Tue Aug 09 2011I never heard of this, but a friend found a bunch of old cheap whiskeys in a house he bought and brought them into work. I am not making this up! Most were rot-guts but Canadian Hunter really is a gem -- smooth and dark as a brandy, with lots of caramel and a nice finish. A nice drink neat or over ice.

Thu May 12 2011You guys are morons! This isnt made by Seagrams. And it definitely isnt the same company as Crown Royal. You guys are just a bunch of cheap skates that all say that so you dont look bad buying Canadian Hunter! What a joke!

Fri Apr 01 2011Just tasted your Cinnamon Whiskey...very good ...nice taste and goes down very smooth...would love to buy it in a larger bottle if its made.

Mon Jan 03 2011Great Whiskey. It is the very best of the cheap whiskies. Tastes a lot like Crown, but not as sweet. Made by the same company (what is formerly known as Seagram's). The bomb.

Fri Dec 03 2010I am new to the world of Canadian whisky, as i have been a regular burbon drinker who enjoys an occasional scotch. I had tried Crown Royal in the past and as a person who likes whisky "neat" I really didnt care for the taste, so it was to my suprize that my suspicions of a bottle of canadian whisky with husky sled dogs and a man holding a lever action rifle would be such a gem. I purchased a 200ml bottle for $3.60 and when i turned it up i was both suprized and pleased of its deep complexity, it has a smoky rich flavor, a bit bitter at first, however it quickly fades and is replased by a buttery lingering finnish. This whisky has replaced evan williams for daily duty and has changed my prospective on Canadian whisky, well done segarams!

Sat Nov 20 2010I just recently retired @ 55 years old and have been drinking Crown Royal for at lease 25 years. But for $ 9.99 a half gallon in Maine / N.H. it a steal compared to $36.99. Ok my good people you do the Maine math $$$!! go to N.H. No tax and its only $9.99.

Fri Oct 15 2010I have recently turned 21 on sept 17th and now its october...I've been drinking whisky before I was 21, but i've tryed many things like jack daniels and others as well. But to my main point. Now I really like canadian hunter...it is really cheap where I am from. I live In Michigan and the retail price is 6.99. for the hunter I say it is the best stuff I have ever tasted. Don't get me wrong I like jack daniels, But my most favorite whisky is the Canadian Hunter, that there is enough said. So you people out there, keep on drinking the good shit and that is canadian hunter. PS. If anyone don't like my cursing on this site please let me know...because I don't know whats the guidelines for swearing on here?.

Thu Sep 02 2010Yup, at one time we had ourselves our very own entourage. Life was good, so was Crown...but the Entourage got hit by economic hardship. Longing for a suitable beverage to satisfy our needs, we turned to Canadian Hunter. Lemme tell ya, this stuff Rocks! I'm not gonna give you all sorts of descriptions of taste and all that, but I am gonna say that this is a suitable replacement to Crown Royal- and the price is Right! Mind you, after one especially interesting evening, I referred to Canadian Hunter as "Indian Slayer." The name stuck, but everyone knows that when "Slayer" is mentioned...the party is on! Livin' la vita Slayer!

Sun Aug 29 2010I bought 2 fifths of this drink on a limb between a dirty thirty of busch and a half G of Royal Canadian. I expected a rank taste like 5 star or something comparable but the Hunter trapped my taste buds in a furry. Until i came here i did not know it was made by Seagrams which is a bonus IMO. The price i got it for was very comparable considering i have bought cheap whisky my whole life. This stuff is cheaper than dirt in MI, i bought 2 fifths at a mere 6.93 a piece which seems cheap compared to the rest of the reviews i have read.

Sun Aug 15 2010The taste reminds me of rubbing alcohol, but it does the job and doesn't leave me with a blinding headache like so many other liquors do. I'm a big fan of Seagram's 7 and Seagram's Gin, but I think I'll pass on the hunter next time.

Mon May 24 2010Best cheap whiskey I've found! If I had unlimited funds I would drink Jameson's all the time but CH is almost as good at about 1/3 the price. The strange thing is so few liquor stores carry it (or even heard of it!) considering it's a Seagrams product. P.S. It's great with iced tea!

Sat Apr 24 2010After drinking other brands for years, I have found my fave. Canadian Hunter is smooth....mellow...tasty and dosn't seem to give you to much of a hangover. However the Rebate System that is in place is not very streamlined. As I buy by the case, it is costly and time consuming to send only one label in one envolope with one receipt. (imposible when your receipt shows that you bought a case) . other than that it is a great product Thank-you....Hugh T. Shea....Hamilton, ON Canada

Thu Feb 11 2010The whiskey is great--but how do you get the label off the neck to send it in for the rebate? I have soaked it for 4 hours and am just getting the label off in shreds NB

Sun Jan 24 2010Not only does Canadian Hunter have a smooth great taste, but it has the best label of any whiskey or bourbon. Unfortunately, it isn't sold in alot of stores in our area (13027) anymore.

