Salon Del Sol

I have been a client of Salon del Sol for over two years and always look forward to going for a haircut and partial highlight. The staff are friendly and my stylist works with me in achieving exactly what I am looking for. I always walk out of the salon loving my haircut and color!

I've been to this salon multiple times over the past year that I've lived in Richmond, and am sorry to say that each time has been a huge disappointment. Every time I scheduled an appointment, I asked for someone different hoping that would make a difference. This made it a little awkward as I think the stylists I previously used recognized me... but I go to the salon for a decent haircut, not to make friends. I've used "master" to "junior" to "associate" level stylists, and have been equally upset with all three. After the master cut, I actually cried on the way home! I think the problem is a salon "attitude", they all think they're hot stuff, but no one really connects with or listens to their clients. I'm not convinced they actually know how to cut thick hair well. They are always rushed, and I just am sick of being ripped off. Such a shame since I love the Aveda products, and thought the salon would be great.

I went to the Salon del Sol in Short Pump several times for both hair and spa services. The hair services that I received (color, haircut) were not worth the price. The staff preferred to stand around talking to each other rather than helping the clients. The woman who cut my hair was a junior stylist and really didn't listen to what I wanted with my cut. When she finished, it didn't look any different than when I came in. It wasn't worth my money. I decided to get my hair done elsewhere, but I still continue to come and see Nele. She is so wonderful. Her facials are amazing for my problem skin. She has now moved to the new location at Regency, which makes me so happy that I no longer have to fight the horrible traffic and chaos of Short Pump. I recommend Nele for any sort of spa service, but not the other staff at this salon.

My hair always looks terrific after Brianne does it! There were problems with the reception the first few times I booked - not too friendly...

Buyer BEWARE! Do NOT take these reviews seriously! Look at the dates! Isn't it AMAZING how Eddie, "The Master Stylist" has received a ton of reviews on May 18th and May 19th of this year, 2008??? FRAUD. I was *going* to check out this salon, but after seeing that Eddie has swooped in and attempted to scam/con prospective customers, I am now immediately turned OFF and will take my business elsewhere. Hey Eddie, next time you try to to scam for business, make sure you space out the reviews instead of posting them in a TWO day span. Scammer! *scoff*

I consider myself very fortunate to have found Salon Del Sol at Short Pump. I started going to Salon Del Sol two years ago. The moment I walk into the salon I am always greeted with a smile and professionalism. Who ever I get to shampoo my hair has always been delightful and great at making me feel relaxed and welcomed at the salon. Eddie Lewis has been my stylist for the past two years. He always styles and cuts my hair exactly the way I describe I want it to look. Thanks to him, my hair has grown out nice and long and stays in healthy condition due to his suggestions and taking the time to explain what products work best for my hair. I have been a regular customer of Eddie's at Salon del Sol, Short Pump for several years. I work for a competing salon company and the appearance of my hair is very important to me. I only go to the best. Eddie is a caring and attentive stylist. In addition to be highly skilled and educated, he has a natural talent for knowing what looks good on a person. I rely on him to keep my appearance updated and current without prompting.When you get your hair service, if you're lucky, Eddie will shampoo you. Get ready for the best shampoo and scalp massage ever!. When you find a great stylist, you have found a gem. When you find a great stylist you can trust, you have found someone that is.......priceless.

I thorougly enjoy my monthly visit to Salon Del Sol. Everyone is super friendly and courteous. The staff is extremely talented...I look fantastic everytime I walk out the door. All of my children also go to the salon for their cuts and I never get any complaints....they often ask how soon their next visit can be. I can't wait to go back!

I am from New York and it took me ten years to find Eddie and the crew at Salon Del Sol. They do a great job of making me feel welcome and I have never been ignored by the front desk staff. The assistants that are being trained are always friendly and courteous and Eddie is a marvel at doing hair. He listens to what you want and is always chatting with me while I am in his chair. I feel like part of their family. Good job folks.

I have been a customer at Salon Del Sol, Short Pump for the past 4 years and have never had a bad experience. In fact, I drive from Spotsylvania County to Richmond every 5-6 weeks to have my hair done at Salon Del Sol, because of the service I receive there. The staff is always friendly and ready to help you at a moment's notice. The Master Stylist (Eddie Lewis) who does my hair is wonderful. He and the staff make it their top priority that you have a good experience while in their salon. I have been there on the busiest of Saturdays as well as weeknights and still the service remains the same. Keep up the good work, Salon Del Sol!!

