Mon Jan 12 2009Sephiroth is perhaps the most popular FF villain ever as we see the footage of him being shown again and again. It's also possible that FF VII is one of the most popular installments that many more related videos/games have spawned from it. A great looking man with silver hair is made to perfection in every aspects - the look, the intelligence, the strength. He's the last of his dying breed and he turned mad for what the world had done to the species of his kind. He started as a kind character and only intended to be good and helpful until he found out about where he came from and what they have done to his mother. The history of him is good and made him interesting, however, from that point on, he lost his character in the game. From that point on, he was just an evil character that showed up with his long, flowy silver locks and his silouette engulfed in flames. He looked cool, but I wish there was more to the development of his character and show more complexity of his inner self.

Wed Nov 29 2006Sephiroth is definately my favorite RPG viallain, and personally I think he's better than kefka, although I know most "die-hard FF fanboys" would disagree with me. Meh.

Wed Aug 16 2006To be honest, I'm not much of a Sephy fan. He's cute, cool, and did me a favor by getting rid of Aeris, true. But, there are a few things about him that keep 'im from getting a score of 5 from me. Firstly, he had little presence. Almost every encounter with "Sephiroth" throughout the game is really just an encounter with Jenova under his control, eh? It gets tiring reeeally fast to think "Hey, here's Sephy!" ... "Oh, nope." about a billion times. Secondly, he's got almost no personality. We find out he fights well, we see him go a little nuts when he finds Jenova, and then we get about 15 minutes max of him emotionally toying with Cloud. He's like a bad psychologist, in reverse... Or something. Deprived of presence and personality, we have nothing to admire but his accomplishments and looks. Looks, as we should all know, are an important part of a villain- but mean absolutely nothing if the rest of him/her doesn't work. His accomplishments consisting of killing slightly more than a tow... Read more

Mon Dec 05 2005Sephiroth is the ultimate villain and it's unlikely that anyone will ever top him. His only flaw is that his plots are a little confusing, but once you figure them out it adds to his image as an evil mastermind. He's extremely powerful and sinister, and the type of person/entity that you would just love to beat. Once the player factors in the meaning of his name from the Kaballah, the implications behind him make him even more impressive. He's evil and smooth about it, unlike Kefka, who is a huge dork, Ultimecia, who we never see, and Kuja, who is extremely flaming and looks like a huge wimp.

Mon Oct 25 2004Greatest villain in any game, let alone an RPG. Incredibly complex and layered character. After every flashback and encounter, our view on him changes. From hate to pity, from fondness to disgust. Also says some of the greatest lines in video game history, including my personal favorite..... You are a puppet.

Sat Jun 26 2004Likely the best RPG villain of all time, certainly the most popular. Well constructed as at first you see his measured yet sensitive side and probably feel some pity for him, though he later commits an unforgivable act which turns this into a vendetta. It's certainly a good thing he avoids the six stories tall, unquestionably evil monster from the depths of hades theme so prevalent in RPGs and is a rather more three-dimensional villain.
