I am not a club goer. I am from Louisiana and came to town to see my best friend. He figured we needed a place to go and relax. Since I had just been through a horrible tragedy and am very leary, he said this would be the perfect spot. He was correct. The crowd was mixed, no youngsters or thuggish-looking guys, no trashy-looking women. The music is amazing. The owner's band was on point! We had an amazing time! I felt safe coming and going, and we closed the place down! I have moved to Houston since then and can't wait to go back! His choice was awesome!!!

this was the 1st time i had ever went 2 skybar and will be the last. i went there with some co-workers(police officers)4 of the people with me were drinking and 1 of them was not drinkin at all due 2 them being the driver . when i got there i paid cash for my 1st drink which was a crown and coke. the next time i ordered some drinks i ordered a crown and coke an 4 shots of patron. (shot 4 each person with me). i ordered that 3 diffrent times during the night. after the 3rd round of shots i totaly was out of it. everything went dark and quiet. i dont remeber a thing after that. after looking up the symptoms i had during the night all signs point that i was slipped something in my drink. after being a police officer a total of 7 years and working as a narcotics detective u can tell the diffrence from being drunk and drugged. well whats crazier was my card was swipped a total of 12 times for charges of $262. the following day after talking to the manager of skybar an telling him what ha... Ok, where can you go to get incredible vocalist, an incredible view of the city and an owner that sings on Saturday nights with the bands-----that can sing........Skybar. You take an elevator up umteenth floors, 10$ cover and your in with decent gear. The drinks seemed to be around 8-9$, but the service was fast. There are couches outside with candles and plenty of room to escape and just view the city. And of course, it's a penthouse view with tons of windows to see the city. The singers were incredible with soul that night. I think it's for the R&B community from all I can tell. Most people were dressed nice, kinda like business wear. I got in with a nice pair of jeans, collared shirt and dress shoes without a second glance. They advertise no t-shirts or sneakers, but jeans are fine. Try parking in the grocery store across, I think it's free. Otherwise you pay to park in the garage and there is a walk down to the first floor for the elevator. We had an awesome time!

My husband and I went on a Saturday night with some friends and we had a blast. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun. The drinks were great I will be back with more friends. This maybe our new hang out spot. But it would be best if you pay for your drinks with cash because there's an 18 percent gratuity that's added to all credit card transactions.

My girlfriend and I have been there three times this year and every visit it has been going downhill. They jack up the price on everything except the parking which will probably go up too. The last time paid too much for as far as the cover charge is concern for a broken elevator that made the wait time down stairs and upstairs unacceptable. Then there is the so call dress code.I had on a pair of slacks and a short sleeve shirt, she was wearing a casual dress but once we came inside the place we thought we were over dressed!!Then there is the leaking ceiling due to condensation from the AC,hey I least put a coffee can up there to catch the water!!The place is a dump!IIve seen better clubs at third world countries for a fraction of the price to get in and enjoy.Save your money there are better places in Houston to go to.

Love this bar! Great atmosphere! Beautiful patio--very romantic if you're on a date! Great Band that knows how to entertain a mixed crowd---black and white folks! At this club you don't have to worry if you are a woman out alone. Safe area, nice bouncers, and the crowd on Friday and Saturdays is a respectable crowd. No thugs!

I really liked it here! I do contract work so I travel for a living and have been many places. Went here on Valcentines Day. Free roses for the ladies(me) and no cover for the ladies. The view is great. The free salsa lessons and band afterwords were great. The key si to get there early. Got there around 830 Thursday night. Found free street parking. Took the elevator. Mojitos on sale for 5 bucks(36oz). Service was good. No complaints. Didn't try the snacks so can't comment but plan to go back Wednesday for the free buffet. Write another review then. Hasta luego

Sky Bar has been around for many years, with the same decor and set-up. I recently went there after a 20-year hiatus, and nothing had changed, except the place smelled mustier. There are a lot of better, more interesting places to go in Houston.

This is THE place for a 360 degree phenomenal view of all sides fo Houston... The crowd is more of the 30+ but being a young biz pro I felt at home... The beginning of teh night it was more of a "cruise" ship lounge with the older group sitting and enjoying the live music by Scott Gertner himself... Then about 11ish the younger crowd came in and took over then the rap and hip hop came on... I have never had such a good time the with watching a 50 year old man and his wife get low... A great mix of all ages, ok drink prices, great views and a romatic candle lit patio....

