The great disapproving straight man of the Muppets. There will be no fun of any kind on his watch, kids...

Funny for his obliviousness. Reminds me of pundits on FOX news. www.puppettreetv.com http://www.youtube.com/user/ThePuppetTree

I hated this character as a kid, but in college I knew a guy who looked just like Sam the Eagle..

His overly serious attitude rocks my boat. He does get into a lot of trouble whenever he gets to some issues, then it goes to him. A respectable figure falling into his own traps-silly and funny.

such a serious Eagle. sounds like Nixon. i like the speech he made about being naked. and got to the part when he said "underneath all those feathers, birds are Naked" then realizes that means him so he get horrified and leaves the set.

As a kid I liked him from the start and soon he became my  favorite Muppet.  No wonder, I was a classroom-Sam.

Sam the Eagle had his moments. He always discussed some problem in society such as nudity.

Sam the Eagle is funny.  I remember this skit where he was talking about how all the animals are walking around naked underneath their fur and feathers and then he realizes that he is also talking about himself, that was funny.

He tried so hard to bring some respectability to the Muppets.

I love in Muppet Treasure Island when Long John Silver (Tim Curry) tricks him into getting off the ship by telling him the lifeboats need inspected. Twenty minutes later in the film he floats up still evaluating the safety of the boat. Hilarious.

A no-nonsense presence on the Muppet Show. Nothing seemed to bring Sam down. He was great.

One of my favorite Muppets, He kind of reminds of Sideshow Bob, minus the killing of course. You're a bunch of weirdos!

One of my favourite muppets. "You are all nerds!!!" Just sort of popped up here and there to disapprove in no uncertain terms, then leave. And some of the funniest people have been the straight man, like Jack Benny, who served as the straight man on his own show.

Sam the Eagle rocks my socks! His stern-ness is so over-the-top, he steals every scene! I love him!

I love this muppet. Sam the eagle was always pissed off at how silly everthing and everyone was on the muppets. He stayed wanting to make the show a more classy act, like doing shakespeare plays, drinking tea, and being PC. Funny addition to the muppets!

I love this guy because he looks like UNC's basketball coach,Matt Doherty. Sam provides hours of laughs at unc's expense.

Ugh! I can't stand Sam! He's every bit as annoyingly uptight as the Larry 3000 from Time Squad, who I also hate.

To watch this character be so straight-laced and politically correct on the show and the movies makes him appealing. Plus, you got to love those eyebrows. I could see this guy in the political arena someday.

Sam is hiliarious. He's just so PC that it's funny as hell to see it all come crashing down in his face.

I don't remember him much in the original TV show, and his part was very small in Muppet Christmas Carol, but I loved his role in Muppet Treasure Island. They should focus on Sam more than they do.

It feels sacreligious to rate a Muppet with the word "Bad," but Sam the Eagle just didn't do it for me. Too stuffy.

He's funny, in an un-American sort of way... maybe it's how he thinks he's better than all the other Muppets, who do things that are un-American. In fact, I'm sure that's it!

I guess Sam was OK, but as a child he scared me more than he entertained me. I think if I was to watch him now, I may get his humor. I think he was geared more to the adult audience (or maybe I was just a really dumb kid who didn't get it..very possible).
