe fruit and alcohol. I think this is slightly more flavorful than Amber Boch from Michelob, but that is as far as the compliments go. It has loads of hot fusel alcohols (the kind that cause nasty hangovers), and is too sweet for my taste. If you want a real bock try Schneider Aventinus, and you'll never go back.

Wed Oct 17 2007I love this beer! It has a somewhat bold, yet satesfying, taste! It's pretty much all I drink when it comes to beer. I usually get the 12 pack box for about 10-14.00 in your local grocery store.

Thu Nov 02 2006Never tried it myself but have some friends that call it their favorite so it must be ok...I will try it soon. (being the lush that I am)

Wed Nov 01 2006Only had the chance to try this once and I enjoyed it. Would like to try their other special ales.

Wed Nov 01 2006With a case of Shiner Bock under my arm and a good woman at my side, I could conquer kingdoms. The chick can stay at home even.

Thu Nov 10 2005Shiner Bock is a great beer that I had forgotten was as good as it is. I've recently drank it again, and was more impressed than I remembered. It is great tasting and goes down smooth for a darker beer.

Mon Apr 18 2005The original is the only one I'll drink, I love it and since moving to Texas, is the only beer worth mentioning down here.Best on tap;smooth,cold,dark.... yum Don't think would be good elsewhere since if it gets a little bit old, it starts tasting sour...

Sun Feb 20 2005great beer! re:prev. comment-i thought ziegenbock was just a fancy name for another Miller product. shiner is relatively unknown outside of texas

Wed Feb 16 2005Pretty good dark beer, but I actually prefer Ziegenbach when it comes to Texas brew.

Mon Feb 14 2005Perhaps one of the best kept secrets in all of beerdom. Delicious and smooth, tastes great ice cold on a hot Texas day. I can't remember if I have seen it up here in Maryland. I guess it is another thing to miss like Whataburgers and real Mexican food!

Sun Aug 08 2004Best Beer I ever had. But if you don't live here in Texas its hard to find. Puts Miller Coors and Bud to shame.

Wed Jun 12 2002A staple of my beer diet. There isn't a good amount of decent beers available here, but this is definately the top of the heap.

Wed Feb 20 2002This beer might just be one of the best kept secrets since not many people outside of Texas know just how consistently good it is. Incredibly smooth with not much of an aftertaste. Well worth the money if you haven't tried it before.

Wed Jan 30 2002Shiner is one of the best smaller brewery beers you could ever run across. It's a dark bock beer, with a lighter taste. When you try it, it doesn't taste like any other dark beer you've ever had. Smooth, full-bodied, very tasty. Shiner bock is a great beer to drink out on the boat.

Sat Jun 02 2001One of the BEST beers I've ever had! Great taste and fairly "smooth." Little to no aftertaste (like some of the other "bock's" or dark beers). Never got a headache from this one either. Hard to find outside of Texas, but worth the search!

Fri May 25 2001If you are in Texas and you want to drink what the locals drink, then try one of these. If you are anywhere else, don't bother. Shiner Bock is syrupy and will give you a pounding headache almost immediately - there are plenty of quality dark beers out there, there's no need to swallow this cough mediciney swill.
