Tue Feb 17 2009Boring, dull, ugly, and too close to the airport- it sounds like Rodan is about to swoop down and seize the second baseman.

Sat Nov 17 2007It is starting to get long in the tooth and needs to be replaced. This is 1960's blah.

Wed Nov 07 2007I haven't followed baseball since the Dodgers deserted Ebbets Field, so the only time I ever set foot in Shea Stadium was for Grand Funk Railroad. We had free tickets.

Thu Aug 09 2007please don't waste your time reading this junk. Most of the reviews here are from people who have never been to the stadium and base their rating from other people's opinions (Braves and Phillies fans). This stadium is not very impressive, but it is as bad as some people say it is. For some real reviews (most from college graduates and rational human beings) please read these reviews instead http://www.epinions.com/sprt-Venues-Shea_Stadium

Thu Aug 09 2007i'm a braves fan, and i don't mind the stadium. i'll actually be a little sad to see it go. after all, chipper friggin crushes in this stadium. he bounced one off his name on the score board in right center just this afternoon. he even named his son after the stadium. anyway, i hate the mets... but i actually kind of like shea. it's got history and character.

Sat Jul 23 2005Never fear mets fans!According to NY Newsday,Shea Stadium is history in the year 2009.It's going torn down and be replaced by a better and more advanced ballpark.

Wed Jun 01 2005Expensive, inconvienent parking. Expensive, BAD food. Unclean. Acustical nightmare. Ugly. Grumpy ushers who dry your seat with a WET towel then expect a tip.

Tue May 10 2005A hole. A dump. Met fans aren't the friendliest, either.

Thu Apr 14 2005Hey it's old but it has history. I liked it. I went in 1995 so I think it was prior to some improvements. I sat in the upper deck. Not an area for the weak stomached or those with vertigo. Only bad part was a nasty fight with my girl but hey I was at the ballgame so it was still a good day.

Mon Mar 07 2005i've been going here since 2003 and i dont see much wrong w/the place. it's held up better than most stadiums it's age. the organization has made some modern additions to Shea. the food seems fine, standard Ballpark fare, which is better than sitting next to some ass eating chicken fingers at a ballgame. beer is cheaper than over at Yankee Stadium. plus if you have to sit in the cheap seats, as i do, you still get resonably priced seats. Field is well groomed too.

Mon Mar 07 2005What a Dump. Inside and out. And the frontrunner fans who whine and bitch about everything under the sun makes this place a complete nightmare to visit. Of course where is this oversized toilet. Flushing!

Mon Mar 07 2005I've been going to Shea since I was 3 years old. The place is a completely run down dump. The third base line seats actually don't sit at a proper angle toward the plate so you spend the whole game looking in an awkward position. The mezzanine section is horribly constructed and gives you limited view of any balls hit in the air due to the intrusive over hang of the upper deck. The construction itself is very old and dirty looking. The green level makes the color coordination look ridiculous. The loud speaker system is horrible. The food is very limited compared to the newer parks and is simply poor to start out with. Even that dumb apple in center field that goes up when the Mets actually do hit a homerun is old and beaten. In the biggest baseball market in the world this place is an embarrassing disaster! Only a stadium so poor could make me happy about watching my favorite football team play 16 away games a year.

Sat Feb 05 2005How could anyone like this dump? I hate the Yankees, but I've been to both Shea and Yankee Stadium, and Yankee Stadium is far superior. Mets desperately need a new stadium.

Sat Jul 31 2004Not as bad as I was expecting. People were nice and it is an old stadium. I had a good time.

Wed Jun 04 2003This place was a dump the day it opened and is located in about the worst place imaginable for a ballpark, but the franchise has made major efforts to make the stadium at least adequate by contemporary standards. The food is OK, the playing field is good and most sight lines are decent. The team, win or lose, is generally a loveable outfit, and the fans are usually knowledgeable, well-behaved and good-natured. Sure beats those scoundrels, slobs, losers, dickweeds and felons you run into at Yankee Stadium.

Sat Mar 22 2003A view of Industrial Queens and a stadium that's falling apart. An eye-sore when you drive by it on the GCP. C'mon Mets you could do a lot better for New York.

Wed Feb 26 2003I am a die hard Mets fan! But we do need a new stadium, but with the economy doing bad since the 9/11 tragedy, us Mets fans will have to wait. GO METS 2003!!!!!

Mon Jan 20 2003Shea was a great place - 20 years ago. With the revenue generated in the NY market - it's a disgrace that the Mets still play here. Was a season ticket holder with the Jets for 21 years, many of which were played in Shea. It's a toilet. Besides horrible to get in and out of by car. You must be armed to ride the subway and the Long Island railroad isn't much better.

Mon Dec 16 20025 stars for being the only baseball park that doesn't smell like urine a mile around it. . . Went there and the friends were so friendly yet they still got into their game. . . across town I went to one with my son, who got a nice drenching from about 12 drunks for cheering for the mets. Hows that for ruining a 10 year old's day (week). Its hard to believe that they're both in the same town? Maybe its just because the worst of the worst cheer for the Yankees, which makes sense. The class acts cheer those mets. . . and thank god for them too!

Tue Dec 18 2001Shea Stadium. Where else can you have a chance of a 767 crashing into CenterField? It is home to the Amazin`s and man it is Amazin that I rated it a 5. A Stadium that was built in the era of so-called Cookie-Cutter Stadiums, it is an ok satdium. I would love to see a new ballpark though.

Mon Jun 18 2001I just visited Shea Stadium and I now understand why this team is lobbying for a new stadium. There is no place that can be deemed 'good parking'. The area directly around the stadium is void of any interest. The Stadium facility itself is decripit at best. We had seats out in left field and provided all you wanted to look at was the left fielder or out over the left centerfield fence, you were fine. This facility is not a facility set up for baseball and it shows. On the good side the fans in the seats were very nice, if a little fanatical about their Mets.

Fri Mar 16 2001Whoever thinks this stadium is bad should not be allowed to be a baseball fan, let alone a Mets fan. It is perfect for changes in the regular schedule, like postseason play because it is very easy to add new features to it to accomodate different things.

Sun Mar 11 2001A hairshirt experience; when you're finished, you've earned it. If you can win there... well, you get the picture. Mets fans are the best, among the most knowledgeable in the world, and also among the most cynical and pessimistic. (When the team does well, fair-weather fans are so sickening, you secretly wish for 3rd place every year. But when things are bad, the booing starts before the All-Star break.) The Mets deserve a better park, almost more than any other team in the game.

Thu May 25 2000Not much character to this place. Plus, the planes flying overhead are annoying.

Wed May 24 2000Looked better when the J-E-T-S played there and I hate the J-E-T-S . But I guess it's alright?

Tue Feb 29 2000A lot of lanes to drive into the parking lot, two lanes to drive out. A lot of the seats are too far from the field, but overall, not a bad ballpark.
