Schlitz (modern formula) is one of the best mass-produced, American-style lagers on the market. I like its thick, creamy, white head and clear yellow color. Carbonation is high, and this beer has a good bite to it. Mouth feel is light and watery. Also, Schlitz has one of the best-looking cans out there. It is usually competitively priced. I've been drinking and enjoying it since 1996. Some of the reviews on RateItAll have confused Schlitz with Schlitz Malt Liquor. They're not the same product, although I also like the Schlitz Malt Liquor varieties (four out there). RJT

I just can't give it 3. But it is the best 2-star trash beer I can presently think of. Drinkable swill in a pinch. Great for disaffected college students trying to distance themselves from emotionally remote parents. . . Also gets two stars for being Grandpa's beer. . . There has been a fun push amongst my tribe to slum it with some cheap beer to prove how varied their tastes are. . .but sorry - Schlitz is still swill. . .

Schlitz is an old-school and low-budget beer. As such, it has a watered down taste that is rather foul. I do not understand why anyone would willingly consume this when there are way better products out there. For instance, Lionshead is a way better tasting budget beer!

Schlitz has to be almost frozen before it's drinkable. Overall, it is low quality and just 'the kiss of the hops' leaves it without any character or bite. It is better than Old Milwaukee though. Oddly, the Schlitz malt liquors are my favorite.

Three stars for old times sake. Here's to "the beer that made Milwaulkie famous". Probably no more than two stars now.

Whenever I see someone with one, I think "there's someone who thinks more about money than they do about themself!"

I liked the old commercials of the bull chasing people all over the place whenever somebody opened a can, but the stuff could gag a maggot!

This is a case where bad advertising killed off a best selling beer. Schlitz used to be a bid seller in the 50's and 60's. Then it tried to be cute and had it's gusto campaign. I think Robert Conrad was in on this ad campaign. He acted threatening stating Try to take my gusto away, or something like that. Well the public didn't take the gusto--it left it! Otherwise it used to be a middle of the road beer when it was made in Milwaukee.

My father used to drink this. It's OK with me because I remember that beer smell.

It tastes pretty bad, but it's real cheap and it will get you shlitzed. I buy it often. They let me pay in quarters and nickels.

Schlitz gets a 5 for its thriftiness. 12 pack for 5 dollars...I don't care if its crap, but thats a deal if you are looking to get drunk.

Not a bad beer - terribly underated by many. It's best to enjoy in the comfort of your own home - damn near impossible to get one in a restaurant. I tried a couple of times just for the hell of it.

Old man's beer. Because they're still selling stock from when old men were young... At least that's what it tastes like. Every Schlitz I've ever had tasted stale.
