Sarah Palin is guilty of abuse of power and violating the Ethics Code.  This should completely disqualify her from any attempts at being in the White House.  Wasn't Cheney's abuse of power enough?

I can't stand this bitch...She's always about hockey and soccer moms and she doesn't realize that everyone is not a hockey or soccer mom..She is also another trigger happy person...We have had so man school shootings in the USA and we don't need someone like her carrying a damn gun around...Also she is way to arrogant and sarcastic when she gives a speech and half of the time can't answer questions

Seriously, as an outsider looking in to the upcoming elections in the US, I am flabergasted that Sarah Palin is the running for VP. She will NOT represent the US in a good light. We view her as a stoic hypocrite, who thinks that the answer to the world problems is to "NOT BLINK" when looking down the barrel of a gun. DON'T DO IT. FOR THE LOVE OF ANYTHING GOOD, DON'T DO IT!!!!

She is not so great but very attractive for her age. How old is she? 22? I read she was a runner up in on of those Alaskan beauty pageant. What are the chances she'll end up in a pictorial? And, no she does not get my vote.

She is not part of the Washington elite (Congress or Press) which is what we need .

Much better than her Katie Couric interview, but it did little to sway me towards their ticket.

I didn't know whether to cringe in embarassment, vomit in ominous foreboding or laugh my butt off everytime this birdbath responded.  Not only did she outrightly refuse to answer several questions and only discussed the issues she felt comfortable with and qualified to address (which were few), but her responses were so generic, inane and vague that she could have been talking about anything.  Nothing but platitudes and worn-out ideology that was ill-considered to begin with.  She was continually wrong on matters of fact.  All of this does not constitute good debating.  She spent nearly 25% of her allotted time talking about her experiences in energy management in The Moocher State, as if this was anything of importance.  But, seeing that might be her sole qualification, she had to beat that horse until it dropped dead.  In addition, she did nothing to promote the standard bearer of the ticket, which, admittedly, is pretty difficult when you consider what a zero John McCain is.  Finall... People are saying that they don't like Palin because of the way she talks. Well, at least, she is herself. Not trying to be,  just another politician. She not only held her own, she did a better job than the polititian. I think she so surprised him that he was a bit intimidated. She corrected him, at least twice. She did several "gotcha's".    Afterward, all that the democrats could be negative about was complaining about the other campaign. Not on what she did wrong.Can anyone tell me on what their answers were on the job of V.P,?

PROS: . . . . well, she didn't bomb. Based on prior performances, I think most people, including myself, expected a poor presentation, but she wasn't as bad as expected.CONS: . . . but she wasn't that good, either. Not that Biden was stellar, but she didn't earn any points in either style nor substance. Even my strong McCain/Palin supporter friends and co-workers felt a little embarrassed for her (I don't necessarily agree that it was bad enough to be embarrassed about, though.)I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that the down-home vibe didn't work out. It seems like both sides could stand to cut back on the Kool-Aid. She wasn't that good and she wasn't that bad. To say either scored something resembling victory is pushing it.

I liked Gov. Palin's straight talk to the U.S. Public. Her previous interviews with Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson were cut up in the editing room to make her look and sound ignorant. That is no credit to the main stream media.

Even though Palin said she was against gay marriage...which made me really mad...I still think she did wonderfully. I'm never voting for McCain. Actually, he is my last choice out of all four candidates. I am voting for Nader!

I'll give her a three, just because she held up pretty well under some strong pressure. I couldn't help but getting the feeling that all the winking and slangy talk was all an effort to get the average Joe's vote.

I have to admit I only watched half of the debate because I was tired and I did not think the debate was particularly interesting. But from what I saw, I thought Sarah Palin did very well. She came off as likable and well-prepared. I'm sure she was prepped and coached, but she seemed to have benefited from it. UPDATE: I'm downgrading Palin to two stars, after I saw some clips of her down-home folksiness; to wit: "doggone" "darn right", "say it ain't so," and last but not least, the winking. This cutesiness might be appropriate in a beauty pageant contestatant or a cheerleader, but it is inappropriate behavior in a vice-presidential candidate. No wonder Biden smiled broadly at her comments he was probably thinking what an idiot she was. I was also offended that when Biden had an emotional moment talking about his deceased wife and daughter, Palin didn't say something like "I'm sorry for your loss";she went off on some tangent. This woman has no class.

She did great! Hope she is the next VP.

I concur with SilverFox on this one. Many were waiting with salivating relish for her to embarrass herself even more dramatically than she has already, but, realistically, how disastrous could it have been for her? Maybe if she had stood up there trembling before Gwen Ifill (the mock right-wing outrage at her being moderator was surely a calculated attempt to neuter her and make sure she bent over backward to be "fair" to Palin) and muttering, "I...I'm frightened...I can't remember what they told me...the witches are in me again...Reverend?...Help me?" Obviously, she's been extensively coached about everything except the truth. If pistol-packin' mama gets into the White House, she's only ONE HEARTBEAT away from the most powerful job in the world. Old John McCain doesn't look like he's the healthiest kid on the block, either. In her eagerness to defend unborn life, why does she turn a blind eye to the million+ innocent Iraqis who were killed, lost limbs, etc., some of whom were innocent children? One poor kid got his arms burnt off in "god's war" (WHICH god?)Come on, Sarah, Sadam Hussein was one of the bad guys but his country did NOT invade the US. All the WMD they could find was aluminum piping, but you neglected to bring that insignificant point up.