Mon Jan 11 2010I have been a Jack Daniels drinker for 20 years, I even belong to their club. But now I drink Canadian Hunter. I know that it is not the exact same type of whiskey but I still love it!

Thu Nov 26 2009Canadian Hunter... how do I begin? In a word, this whiskey is divine. Each sip begins with an exquisite, full-bodied smooth flavor that hints at the glory of walnut. As it progresses, the hunter begins to dominate your tastebuds; slightly challenging them, in the way that a perfect sexual partner challenges you, keeping you on your toes and lovingly rewarding you for keeping up with him or her. The finish is exquisite: no manner of adjectives and metaphors will do it justice so I just won't even bother trying to elaborate for fear of severely embarrassing myself in front of all of the internet. It cannot be described, only experienced. The packaging exudes a confidence and ruggedness that would put John Wayne to shame (I am convinced that these qualities could only be matched by an ACTUAL Canadian Hunter. Even then, I'm not sure if they could keep up with the sheer destructive awesomeness that IS this whiskey.) The dogs symbolize the prospective drinker's relationship with th... Read more

Sun Jun 14 2009Here in North Carolina a bottle of Crown is 23 dollars and a bottle of special Reserve Crown Royal is 40 dollars. CH is only $7.95 and I really cant tell that much of a difference. Its very smooth and makes a great mixed drink. I have turned all of my friends on to it and now when we play cards we take shots of it instead of Evan williams.

Mon Mar 30 2009Seagrams 7 was giving me some aches and bad hangovers. So I decided to go on a (best buy for the buck) whisky adventure. There were many suggestions floating my way such as.........r&r, black velvet, canadian mist, etc. Nobody suggested Canadian Hunter. The logo looked great, so I bought some. All thrugout my purchases I kept buying random bottles of CH, and came to the reality that it was the best. Today......I would prefer CANADIAN HUNTER over any whisky anywhere, and I have a feeling that it will be that way forever!! In fact im enjoying some CANADIAN HUNTER right now!!

Wed Jan 07 2009I'VE FOOLED MY FRIENDS FOR YEARS WITH THIS BY POURING OUT OF CROWN BOTTLE. VERY GOOD WHISKEY.

Tue Oct 21 2008I've been enjoying Canadian Hunter for the past 23 years. It is by far the BEST sipping whiskey around. Drink it straight up. You want a mixer, choose anything else. Only $7.75 here in NC. THE premium whiskey in my book.

Sat Oct 18 2008I officially endorse this product in the name of room 300. I'm contemplating getting a Canadian Hunter tattoo and will be attempting to work for the company for the rest of my life so that I may associate myself with the great Hunter. I have a trophy shelf of downed CH that compares to that of the Hall of Fame. Bottom line...I would pay at LEAST $30 for a fifth, but only have to pay$10. Thanks you Hunter, I am in debt to you. By the way...does the hunter look like Burt Reynolds to anyone else?

Sat Mar 22 2008Being a whiskey drinker, I enjoy a good smooth drink. I think Canadian Hunter is one of the best and not a high dollar purchace.

Sun Jan 13 2008The BEST for the $$

Sat Jan 05 2008CH is almost without flavor. Glass of ice, fill near the top with CH, few drops of water, goes right down. I prefer something with a wee bit of bite ot it. I'll stick with my Royal Reserve. But as a Canadian travelling in the US I don't seem to find RR so CH will do just fine.

Fri Dec 14 2007a clerk told me to try this whiskey, said it compared to crown royal who also makes the canadian hunter brand. This has got to be one of the smoothest whiskeys I have ever drank.. If you have not tried, I think you will be pleasantly surprised. No after taste at all.

Wed Nov 29 2006In my state-Washington a bottle of this great Whiskey costs $9.95. It's the best bargin in the store. Sooooooth hearty flavor and great aftertaste. It's so smooth that you could really get yourself in a "Pickel" if you know what I mean.

Tue Nov 28 2006Canadian Hunter is a good stand by drink for when you want to get real fucked up. As a wise man once noted, "you can get past his dogs, but you will never beat the hunter himself." That is quite true as everytime I've enjaged in mortal combat with a bottle of the old CH the hunter has always got the best of me.

Thu Jun 15 2006I didn't know they put garbage in a bottle and called it whiskey until tasting this ? whatever it is ?

Wed Apr 12 2006Best Canadian dollar for dollar for the price. All you need if s few cubes. Can pay a lot more and get a lot less. It is hard to find.
by nevadasagehen
Thu Mar 23 2006Smooth full bodied. Everyone I have introduced to Canadian Hunter loves it and have changed to CH as their first choice. Too bad so few distributors carry it.
