Wed Jul 11 2012I haven't been too impressed with Hillary Clinton's performance as a diplomat; same goes for Susan Rice as well. As a political strategist, she's as sharp as they come, but Hillary simply isn't cut out for the international stage. She makes intemperate statements at the wrong time that typically comes across irrational. More seasoned diplomats like Russia's Lavrov have made her look foolish, the most recent instance being the Syrian issue. Overall, DoS has been managed in an amateurish manner in recent years. I expected a more polished performance, especially given her wide range of government experience and knowledge. Perhaps the Hillary Clinton-managed health insurance debacle in 1994 wasn't an aberration necessarily.

Sat Feb 07 2009Not my first or second choice. . .I've never liked her. Shrewd move by Prince Dumbo. The Hillanator was the media darling (despite what talk-radio and present rainbow-coalition-flavored media claims) for months before Obama was being taken seriously. It was white educated and middle-class (in places like Iowa) not minorities, that gave the initial fuel to his fire. . .others came on the board later. Big O placing the Hillanator close by works for dealings with Israel. . .Hillary was supported by East and West coast money (Jewish influences present) and her appointment appeases Hillazombies who wanted some kind of consolation prize. Hillary isn't the worst pick for Sec. of State when it comes to dealings with Israel, but this one smells to me of keeping her close enough for him to control. I don't buy the line of "Hillary might be too opinionated for the prez" story one bit. . .a new Demo is in office after eight years of a theocracy- Demos would be painfully retarded to try to bl... Thu Dec 11 2008Not my first choice (I would have selected John Kerry) but consistent with Obama's "team of rivals" theme and probably a good choice if he can keep a handle on her (and her husband).

Wed Dec 10 2008I am no Hillary fan but she is tough (she would have been a stronger President than Obama) and is respected overseas.

Tue Dec 09 2008She is not my favorite person in the world, but I think she will do a great job as Secretary of State. She knows her stuff.

Tue Dec 09 2008Where's that virtual bag for me to throw-up in? Being born in NY and living there off and on most of my life, good riddance Hillary is gone. As I've read on many boards, it's NY's gain and the country's loss. I can't think of a more self-serving piece of puke than Hillary. What does she do? She attends Star Jones' wedding and campaigns for Al Franken. Anyway, as mentioned below, she does have star power....maybe she needs to go on 'Star Search.' I'm giving her two stars just because she is out of the senate instead of my usual one star for the tub of gruel.

Mon Dec 08 2008A risky choice, but I think a good one. Secretaries of State need star power - which Hillary has - and they need backbone - which she certainly has. I wouldn't want to have to stare her down.

Mon Dec 08 2008I'm not so sure about this one. Good optics, granted, and she probably has the skills for the job, although I think she's over-rated by partisans. To me, she's a risky choice.

Mon Dec 08 2008She would have had no problem running this country as President, and likewise she will have no problem being Secretary of State. She is a very smart woman .

Mon Dec 08 2008At first I wasn't happy, because I wanted Bill Richardson to get the job, but I know Obama wouldn't have chosen her if he didn't think she was qualified. I'm willing to give her a chance.