I think Sarah did an outstanding job tonight. She has shown that although she has only been on the ticket for 5 weeks she is a quick study. It is interesting how many false statements Joe Biden made. If you do the research online you can find how misleading many of his statements were when you line them up with the facts. But you have to hand it to him he was VERY convincing, even tho he was playing footloose and fancy free with the facts. I much prefer the straight talk of Sarah!!

I like her she is homespun and natural. Probably more intune with working within a budget than any of the other canidates.

Biden stood up for his country and gave America a little bit of HOPE. Palin stood up and gave some school kids extra credit? Need I say more??

I love Sara! She is a real person and absolutely understands what the American people are concerned about. She is not a Washington insider and so much the better!

Sarah Palin did a fabulous job! I love that she is an Washington outsider. So many things she said resonated with me. I love her confidence and her feistiness. She may be inexperienced on the national stage but she is a very intelligent woman.... I would personally rather have the less experienced person #2 on the ticket than #1. She won my vote!

I was amused by her attempt to channel the ghosts of Jimmy Stewart and Ronald Reagan into a single performance. Obviously she did much better than expected: she's smart, witty, down-to-earth. Ready? Not even close. No real command of facts other than what she learned in Wasilla and coached into by the Rove team. Aggressive when she shouldn't be, does she have any idea what she's saying?: "...(Obama and Biden) waving the white flag of surrender". Followed immediately by: "McCain and I will lead a bi-partisan effort". Out of her league, over her head, an attractive puppet for the right's policy of defeatism. And really, can we get any whiter?

Ugh.  It was physically painful watching her self-destruct last night.  I really wanted to see her do well, as I am a long-time Republican, and have never voted Democrat.  But I have had my reservations about Ms. Palin ever since McCain announced her as his running mate.From the minute the debate began, you could tell she was nervous as a cat, and terrified to be in that arena.  She was rehearsed, stiff, and fumbled and bumbled over many of her pre-written, pre-planned answers given to her by the campaign.  She got on my nerves terribly with the winking and idiotic cliches like "Joe Six Pack" and "Hockey Moms".  Give me a break.  The vice-president, possible president of our nations needs to have more than attractive looks and "perky" come-backs to govern our great country.Interestingly, I had ZERO expectations of Joe Biden, like I said, having been a long-time Republican and really wanting to see Ms. Palin do well.  But I found myself drawn to his confident, intelligent manner and the... What a nightmare. She sets the women's movement back at least 50 years. She also needs to learn to pronounce the word *nuclear*.

First of all, I would like to point put a few things here that many of you have forgotten. 1. The "bad" interviews Sarah Palin had the last couple of weeks- some of you don't realize that these things are RIDICULOUSLY edited to the very liberal media's liking. Palin said it herself! That is one major reason why this format worked so well for her- because there was no media filter editing the crap out of it. 2. Some of you also mentioned that the stakes were high for Palin, but not Biden. ARE YOU KIDDING?! That's what the media wants you to believe so that you pay less attention to Biden's slip-ups and pay more attention to Palin's. Following her disastrous interview with Katie Couric, in which she sometimes couldn't utter a coherent sentence ("Putin's head floating. . . ."), expectations were pretty low. But this so-called "debate" format (it wasn't at all a debate) favored what she does well--recite memorized soundbites while smiling--so she came off much better than expected.  She successfully stuck to the script the campaign strategists wrote for her (and therefore avoided answering many questions), such as repeatedly trying to persuade viewers that she and McCain are "mavericks" (pure hogwash, of course) and that she's not a Washington insider but rather a hockey mom/Joe Six Pack type (we already knew you aren't a Washington insider, Sarah).   She memorized her lines well, but it was painfully apparent that her knowledge is very superficial.  As others have noted, she didn't make any big gaffes, so her success was really in avoiding becoming an embarrassment to the ticket. Palin did about 100x better than I expected her to do. That said, I give her 2 stars. I know many, many people with a better command than Palin on the issues surrounding this election (we all do), but she didn't rub her ignorance in our faces during the debate the way she has in some early interviews (see, e.g., Alaskan airspace discussion with Katie Couric). But it was very clear to me that Palin was only authorized by her coaches to speak about certain things, and in certain ways ("I may not answer these questions the way you [Biden] or the interviewer want me to..."). And her bald attempts at capitalizing on her lack of political experience ("It just cracks me up the way you Washington insiders talk...") were pretty offensive. Closer to a 2.5 by me. Palin accomplished what she set out to do: she didn't far flat on her face like she did in those interviews earlier this month. She gave plenty of glib answers; chock full of one-liners and cliches about energy, taxes, and being a maverick. That said, this format clearly benefited her. When she didn't know how to answer a question, like the one about banking policy and regulatory reform, she chose to talk about energy policy instead. Obviously that's an issue which is on the minds of a lot of people in this country right now, and she just glossed over those important questions. She didn't answer a question about health care either, focusing on taxes instead. She needs to answer the questions, it was obvious that she was picking and choosing what she wanted to answer. She looks lost. Whatever the problem is, its very real. McCain's high risk, high reward pick is looking pretty sour right now. We'll see if this moves the polls, but I'd be surprised if it doesn't. The spin here is causing this cynical old political spin doctor considerable amusement. Its amazing how low some people are willing to set the bar, as though being as informed as an average person is adequate. Nothing like having rose colored blinders on. I give kudos to my conservative friend Wiseguy for not having lost perspective on this issue.

Nothing spectacular, but she held her own and didn't make alot of huge blunders. Thought she said heck a little too much.Why she didn't name names (Raines and Johnson) is beyond me.
