I was so happy that they opened this theater because before it used to be Century Plaza and it needed to be renovated. So I have been here a couple of times but now I will not attend this theater again. The last few times I went it was horrible. We went during the Summer and of course there was a long line. Well the lady at the theater door let some couple and kid cut in line so I told the managment but of course nothing was done. Then the last time I went they made us open our purses and searched thru it. I was very horrified . I mean what I have in my purse is pvt. I felt like it was an invasion of privacy. I was so mad. I will never go this theater again. Plus I dont trust their parking lots either. I am willing to drive to the Quarry or maybe even the new cinemark where McCreless is than go to the Mayan.

Great theater, the movie rooms are always clean. Usually a big crowd on the weekends. Best time to catch new movies is in the mornings. As far as parking is concerned big crowds = ample parking room. This location does security in the main lot, not so sure in the overflow parkng lot across the street. Overall good experience.

I wold like to say that I have been going to the movies for 5 years, since I moved to "the BAD south-side". I have never had a problem with my truck being broken into. Maybe, the drive to the 'North" side is good for some, for me it's just a waste of time when you have a really great theater right near you! If you are so concerned with your car being broken into maybe youshould invest in an alarm! -or stay in your house! THE THEATER IS GREAT And so is the food. My children enjoy the theater as well.

i have been there only twice. but that was years ago. the service is good. and so is the food. but they do break into cars alot. eversince i heard about that, i never went back. and i do live nearby. i'd rather drive to the northside than go there. thats how bad it is.

I HAVE GONE TO YOUR THEATRE MANY TIMES ONLY DURING THE DAY YOUR EMPLOYEES HAVE ALL BEEN VERY NICE, SNACKS WERE GREAT ALTHOUGH RATHER EXPENSIVE. I'M NOT SURPRISED TO HEAR FROM THE OTHER REVIEWS THAT THEIR CARS HAVE BEEN BROKEN INTO. I REFUSE TO GO ON SE OR SW MILITARY AFTER DARK THERE'S WAY TO MUCH CRIME. I CALL IT MURDER ALLEY I WOULDN'T RECOMEND ANYONE TO GO ON THAT ROAD AFTER DARK THE WHOLE STREET SHOULD CLOSE AT 9PM THEN THE THUGS WOULD HALF TO GO SOME WHERE ELSE MAYBE THEY WOULD STAY HOME!!!!!

I went a couple of months ago and my car was broken into as well There was nothing to take and they still broke in. I got stuck with a broken window a broken lock and a scratched door. And of course the security guard saw the guy but could not catch him or stop him!!!!! I hate to say this because Im from the south side but the area is bad! I will not come here again! maybe they need to get security that is actually going to patrol the parking lot.

I would like to start off by saying this theatre was where my husband and i had our first date and we continue to visit the theatre. Most of the staff is young but friendly. I know the past few times we went the door man actually made a nice conversation with us. he even mad sure we did once again enjoy our movie. I really enjoy the tasty popcorn. but the best thing i like about the theatre was when a baby started crying someone went in and asked the parents to leave the theatre while the baby was crying and can return as soon as they can control their child. which i really admired because everyone did pay about 20 dollars for the tickets and then whatever they spent on the food and drinks. i always enjoy my visits to this theatre i just advoid the friday and saturday nights cause of the high capacity of children. well i hope you can have a great time as i have the many times i've been to this theatre.

I just moved to San Antonio less than month ago and I felt like going to the movies. I went to Mayan because it's the closest theater to my house. I decided to go watch Sweeney Todd and told my boyfriend to wait out side so I could buy the tickets I came back not even 15 minutes later to find my boyfriend to be mugged and beaten up. He had a broken nose and broken ribs. We called the cops but the manager said he couldn't do any thing and that my boy friend should learn how to fight. I tried have them pay for the hospital bill but that was shot done.Don't go to this theater it is a very bad place to go!!!

This is by far the worst theater that I've ever gone to. We parked in a parking spot which was right in front of where you buy tickets. When the movie finished, we went back to our car to find that it had been broken into. Our radio, some clothes, our school books, and some important documents were all stolen. No one had seen anything, and no one was sympathetic. They only told us that they weren't responsible for what happened. They told us that they did have cameras, but they only turn them on at night (a lie which I now see while reading other reviews). One of our friends prior to us going had gone and come out of the theater, only to find that his entire car was missing.

On the weekend of 1/13/07 we went to the Mayan because they were one of the only theaters that had the late late showing. We went into the theater at about 11:30 and got out at about 1:30 A.M., only to find that our vehicle had been stolen. That was the worst feeling in the world. Then we found out that there were no security cameras and only one security guard on duty at the time. We were told the security guards are expected to keep an eye on the parking lot and also inside the theater. IMPOSSIBLE!! Everyone has said "Why would you go to a movie on the Southside at that hour." But, I feel that if they are going to be showing movies at that hour, then they need to be providing adequate supervision of the parking lot. When you go to a movie you don't want to have to worry about leaving your car in the parking lot for a couple of hours. You also don't want to come out and find that you are now stranded because your car was stolen and nobody saw a thing. NEVER AGAIN!! If you ... Read more

I just moved nearby and have enjoyed my visit every time I have gone to a movie at the Mayan Palace. The young people -- employees are the best of any theater in town. I am an avid movie-goer with my family, friends and alone, so I know what I am talking about. Let me tell you what is so special about the Mayan Palace employees: they absolutely want to be of service to you and are sincerely nice and ready to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. Thre is no phoniness to these young people. Their service is fast and efficient, quietly and pleasantly delivered. It makes watching movies at the Mayan a real friendly experience. Upon arriving, my daughter and I visited the ladies bathroom and found the trash can over flowing, paper all over the floor and wet countertops. I found a manager, Mr. Solts (sp?) and told him that the ladies room needed attention. He said that he would take care of it right away and as we left him, I heard him radio to someone to take care of the ladies bathroom. After our movie ended, we re-visited the bathroom and found it in worse shape than before. I went looking for Mr. Solts and found another manager, Ms. Meagan Jasso and told her about what happened. She said that she knew that Mr. Solts had told someone to take care of it, but she guessed that the employee didn't do their job. Dirty eating areas, bathrooms and theaters show disrespect to the customers. The theaters on the southside need to be kept up like those on the northside. Does the management think we don't notice or deserve less? We were very disappointed... Due to the prices of movies now, taking the whole fa... Read more

Two years ago I went to buy movie tickets to go later during the night on my birthday. When I came back to my car 5 minutes later somebody broke into my car and stole my backpack and my expensive stereo. I went to ask for the security and they told me that he wasn't there. They are very irresponsible

We attended a movie around 9:00 pm, and there were three officers around the facility, My Truck's alarm went off when someone tried to break into it (completely breaking the handles on both sides), there were no camera's and not one officer saw anything. My Truck was parked 10 feet from the outside of the building.
