Sun Mar 15 2009I worked as an employee at sfa in two different locations for cosmetics. It is like working in a resort. You can do whatever you want. i.e..talk on your cell all day, eat and drink on the floor, scream across the bays to get one anothers attention, steal sales from eachother, fight with eachother, come and go as you please. What I saw was ridiculous. Employees making anywhere from $20-$30/hr and getting away with murder. I am embarrassed at some of the behavior I saw on the floor and I can't believe I was working at what was supposed to be a high end store. There are associates there that should of been terminated a long time ago but get away with murder and cause other hard working employees to leave. Being written up is a joke. It doesn't mean anything. I have never seen anybody get fired for not doing their job, only for stealing. It is impossible to get fired nomatter what. I think SFA is afraid of getting sued but instead of getting rid of the bad employees , the good o... Read more

Sat Mar 07 2009Beware of shopping online with SAKS. I placed a rather significant order over the holidays with SAKS, and nearly the entire order arrived with broken and missing items. When I immediately notified SAKS, additionally inquiering if another parcel was being shipped because of the numerous missing items, I received no reply other than "someone would get back with me." When a SAKS rep. phoned me, I was non chalantly told, "We don't believe you therefore we do not feel it is our fault so we are denying your claim." Before she could hang up on me, I said, "JUST A MINUTE! I have all the junk right here, and I took plenty of photos of the damaged items." The rep. put me on hold, came back on and asked that I send them the photos, which I scanned and sent to SAKS. A few days later, another rep. contacted me and stated that I "doctored" the photos and the merchandise was not from SAKS! They never asked for the numerous parcels to be returned, never offered me a refund, store credit, repla... Read more

Tue Mar 03 2009I do not know how SAKS Fifth Avenue shopping is in person; however, if you purchase ONLINE and ANYTHING is incorrect with your order, WATCH IT! They WILL go after you; they will not assist you in resolving their packing and shipping errors, and no matter how small or large the problem or purchase, SAKS will fight you until the end. If you do send back the damaged parcel and merchandise, there is still absolutely no guarantee that your problem will be resolved. I would expect a "high-end" company such as SAKS to sell and ship quality merchandise. I have never received an order with so much damaged merchandise. It really makes me wonder just exactly what SAKS is selling. What I received was more like merchandise that was tossed in the "disgarded unsaleable to the general public" pile. An update to this note: It took me three months to get SAKS to pick up their garbage parcels. I was contacted by someone from SAKS who stated that they were going to my CC to recover THEIR funds b... Thu Dec 18 2008I've been to Mario and Aveda and too many other salons to mention and none of them compares to Saks where I found Ghita Jones. She took the time to listen to what I wanted and gave me even more than I could have ever expected! She gave me a great stylish cut that is so complimentary to the shape of my face. My color and highlights are so natural and beautiful I still haven't stopped receiving compliments. I don't know where she learned her technique but kudos to her mentor! I wish I would have found Ghita years ago. She seems to be the best kept secret in Chicago but not for long if I have anything to say about it. The good news is I found her now and I hope to God she'll be around for years to come!!!

Mon Dec 08 2008Saks is my favorite store because they have such a huge selection. The only time i can afford anything there is during their sales, but it is well worth it!!!! Everything in that store is tastefully picked. If I strike it rich one day, I would live there. On black friday I got a a $700 Gucci boot for $190 bucks. LOVE IT!!!

Wed Nov 26 2008For all of you who go on and on about the high quality products offered by this company and how it's worth the money, etc.. I would like to see a quality vs. price chart comparing three items; 1) $5 Hanes T-shirt, 2) $14 Gap T-shirt and 3) $225 Versace T-shirt (I'm talking about men's shirts here, the one with a blue stripe that looks like you accidentally took a marker to the thing). I'm sorry, but the difference in quality simply cannot justify the outrageous price.

Mon Nov 03 2008I was recently at Saks to purchase a gift. Salesman was very helpful to begin with but once he finished the transaction. He didn't want to help me with anything else. I asked for manager and they told me he was too busy. I will never ever shop at Saks in Orange County. I had better customer service at Walmart.

Tue Sep 09 2008Ghita Jones is excellent with color and cuts as well as excellent with bridal updo's and more. I would say she is really the only one with any talent at this salon. See her before you waist your time!