The Scene Attracting a combination of upwardly mobile professionals and groups of coworkers looking to dress up and let loose, Scott Gertner's hip heaven is on a cloud of its own. Whether it's Gertner's (a longtime local musician and club owner) own cover band onstage or an increasing variety of national performers like Acoustic Alchemy and Tuck & Patti, SkyBar is the home for smooth, contemporary jazz and '70s-'80s-era soul and light funk. The Draw If the Greek gods reside on Mount Olympus, then this is the Zeus of clubs. Boasting an unbeatable vista of downtown Houston and its surrounding area, its room-with-a-view ambiance is unparalleled. The club proper has the lights down low and flickering candles to illuminate the sprawl of tables with comfy seats.

This past weekend my girlfriend and I attended the Sky Bar thinking it was going to be a bar like the sister spot on Fountainview/Richmond. But to our surprise, it was an actual club. The people there were well dressed and sophisicated ( which is expected)! Yea we had to pay for parking and wait outside for the elevator for about 20-30 min, however it was well worth the wait. The bar has a beautiful view, beautiful atmosphere, scenery, and people. This is the #1 attraction of out of towners. I will definately go back and bring more friends.

This past weekend, my wife and I went for the 1st AND last time to Skybar. Yes, the view of the Skyline was beautiful but maybe that was to distract you from the price of the bill at the end of the evening showing the $8.50 weak Cosmos and $5.00 beers! You must park yourself and pay $5.00, then pay $20.00 covercharge. The clientele reminded us of old desperate lounge lizards...we thought that there was a "strictly-enforced" dress code there to attract a classy crowd, but there obviously isn't one! The ambiance has NOTHING on the TRULY classy Midtown or the Galleria area and is WAY-overpriced! We were so disappointed!!! We'll never go back!!

I called this bar to look into booking a private party and spoke to someone named Kelly who was abrupt, unfriendly and condescending. She balked because my group of 20-30 was too small to accommodate privately without great expense. Little does she know my company can host very large events and we are interested in locations in Houston for events. Because of her rudeness, I will never consider this venue again. Hopefully the service doesn't match her poor attitude.

I went to the SkyBar with my husband and another married couple. I was initially afraid of a "club" since I hadn't gone to a club over 5 years, but this place is wonderful. It was everything that we wanted great music, great ambiance, most of all NO DRAMA!!! We are going back every onther Saturday now.

Best spot on Wednesday night trust me!! Great atmosphere, beautiful women, and bangin music. The dance floor is way to small (I guess thats why everywhere I turned people were finding almost anywhere to dance) but outside of this, its a nice club to mingle in. Guys if you cant dance dont worry, it is really dark and women will approach you to dance. The best spot by far is in front of the stage because you can find a different cutie every 5 minutes and cut a rug all night.

I thought this club would be diversified, and it is not. The women are very stuck up, and the dance floor is very small. If you are looking for other singles this club is not for you. This club tells you to dress to impress, but there were many people who dressed in clothes like tee-shirts, tennis shoes etc. Waste of time.

I am a BIG fan of Scott Gertner's Sky Bar....Friends and I have made many turn around trips from Killeen, TX (3 hour drive) just to party at the SKY BAR....that is how much we enjoy the music and fun. The live entertainement is a must see event and if you ever need to book a band....Scott Gertner & Band should be your #1 CHOICE!!!! The Sky Bar is like no other Party Place and believe me, I have been around the world.

I've had the pleasure of being a frequent customer of the Sky bar for many years. This club is amazing!!!!!. Each year it keeps getting better and better. In houston no club has ever had longevity like this one. It is as timeless as the Luther toons that Scott has perfected w/ his amazing voice.

I clicked my heels , hoping to find a home to dance in Houston moving from Kansas 2 years ago. After several places closed I thought dance was dying in Houston. A friend and I went to Gatsby's this spring who suggested we try the Skybar. We felt at home there. Early we got a table and the rest is history. This is the place to be and be seen for many best dancers are here. The dancers love music and phrase and don't have to have a partner. The patrons feel the beat : it is live and exciting. It is the music lover's scene and potential lover's scene. You can be secure in the midst of hundreds on Wednesday night, Ladies night or single and solo safely anytime. Age is not a factor.. Party and escape a hard work and enjoy great music. I do.

I have been a Thursday night, Ladies' night regular here for years! It is a romantic first-date spot and also a great Ladies night spot on Thursdays...no cover, great Latin music and salsa dancing...but, it can get to be a bit too crowded and dangerous on the dance floor on Thursdays...arms, legs, heels, flying very fast...and watch your feet...those ladies' three inch heels can be brutal! The outdoor patios have a very nice ambience and view....a great place to dance, talk, smooch, and mingle! Thursdays can be a bit too crowded though...and drinks are expensive as well..but, overall great place! On Thursdays, though...prepare yourself, ladies, for too many machismo, rosary-clad, shirts unbuttoned to the navel, and more men that are there to 'hook up' then who actually know how to dance salsa/merengue. Ladies, if you like short men, reeking of cheap cologne, though shalt be in Latino heaven...lol!

