Ok Forjack842 you make a valid point, with the exception that GH and GHI are the only 2 programs worth watching on the now "SyFy Channel". Until now they have stuck to the true nature of the channel and have only broadcast science fiction. So can anyone answer these 2 simple questions: 1. Why did they change their name to SyFy? 2. When the hell did SmackDown become "science fiction"??? I admit that SmackDown may be fiction, but science fiction, surely not! That's where I agree with you Forjack842. The programming has suffered and I believe this is a turn for the worst. Who cares if they showed B-rated horror science flicks. That's what makes a great "syfy channel", but to completely take out the science fiction and air wrestling, come on... That is where i'm afraid this channel is headed, another Fox, selling out and cancelling great shows. What's next? Really?

BEsides their collection of junk programming I only watch for the Ghost Hunters and GHI. The rest is below B quality. If there is one thing I have found beyond pissing me off is the stinkong pop-ups on the bottom of the screen. If its not their constantly they pop up some graphic that pulls your attentiuon from the program od worse hides a portion of the screen. These dick heads run a bunch of commercials none of which have any pop-ups of course yet insist on throwing that crap all over the bottom of the screen during programming. Like use your commercial time for this crap not my watching time!

If negative stars were listed, this would get a big NEGATIVE. I will repeat a previous comment:SciFi channel is a NBC w*ore. Reading the other comments leads me to believe that most have their heads in the caboose. Does anyone have even a clue on what REAL Science Fiction is about? Does anyone even read a book? Just look at the crap of the new release of The Day the Earth Stood Still. Compare that to the original release in the 50s just supports what the movie Idiocracy protrays-stupid people. Has anyone read State of Fear? Yes, SciFi is mostly crap with 2% good programs.

Where did they find the directors and producers of all these Sci-Fi original movies... On the Street? They are worse then the most inferior student films I have ever seen!!! I along with the other viewers would much rather watch old 50s & 60s Sci-Fi movies and TV shows than for the Sci-Fi channel waste there money on crappy original movies TV shows and fake wrestling. Are You Listening SCI-FI Channel Your Money Is Better Spent On Programming That Is Made By Professionals!!!!

Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International are two good shows on SCI-FI. Star Trek reruns, monster flicks, and other great stuff.

What happened to it? Couple of years ago, probably a third of my TV viewing was sci-fi channel. Now all they show is poorly made horror, weirdos chasing ghosts, and whats with the wrestling? The horror and ghost chasing wouldn't turn so many people off if it just wasn't so BAAD! SSG1 is OK, but it has a plot/background story that could have been the next classic if they had just put more effort into production. It takes a lot of incompetence to hold a great idea like SSG1 down to just average. What's with the actors from failed 1980s TV shows? Oh well, today I modified my program guide so that sci-fi doesn't even appear in the list of channels. Now I won't have to see the lame titles and be annoyed that such a once cool channel has fallen so far. Lets hope another network moves to fill the vacuum sci-fi is leaving as it self-destructs.........

Im not a big Sci Fi person but they do play some really good movies on this network and they do it without the stupid makeovers and cooking tips to take away from the film.

When I first started to receive SciFi, I was thrilled. All my old favorites were being aired: Lost in Space, Creature Features and lots of others. IMO, the shows airing are of much less quality. I would really enjoy this channel more if they would go back to airing some of the classics again.

Even though many of their "original" movies were silly (the list is too long) they were good for some laughs. But their wrestling boggles the mind. And I hate the reality crap (even Ghost Hunters). i guess they'll show re-runs of The Ghost Whisperer" before long. With Jennifer Love Hewitt I might watch though! This network needs Outer Limits, X-Files, etc. for series and I would prefer some classic horror/sci-fi movies (from the 50's & 60's). Remember Tarantula from the 50's?!These were classics! I mean "Decoys" is okay (T&A; alert) but enough is enough...

Love Ghost Hunters. Would love Sci-fi even more if they brought back MST3K. Some of the other reality shows are decent. Don't care for much else that they show. Watched about 30 minutes of Ice Spiders with my wife. We made SOOO much fun of it. Their version of Dune is one of the best movies ever, IMO.

The SciFi Channel is a shadow of it's former self. I really have to wonder about this station. They seemed to be confused about the term science fiction. Wrestling, paranormal and all the other kooky shows that have been given air time. They are simply not keeping up with the talent that has gone before or the talent that is displaying itself all over the web. (If you know where to look.) I especially thought it showed incredible stupidty to axe Stargate SG1. A TV series that has been honored by Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films and was nominated for several Emmys. I find hope that we as fans of science fiction have power over these corparate baboons. Case in point the resurrection of Star Trek and recently CBS responding to fan pressure and returning "Jericho" to friday in the 8PM time slot. The SciFi channel should get some competion from them.