Sun May 11 2008Saks Fifth Avenue is one of the BEST department stores in the world. Yes, it's expensive but they choose the best of the best from luxury high fashion to put in their store. The jewelry and watches will dazzle you. The handbags are incredible! If those designers price tags are too much for you- check out their famous contemporary clothing level which carries $250 jeans, $300 dresses and great seasonal sales!!! A must see for visitors and a frequent of all posh New Yorkers. A+++

Tue Feb 19 2008The Saks in Orange County has very nice sale associates. Even when I make returns the sale associates are happy to help me & very professional. The only complaint I have is that there isn't that large of a selection. I've gone to the Saks in Beverly Hills once & I noticed a big difference. The Beverly Hills Saks is a lot bigger & has a larger selection of merchandise (obviously, it's Beverly Hills). But when asking a sales associate to point me in the direction of Christian Louboutin, he did just that...all he did was "point"! He didn't udder a single word to me. I even said "thank you" after he pointed & still no response. He didn't seem anxious to help me, like I couldn't afford Saks. Considering I was dropped off right in front of their doors in a Mercedes-Benz S550. So to throw it back in their face I actually yelled out, "Screw this, I'm going to Neiman Marcus next store". And to tell you the truth, Neiman Marcus had an even bigger selection of products then Saks did. When I buy f... Read more

Sat Feb 09 2008I loved The Sacks but not anymore.not at all.I bought a CHANEL BAG 18 month ago and it was broken couples days ago.I went to The Sacks in Bala Cynwyd, pa.Guess what? They said they can not take it because I do not have a receipt from 18 months ago for the repair. I do have my Chanel certification card from purchase. But they asked me to bring the receipt. I did not aksed free repair. I just want to repair. How many people keep their receipts for more than 1 year. They did not inform their policy when I bought and now they are telling me. Because I am not a lady eveyday stop by and chat with their claks. Never ever go to Saks if you can not keep your receipts until you die or you can not trash a Chanel bag.

Sun Nov 11 2007I found the shoe salon very disappointing. It is quite sleek and inviting. But what good is a shoe salon if you can't buy any shoes? My mother and I both wear difficult-to-find sizes, 9 AAAA and 10 AAAA, respectively. I was told that they do not carry these sizes. I was told that they could possibly special order shoes for me. I can do that at home. Where's the joy in shopping there?

Wed Oct 24 2007Oh Saks.... You disappoint me. I had high hopes when I booked my facial for spa week. I figured, it's Saks, it's gotta be good... right? Wrong! I was unsure of the location of the Spa and I could barely catch the attention of a single employee to point me in the right direction. Finally someone gestured silently without even looking up from what they were doing... Are you kidding me?!?! Here are my complaints, in no particular order: -There is a locker room like area to change, but only one curtained area. If someone is using it, you've got to wait or change in a bathroom stall... gross. -The wrap they gave me to put on under my robe closed with velcro. The velcro was COVERED in hair... so sick. -The robe they gave me was an XL. I was swimming in it. -The floor was in dire need of a sweeping/mopping. -When I entered the room for my facial I immediately noticed that many of the ceiling tiles were ill-fitting, damaged and not properly inserted into the ceiling... It looked incred... Read more

Wed Oct 17 2007GHITA JONES is absolutely fantastic. She did my hair today and I am as blonde as ever. Ghita is so sweet, will listen to you, she is great at what she does, and just a colorist you will always go to. I highly recommend her!!!!! (And I am super picky who does my highlights). Actually, my best friend recommended me to her...all of our Lincoln Park group goes to see her. She is the best!!!!!

Wed Mar 21 2007I WOULD HAVE RATED THIS STORE A ZERO, BUT THE SITE DOESN'T ALLOW THATThe Saks in New York City was the most racist employment experience I have ever encountered as a black person. I was hired as a "merchandiser" along with two other white females. Now initially I was told by HR that the salary for this position was a certain amount; but when I was later hired the HR rep informed me that I would be receiving a lesser salary. I took the job anyway thinking that the position could lead to something better down the road. So after about a week I had met and got to know the other two girls that were hired for the EXACT same position as "merchandiser". I found out that one girl did not have a college education or retail experience; the other graduated from college but no retail experience. During a casual chat with one of the girls, she informed me of her salary- the salary that I was initially told I would be receiving! To make a long story short(er) and to cut to the chase, I, with a 4-year... Read more

Fri Mar 16 2007In the end, I think it depends on which Saks you visit. The NYC Saks is downright rude--but perhaps that's because they are usually swamped with customers. I definitely give the Chicago Saks 5 stars. The ones in D.C., New Orleans and Vegas are pretty decent too. Saks merchandise is, of course, top quality--much better than the junk at Nordstrom's or Lord and Taylor. Their sales are fantastic; they have a great points system; and, best of all, the associates almost always go out of their way to get you what you want (i.e., do store searches and order items for you). Some of you have mentioned race here; as far as the Chicago one goes, the sales associates are of diverse backgrounds--especially within the last decade: speaking as an Asian, this is one of the few upscale department stores that does not treat me like a second-class citizen even when I'm NOT dressed like a Gold Coast lady-who-lunches.

