When I first went to Schlotzky's Sandwich Shops in Texas years ago, I was very impressed by the quality of the food and their way of doing business. By the time they reached the Boston area, they had lost their way. First of all, calling yourself a deli doesn't make you one. Another major problem was their poor choice of location ( next to Kellys Roast Beef or close to real delis). The food is still pretty good but there was no reason to go there. Price became the deal breaker. The value just isn't there.

Schlotzky's at Wm Cannon near S. 1st St. in Austin, Tx. has sold their last Wish Sandwich to me!

These are to delis what the Titanic was to marine engineering.

I didn't much care for it, and obviously others didn't either or it wouldn't be going out of business in some areas.

Kind of unique whenit first came out (round sub) but the quality is no better than Quiznos or Subway.

I generally like them, but GEEZ they have gotten expensive! I have to drop at least a ten spot in there just to get full. I can usually polish off a large original for lunch by myself if I have skipped breakfast and then intend on having a real light dinner much later.

This is a deli? Please help those poor souls who think this is a good deli.

Extremely expensive for the small portions of meat and veges; mostly bread. The flavor is unique, the value is terrible. You could make these yourself quite easily; nothing special to warrant the astronomical price.

I like they're sourdough bread, but its a bit greasy. And you don't get much for your money. They are a little overrated.

I never heard of this subpar place until I moved to the Midwest. Frankly, regarding my favorite type of food the Midwest needs a major upsurge in ITALIAN IMMIGRATION RIGHT THE F*** NOW!

Pleasing enough to the taste buds. They have good pizza and Chinese chicken salad (the onions are right on top, and very convenient for me to pick off). I have yet to try more of the food, but what I had was pretty good.

It's good, but the people who work there are annoying.

Very, very chincy on meat, I mean seriously you dont even now that meat exists on the sandwich. 5 dollars for a terrible sandwich with no meat. The veggie sandwich, I could give 3 stars maybe to that.

I have a daughter who currently works at Schlotzky's. Even she complains about how expensive they are. I would call them a major rip-off! Have to say the food is good but not that good. Also the portions are a down right crime for the money you pay!! Only recommend to people who have alot of money to blow and are not very hungry!!

Outstanding sandwiches! However, they are VERY expensive, hence the four-star rating.

Combine horrible food with worse service and you get a one-star from this customer. As bad as the sandwiches are, their pizza is even more appalling.

Much rather make a sandwich at home. I can buy a pound of lunchmeat and a loaf of bread for the price of one medicore sandwich at Schlotzky's. Terribly overpriced.

this restaurtant is a different change of pace for fast food. the sandwiches are good. And they have many to choose from. You also get to pick what kind of bread you want it on. Of course, these sandwiches are a little more expensive than the burger restaurants but worth it everything is made to order so it takes i little longer, I like their turkey club, and the rueben.

Good but some of the most unhealthy food on the market today.

I tried the green salad today and my, was it bad. Nothing but white pieces of iceberg lettuce. I had asked at the speaker area (I drove through the drive through) if there were tomatoes in it and this is really sad---two, very thin half slices with part of the core in it and the pieces weren't even red. I drove home without looking at my order which I'm afraid, can't ever be done again. The green salad should be tossed straight into the garbage.

Love to see people comapre this to their local Deli. IT'S IN THE FAST FOOD CHAIN CATEGORY, DA. They do a great job!

This chain bombed in NYC, the mecca of delis, so you have to wonder. I guess if you're out in the cultural and culinary backwater of the country and you're Jonesing for deli, these places will do the trick. I didn't find anything special about Schlotzky's, but maybe I'm spoiled living where I do. Give it a try. It's got to be better than the majority of dumps out there.

Schlotzky's is the best sandwich shoppe around, ten times better than Subway's and better than even Wendy's. The meats and the bread are fresh and taste great. The sourdough on pastrami is the best and the chicken sandwiches are out of this world. Have the sandwiches with some of their potato chips, it is the best. The place even has some pretty good pizzas. The ambiance of the restaurant is pretty good, it's a step above most other fast food places. There's only one Schlotzky's in Miami where I live, so I really don't get to go a lot. I see them all over the place when I go on the road; it would be nice if this franchise expanded some more.

Now this is high quality fast food. Better than Subway. Better than other sandwich shops. Better than the abysmal places (Taco John, McDonalds, Long John Silvers, Jack in Box) that try to kill you with food poison. Schlotsky's has it all and they have great bread.