Mansquito and Ice Spiders?  What gives?  I have heard some bad things about this network, like canncelling decent shows, and airing low budgeted movies. It's no wonder sci-fi fans think that this network stinks.

Sci-fi channel used to be good when they had shows like the six million dollar man, sightings, twilight zone, original star trek, etc. But now all they show are these really dumb sci-fi channel original movies like mansquito. I used to atch sci-fi channel all the time now I hardly ever watch it unless they have a twilight zone or buck rogers marathon.

Why did they take original Star Trek off of their schedule completely? Why did they get rid of Seaquest and Earth 2? Why do they not show the Godzilla movies that they used to? There are lots of questions to be answered about this station. Here is one more: Why is a science-FICTION channel airing the ECW wrestling? And, with my interest in both Stargate shows now rising, why is ECW getting a whole ratings point higher than anything science fiction on the network. And, even more, why does Sci-Fi *persist* in showing horror, which is not science fiction. Small praise, however, does go to the network for picking up the repeat rights to Star Trek: Enterprise.

It's good some good shows like 4400 and Stargate-Atlantis but its got a whole lot of ones I personally don't care for. C sci-fi movies have never interested me. "B" ones usually aren't much better. The thing that I really don't appreciate are horror or superstition-based films.

Such a wonderful idea (the kind of thing cable television was made for), but squandered with made-for-channel swill, done on the cheap with storylines you just can't get involved with. The morning-afternoon show block is inspired, but the installed clunkers assure sporadic viewings, at best. Working a deal to get ALL of the Star Trek series (and keep them somewhere in rotation) should be top priority, and bringing back MST3K (even in reruns) would go a long way towards variety. For me, the Sci-Fi Channel has become a "flip and trip" afterthought, where I'm going around the dial and accidentally find something good (like the FLASH GORDON movie or 12 MONKEYS) and stay there. A lot of the problem has been the lack of good shows to choose from (only 1 in 3 things from this genre has ever been worth noticing), but I expected better from what still could be a decent concept.

I could be wrong but it seems like they depend on a lot of made for TV stuff which is not very good. They used to show Space 1999 and UFO but all of that is gone now. Best thing on it is Star Gate SG-1

A great idea, but the programming stinks. It should be top flight scifi movies, original shows, and classics (like Twighlight Zone and STrek), instead, there's nothing on this network worth watching.

This channel has jumped the shark when they started airing reality shows such as Scare Tactics, Ghost Hunters, and Master Blasters. Those shows have got to be removed once and for all. The people who watched Scare Tactics and Ghost Hunters are plain stupid. Bonnie Hammer has ruined this station big time and should be fired for this.

This channel has gone the way of AMC. Too many commercials, their logo is too large and alway on the screen, and they gave up on the classic shows like The Outer Limits and Dark Shadows. NBC ruined this channel when they bought it out like they ruined Bravo.

I thought the old Friday lineup with Sliders, Farscape, First Wave, then Lexx was one of the best nights on TV. yet this channel is so impatient, much like the WB, that they can't keep a good show on for more than 3 or 4 seasons. They went downhill.

    Tue Nov 25 2003

I like this channel better when it aired more classic sci-fi tv shows such as The Twilight Zone, the old Outer Limits, Star Trek(I hate all Star Trek shows, but it belongs on the Sci-fi channel) The Bionic Woman, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Invaders, Dark Shadows, Forever Knight, and many other sci-fi shows. Their original shows such as Scare Tactics(more reality crap) just are not as good. At least they air The X-Files which is one of the best shows ever to air on television. I think the executives at the Sci-Fi channel should create another channel and maybe call it Sci-Fi Classic and air all the classic shows(i.e Twilight Zone, Star Trek, The Invaders, perhaps The Prisoner, Dark Shadows etc) and keep the semi-current and new stuff on The Sci-Fi channel. Just a thought.

Hey, Sci Fi - ever wonder why you're at the bottom of the ratings barrel? No, this isn't yet another They Cancelled Farscape complaint, there's enough of those. No, Sci Fi, it's the way you treat your viewers. Or, should I say, former viewers. For example, that giant ugly hammer-and-sickle thing in the corner. That didn't used to be there. The fact that the very microsecond the closing credits of Star Trek began, you squashed it over into a corner so that you could start spamming me immediately. And let's not forget the pop-up that tells me I'm watching Star Trek. GOSH! Thanks for letting me know! Seeing Bones and Kirk and Uhura up there gave me no clue. I thought maybe it was a remake of Gilligan's Island. Look, if I want pop-ups, I'll go to angelfire.com. So just keep doing what you do best, Sci Fi. Which is keep viewers away in droves.
