Fri Sep 09 2011I bought a new Rugby phone in March 2011 and it has never really worked properly. It is always telling me it's for emergency calls only (the customer service said it should be replaced but no one is taking it back so i have to live with it). It also has a terrible antenna that makes most of my calls cut in and out all the time for no particular reason. I'm not happy with this phone but i have to live with it since they wouldn't give me a replacement within the return period (the store said it was up to samsung, samsung said it was up to the store = stalemate & I'm stuck with a piece of garbage). I don't recommend this phone.

Mon Jun 28 2010This phone is everything they say it is for being indestructible. It is comfortable in your hand. And mine has great volume and clarity. I didn't get a blue tooth device, I just use speaker on Rugby. This is why it gets two whole stars. But it is a pain to text on. I used to do 50 texts a day. This phone is so miserable I may text twice a day. FIVE steps to send a text. FIVE!!! Unnecessary questions like "add recipient". Duh-uh!! I wrote a text didn't I?? And inserting symbols it's the same kind of thing. Why why why. I can buy a $20. phone that does it all so much easier. They said it didn't have "bells and whistles". That's fine. I gave up a touch screen etc. But I am now looking for another phone. I need ease of use and convenience in a clamshell. This phone was all I wanted. And the steps are all quite simple. Just so so many I don't even bother to use features I needed like calendar, alarms, and texting. Like I said simple steps but too too many!!!

Sun Nov 08 2009I bought this at another online site to replace a Samsung A437. The A437 was a good phone, I had no issues with it but wanted something a little more advanced and a bit more durable. This phone does all I need, and does it very well. I have no need for a pocket-sized laptop so anything beyond that is fluff to me. The only dribble I have is the front display does not stay on like my other phone did - I wish there were a software upgrade to give us the option - but I think I can survive with out it. Other then that, I love it! Just transferred my other SIM card and it was locked and loaded. I picked the yellow for ease of location across a room and the hard rubber shell does what it does just fine. IMO, all cell phones should be built like this one, or close to it, simply due to the nature of life as a cell phone in general. It's built well with a quality, heavy feel. I get great reception and it takes good pictures. I have no problem recommending it! Then again, I had an older... Read more

Fri Oct 09 2009I've had my phone for a few months and it is working great. I like the bigger buttons. The outside of the phone (what is yellow in the picture) feels like rubber but I keep it in my pocket a lot and it doesn't get stuck. I've dropped it many times and it still works. It doesn't show wear and tear like a lot of other phones I've had. The features are nothing special but as good as any other phone I've seen. I use mine for talking and texting and that's about it. It came with GPS but the GPS is not really useful unless you want to look at your phone while you are driving. The GPS does have a voice feature that talks though. Also, the speaker phone is very loud. I recommend this phone for anyone who is rough on phones and wants a good functional cell.

Mon Sep 28 2009My other half is hell on cell phones. This phone is great, and it withstands all he dishes out. He has dropped it numerous times, never broke. He likes the features on this phone, as he doesn't need a millions aps and gadgets. This is, as he says, "The best phone I've ever had".

Tue Sep 22 2009My husband and I both got Rugby's this week. As other reviews have stated they have some problems with the speaker volume. Both of our phones faded in and out , up and down and cut out. Every other word was... What? or HUH? when we talked to each other. They do seem to be durable but if you sound like your at the bottom of a well half the time and repeating yourself the other half its not worth the trade off. Maybe we just got bad phones! We did get them from Amazon.com who btw does not exchange defective phones, they are going to credit my account the full amout of each phone ( a whole 1 penny per phone). However, I am still in a contract with AT&T; and will have to pay my activation fees and full price for new phones or cancel my service. ...Its been nice knowing you AT&T.; Peace out

Sat Sep 12 2009My husband had a Samsung Rudgby phone for five weeks, when a crack formed on the front LCD cover. He had not dropped it, banged it or otherwise abused it. I checked it out carefully, not a scuff anywhere. He went to the AT&T; store, and was told he would have to deal with Samsung. Samsung said go to AT&T;, and so it went. Samsung would not even consider that the phone was defective. They asked us to send it in to be reviewed by the techs. The techs could not determine the cause of the crack, but we were told that they would not repair or replace the phone. Plus the warranty was now void because it had cracked. My husband has had cell phones since the 80's with never a problem. If this is a rugged phone (military grade)it was either a)defective or b)a piece of junk being advertised as a rugged phone. We bought another phone, a Mortorola Tundra. Shame on Samsung for not standing behind their products.
