Sex on the Beach

best cocktail ever!

Update: When a 14 year old girl like venomaddict below describes this as her favorite cocktail, I know the Apocalypse is at hand. Original Review: Yuk. The problem with sex on the beach, is that sand has a habit of getting into places it has no business being. There is a reason they make sandpaper out of sand.... On a related note, some time ago I was with a group of folks on a bar patio. Some of them friends, some I didn't know. When the waitress came around three of the women ordered one of these. The woman beside me snorted in disdain when the waitress asked if she'd like one too, and ordered a bourbon over crushed ice. I smiled, ordered the same, and asked where she'd been all my life.

Does this drink come in a hetro version?

Let me guess, this drink will provide a climax but I have to drink it in less than five minutes.

I don’t like the taste of most alcoholic beverages that everyone else seems to like (beer, wine, champagne, margarita…yuck!) but I do love sweet girly drinks like Sex on the Beach. It was one of the first drinks I tried upon turning 21 and is still my good old standby.

So sweet you'll swear you're barfing ice cream.

A sex on the beach is not something I would normally reach for as a drink. On the other hand, as a shot, the sex on the beach goes down relatively smoothly. Especially recommended for women (21 or old please!)

Nobody enjoys the feeling of a mouthful of sand going down. The cocktail is awful too.

This is an incredibly fruity, sweet drink. It really doesn't taste much like alcohol and is the quintessential "girly" drink since it's pink-ish in color. I personally don't like it because it is too sweet, but it is popular among people who are occasional drinkers or have just started drinking cocktails and do not enjoy the taste of hard liquor.

One of those drinks that should get a man kicked out of the bar for ordering it. However, its usually an easy drink to sell to ladies. It is always a pleasure though to see a woman who rolls her eyes at another who orders a Sex on the Beach, and then orders a decent drink for herself.

With that combination of ingredients, it's bound to taste good. You wouldn't catch me ordering one in a bar though.

never had one, but I associate the name with the weird, kind of awkward poem Tom Cruise belts out when he's tending bar at that up-scale Manhattan bar in Cocktail. That's worth three stars.

What's with all these X-rated drink names??? "Orgasm"? "Bl0w j0b"? "Sex on the beach"? Whew... That said, I have tried sex on the beach (THE DRINK, that is!), and it is very good. OK, so some people are calling it a "chick drink"--but I AM a chick, albeit a 43-year-old one.

CHICK DRINK ALERT! No self-respecting alcoholic would be caught dead with this high school hotel party fruity girlie joke of a drink. I'd rather drink Old Milwaukee swill than embarass my self with this 2% Kool Aid.

Very quality drink because vodka is pretty easy to drink so that made this easy going down. I wish I was old enough to drink this because of the quality.

It is fun mixing these different flavors and putting them in one shot. You can get silly and just drink the vodka. It sometimes gets crazy and doesn't even taste like it anymore.

It tastes fruity and sweet, always a plus. It's not too strong. It's a good conversation starter in a bar or a club. It reminds me of Hawaii and tropical paradises.

It tastes really good and you can't taste the alcohol in it. It's perfect for people with a low tolerance.

Cranberry juice, orange juice and vodka. That is one of the sweetest combos around! For people who don't like the taste of alcohol, this is the answer. One disclaimer, it's easy to drink too many.

I found this drink somewhat sweet and intoxicating. There is a fruit punch/pineapple taste and you can still taste the liquor. First time I tried it was when I was in the Bahamas at 19. It's one of my favorite drinks.
