Sat Aug 08 2009Doesn't get the props it deserves or the PR the East Coast cities do (read: NYC). One of the very best US cities and most definitely a great travel destination.

Sat Jan 17 2009If the traffic wasn't so bad at times it would get five stars.

Fri Jun 06 2008If not for the cloudy and rainy days, even in the summer, Seattle would be five stars. You can never plan an outdoor activity like painting the house or getting married on a golf course with this kind of weather. Seattle is stunningly beautiful when the sun is out.

Mon Nov 19 2007This all to often underrated city just happens to have a kick-butt skyline! The best palces to see the city are from Kerry Park (where all the signature photos come from), Alkai Beach, Capitol Hill, the Space Needle itself, any ferry coming in on the Puget Sound and Gasworks Park.

Fri Sep 21 2007I am not from USA originally but I have lived in Seattle for over 9 years now. I just returned from Greece, Athens and in comparsason with it, the first thing i notice every time i come back here is the gray skies and and the quiet life style. Seattle is a beautiful city, and I agree when it shines there is so much to see but i would have loved to have here that inviting weather we had in Athens, warm evenings, non stop social life, the feeling you get that you are alive, life in every corner of the city. I also agree that is much cleaner here at least in comparason with Greece.

Sun Sep 02 2007Seattle and the surrounding areas are great. Beautiful scenery, great views and friendly people. The seafood is unbeatable. It's just the gray sky and the constant rainy drizzle that bothered me.

Thu Jun 14 2007World class skyline for a world class city. Seattle's impressive skyline is incredible from several vantage points around this city. The size of this large skyline is truly impressive from West Seattle across Elliott Bay or as you approach the city from the south on I-5 from SeaTac International Airport. Even coming into the city from the north is impressive as you cross the ship canal bridge with the Space Needle and the skyscrapers looming over Lake Union in the distance. Crossing Lake Washington on the I-90 bridge the skyline jumps out at you as you come around the bend actually on a hill over the city. At night the skyline over the many waterways, lakes, Puget Sound and Elliott Bay will leave you with a lifetime memory of why this city is often referred to as the "Emerald City" because it truly shines. Seattle doesn't really deserve the reputation of always cloudy and rainy since it actually gets less rain than many cities but in the winter when most northern cities are getting sno... Read more

Tue May 01 2007Stunning, as long as the view isn't obscured by the grey drizzle that seems to fall 200 days a year.

Fri Mar 23 2007Best skyline in the country hands down. Know other skyline has the natural back drop of Seattle with Mt. Rainer. Also the skyline can be viewed from a variety of places in the city.

Thu Feb 15 2007Seeing it in photos makes me terribly homesick. I remember years ago a radio station there did a campaign of where you could 'See-attle' from. My sweetie and I had great fun finding new places to See-attle from! Yes, from either the Bremerton or Vashon Is. ferry - the ferry is one of the best places, also from the beach at Alki Point. I've heard stories about how exciting the 1962 Worlds Fair was and many Seattlites are still proud of the Space Needle.

Sat Nov 25 2006One of the safest and cleanest cities in USA. I lived in Bell Town and just a fantastic group of people. Single, Family Seattle can make everyone happy. I think outside of NYC the best city in USA.

Thu Jan 26 2006Appears to be a nice little grouping. However, it loses one point for that giganitic UFO hoax tribute they call the Space Needle. Ich!

Wed Jan 25 2006paradoxical, ying and yang city. the good is great: the views, recreational opportunities, mild temps, lush and green, great economy job wise. but the bad is bad: really cloudy, drizzly, horrible traffic congestion and insanely expensive housing. so, take that for what it is worth.

Thu Jan 19 2006I've never been remotely close to it, but have seen the pictures, and everyone pretty much knows it's quite majestic and beautiful, and it's usually way up there. Any chance I can get Providence Rhode Island on this list? Just kidding. Providence almost doesn't have one, and the city looks like Gotham City in the Batman flicks anyway.

Thu Jan 19 2006The best thing I did in Seattle was take a $6 ferry to Bremerton at night. It gives you a long look at the Seattle skyline. It's beautiful and impressive, and the dampness seems to enhance it.

Thu Jan 19 2006Beautiful skyline, even not including the space needle. Beautiful hills that dwarf the buildings, much like San Francisco. Not overgrown downtown, although the suburban sprawl detracts from the desireability of King County as a whole.

Wed Jan 18 2006America's prettiest skyline, downtown Seattle is graced with colorful and modern skyscrapers many of them with reflective glass that shimmer during the spectacular sunsets. This skyline really compliments the city and it's beautiful surroundings with Mount Rainier and Pudget Sound as a backdrop. The Space Needle erected during the 1962 Worlds Fair is Seattle's signature landmark. The former Columbia tower now titled Bank of America tower comands the skyline with its sleek black mirrored glass rising 78 stories. For the best photo oppurtunity go to Kerry Park on Queen Anne hill.

Mon Apr 04 2005Lived here all my life but doesn't get a 5 star rating anymore because of cost of living and not a real easy place to meet people unless you drink or are into artsy type activities. Lots of green space and beautifull mountain ranges on the west and east to view. Along with MT. Rainier and MT. Baker a great place to live if you want a short drive to the great outdoors. Traffic only sucks if you're not a native and don't know all the side roads. Like a flock of sheep people jam up the freeways. Also nice weather if you don't like extremes of hot or cold. Just wish our sports teams would do something big for once. Peace from Seattle aka The Emerald City.

Tue Apr 20 2004Seattle is the most beautiful, and cleanest, city I've ever seen. And it's right in the middle of everything you'd ever want, ocean, lakes, enormous mountains with glaciers, great music, art, constant social activies, booming city life, and something for every genre. And the people are very friendly and enviting. I'm in heaven here.