I moved to the Richmond area a year ago from Virginia Beach. I had intended to continue going to my salon in Virginia Beach, but the traffic made it impossible. I was referred to Eddie at Salon Del Sol by a friend. I have been VERY happy with the services I've received at Salon del Sol, and I have no current complaints. The staff has always been very professional and taken very good care of me the times I've been to the salon. As far as the ability to provide "edgy-er" cuts--the staff continually go to hair shows to keep up with the current trends, and Eddie has always been willing and able to provide me with whatever cut/style I've been interested in--including something "edgy." My suggestion to people who have posted negative comments about this salon is to speak with the salon manager regarding your specific complaints instead of posting all your comments on a website. I have been a client at this Salon for about 4 years. My entire family gets their hair cut here including my young children. All of the staff know us and truly go out of their way to accomodate us. I highly recommend Salon Del Sol at Short Pump.

I have been having my hair done by Eddie at Salon del sol for at least 5 years and have always had a great experience. My hair ALWAYS looks fabulous and the service has been great. I switched from a "ritzy" salon in carytown because the cost was outrageous for the service I received. It's been a refreshing change!

I love Salon Del Sol! It is wonderful to be pampered for a little while. Eddie is a fabulous stylist and colorist. He has a gift for finding the style that is perfect for you and your lifestyle. It is always my sense that the people there love what they are doing and take pride in their work. Scalp massages, hand massages, make-up touch ups... Everyone does everything they can to make it a relaxing and fun respite.

This is a quality salon without all the silly glitz. Everyone is attentive, polite, Eddie is a wonderful master stylist. He has a sense of what's comfortable for his clients and doesn't try to impose hair designs that don't suit them. His technique is excellent. The products are the best. Also, Nellie is a wonderful manicurist. She's pleasant and reads her clients well. Additionally, the Salon is convenient within a terrific shopping mall. I'm grateful it's here!

I have been a client of Salon Del Sol for many years since my last hairdresser (of over 10 years) decided that he preferred to cater to the upper class of Richmond. My stylist (Eddie) is a master hairstylist and has always treated me with the utmost respect. My hair always looks perfect when I walk out the door. If I ever need to change an appointment, he is willing to work with me. In all these years there has only been one problem with the appointment desk and Eddie quickly corrected the issue. My only regret is that I'm moving and can't take him with me!

I guess when you rate a place you have to consider the service you get. I can tell you first hand. I never walk out of Salon Del Sol without loving my hair. This of course is thanks to Eddie who has given me more great cuts and multi-colors in the last 4 years than I can say. I never have to question what he chooses because I know it will be fabulous. I have been to many salons including the most expensive in Manhattan and in London and neither came close to Eddie's touch. I don't care about a mall site or the small waiting area. I know when I leave Eddie will have worked his magic. For Estetician services Jade is out of this world. In Richmond, I will go nowhere else.

I moved here from LA where I went to high end salons in Bevery Hills (that sounds a little obnoxious, I know, but bear with me). These salons knew how treat people, they were courteous, friendly and fun. This place is AWFUL! The actual services were fine. Note FINE. Not exceptional. It's not an exceptionally beautiful venue. It's in a mall for petes sake! There is nothing exceptional about the place other than the prices and the attitude. I feel bad for the people actually providing the services, you know, the actual talent in the place. They are being sabotaged by the horrible obnoxious reception staff, whose entire skillset involves making appointments, greeting people and running the register. Can we spell replaceable??

The people upfront are rude as they cant even look at you in the face when speaking to you. I went there to get my hair cut last week. The haircut was good. However, when i checked in, Brian didnt even look at me while telling me to go around the corner and have a seat. there was no room to have a seat as they only have two benches. I did not expect it to be that small of a salon. Finally, after 15mins of waiting past my apt. time, my person came to get me. As he is washing my hair, he tells me that today would be his last day there. No body bothered to tell me this when i booked the apt. four days earlier. When i went to pay, Brian again, didnt even look up at me to tell me how much my total was. I paid with a gift card. After he scanned/swipped it, he just handed it to me and got on the phone. Err.. So, if you're like me- you spend a whole lot of time trying to find that salon/stylist you love and trust and know will do what you request of them when you bring in 3 pictures of the cut you want. This place isn't it, but I guess that's if you only want to pay about $40. Possibly the 'masters' will cut your hair into shape- but mind you I got the vibe this place is very safe and won't really venture toward edgey, but subtle cuts- just very vanilla for the Short Pump crowd. I'd suggest Envy Salon on Stuart and Patterson!!