No matter if New Years Eve, Company Christmas Party or Birthday Bash - been there, done that and can't stay away from this place! The $10 cover charge is worth every penny, the drinks are fabulous (even though not the cheapest), and the crowd is outstanding. The view is great and along with the live music and Scott's contagious excited attitude this is a Bar you have to visit whenever you are anywhere close. You won't stay a stranger for long! Gotta love this place...

I'd heard great things about the place and still didn't expect much but when I walked through the door, I was overwhelmed. This place screams class. From the elevator attendant, to the doorman, to the atmosphere, need I say more. The view of Houston is magnificent and the balcony is wonderfully relaxing. Nothing but class, I would reccomend this joint to anyone looking for a swank night on the town. Thumbs up, guys!

Found the atmosphere in line of what was expected and not misled by what they boast about. The music (Scott Gertner) was above average however it didnt fit the image. It was more a line up of pop music, mixed with 80s. We were expecting more of the lounge type & classics. Drink were prices reasonable, however the service a bit slow with a crowd. Better off, getting your own and plan on standing in line. There were more people standing than sitting. Well go again, but with different music venue.

This has to be one of Houston's best night clubes. The atmosphere is great, the people are friendly and ready to have fun and the band is fantasic! I recommend going in the summer or spring so you can enjoy the patio and the night city view from this sky oasis. Great place for a first date and for the 101st!

Never go here for New Years. The food served came from the recognizeable TGI Friday frozen food menu. But that point it didn't matter to us since we came into the "bar and grille" thinking there would be food.... but didn't eat until over two hours later (by that point we were starving). We were originally told by the doorman not to go elsewhere to eat, that they had good appetizers there. But unfortunately it took us over an hour to track down some service and when we did they told us they closed the kitchen down. Fortunately the General Manger was there and heard my complaints. Make sure you get back in the line at the bar as soon as you get a drink since it took over a half hour each time we went to get a drink. Definately the last time I go there.

I truly enjoyed my evening with Scott Gertner and Band at the Scott Gertner SkyBar. It was Mom's birthday, and I wanted to take her somewhere nice and elegant yet fun where we could have great music, opportunity to dance, drinks, and a great crowd to party with. The Sky Bar was the place! The Band was AWESOME! We had such a good time, we are already planning our next visit.

Every time we have been to the SkyBar, we have had such a wonderful time...from the time we walked in, to the bartender and great drinks, to the music and I can honestly say that I didn't see anyone who wasn't having a good time! The only thing was that we did have to wait for our table that was way in the back and it was supposed to be in the front. They did allow us to bring our own cake and balloons. I must say that we are coming back again this year!

My nephew was in town for a few days while on leave from his flight training for the Marines. My husband and I wanted to show him some of the better sites in Houston so we took him out to a great steak dinner and then went to Scott Gertner's for a couple of drinks and dancing. He was blown away by all the beautiful women he met and how friendly everybody was. And the view! I can't say enough about how lovely it is. It definitely made an impression on him (and us). We'll be back.

I recently went to the Skybar and have to say I was BLOWN AWAY!!!!!!. I remember walking off the elevator and hearing this beautiful voice singing and I asked a waitress who was singing and she said "That's Scott Gertner!" I was totally amased with the sound of his voice. The band was also very well. It just so happens when I visited, there was a Birthday Celebration for Scott Gertner. I had the best time of my life, the atmosphere was wonderful and to think I wasn't even going to go with my girl friends because I was informed of it being a couple's hangout. Not only is it a couple's hangout, but also for singles. I LOVED IT and I will be going this weekend with some newcomers. KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB!!!!

Scott is one of the best performers in houston. and i'd like to say he is loved by his home town.. he was not born in houston texas.. but, you could sure tell he was rised in Houston, the hospitality speaks for its self. he is a Houston home boy... The food, the band, the bar, and the host, is the best Houston has to offer... What a Night.........

The versatility of Scott Gertner's Skybar is it's most valuable asset. The configuration creates opportunity for multiple entertainment agendas. The cozy 'blueroom' is a romantic place for lovers, while the 'redroom' is a nice gathering place for friends. The dancefloor - located near a circular configuration of tables - is always ignited by the soulful feet of patrons as they dance to the sounds of JazzyRed or Scott and his band or yet another high energy entertainment group.

Scott Gertner's Skybar is the place to be for Happy Hour and evening entertainment. The live bands that play are exceptional and when Scott Gertner is the featured star, it is just totally awesome..and the view of the city is just breath-taking - you can enjoy your favorite drink while viewing the city on a clear night and listen to some excellent tunes all at the same time....and if it is a rainy night, well Houston still never looked so good in the rain at the Skybar....