Sun Jan 28 2007I was on the waiting list and they called upon receiving a cancellation and I hurried over. I was greeted by Crystal (my consultant) and she invited me to sit down and talk about my day and vision for the dress. She asked clarifying questions and wrote things down. She invited me and my 2 friends back to the dressing rooms. We were immediately offered our choice of beverages. When she returned with our drinks, she noticed that the bigger room was open and moved us in there. The rooms were a nice size with a robe and several mirrors for the bride and seating for your guests. The first round of dresses were BEAUTIFUL-all different variations of what I had asked for and envisioned. She would first present all gowns to me, telling me the designer and what about the dress she thought I would like. I got to pick the order of the dresses and she helped me into them. The room was already equipped with a pedestal and 2 mirrrors (one was a 3-way). Upon getting in the dress should woul... Read more

Fri Jan 26 2007In Short Saks is the retail hub for classics like Calvin Klein, Donna Karan, Michael Kors, Kate Spade, Ralph Lauren, Prada and Badgley Mischka. This department store gets props for its petite and Salon Z (sizes 14-24) women's collections, as well as great selection for the little ones. Each department is a boutique to itself, boasting well-trained clerks who not only sell the good life--they set the example.

Fri Dec 15 2006Beautiful store, selection of merchandise lacks they don?t always carry the newest vendors , designers. I find myself having better luck at neimans, Barneys, or even a local boutique. The employees can often be rude if your not spending top dollar!

Fri Nov 10 2006My experience at the M.A.C Counter was amazing. I would always spend my money with Lancome because I would always get the gift with purchase. Yesterday, I recieved the worst service at Lancome that i went ahead and went to M.A.C. I used to under estimate M.A.C because I have always thought that it was for the younger girls and since it was at a low price point it would not be worth it. I was totally proved wrong. I was assisted my the Business Manager by the name of Diego and a Saks Associate by the name of Jack and both made my experience with M.A.C worth my time. Diego did my make up from skin care, foundation, eyes and lips and it came out so beautiful and well blended. The experience I got at M.A.C, I had never recieved at Lancome and from the makeup applied on me by Diego the M.A.C artist, was way better applied then the artist from Lancome. I ended up buying everything and I saved so much money. I am now a M.A.C customer. Ladies, GO TO DIEGO and JACK at SAKS NEW YORK. WELL WORT... Read more

Tue Feb 28 2006Saks Fifth Avenue offers the best quality, and the best things in life are never free. If you can't afford it, too bad, so sad. People who even try to compare Saks to other retailers have never looked close enough to see what real quality is. Try to buy a Mercedes on a Volkswagen budget and see what you get. To the naked eye, they are both german cars, but boy are they different!! Try shopping the South Coast Plaza store in Costa Mesa if you want great service in a friendly environment.

Mon Feb 27 2006Previous trips to Saks were delightful until a couple months ago. I asked for help purchasing a sturdy pair of sunglasses since the Chanel's I bought there broke when they fell onto linoleum and was treated like I stole something. I felt like I was wasting the "customer service" rep.s time and I will never return. I went to Subway directly after the experience and encountered the same warm welcome that every Subway store offers. If Subway only sold designer sunglasses I'd have no complaints.

Sun Jan 29 2006I don't think Saks is particularly racist of judges by appearence. I think they are rude to EVERYONE. I have been in there on two occasions. Both times dressed very nice. I am blonde and skinny also. But no one would even look at me. When I asked for help, all I got was a rude respose. The only reason I am interested in going there is becuse they carry a line of wedding dresses I am interested in that no one else in Ohio carries. But I am not sure if I am willing to spend that much money in a place that is rude.

Sat Mar 26 2005Personally, I hate the store. The attendants are like gum to your shoe in that they don't let you breathe for one second without telling you this must have $500 shirt (that was probably made in a Chinese sweatshop & cost them $6 to make). For some reason that I still fail to grasp, my wife likes shopping here but she buys the clothes with her own money so I'm fine with it...but I'd sooner eat a cockroach then shop here.

Fri Feb 11 2005Though I congratulate people who can afford to shop in this one of the most pretentious stores in the epicenter of ostentation 5th Ave- I still don't understand why someone would spend more for equal product. I purchased a suit here and was impressed with the service but no more so than I've been at other places of less value. I can do without the Saks bags I'm more about function.

Sun Nov 02 2003Anything you want, they got it. Uptown girls with daddies amex and all other fashion conscious manhattanites flock to this megastore of designer glamour. The sales staff on the first floor are very helpfull and pleasant, but as the floors go up and the clothes get more coture, they tend to be more discerning with who they offer help to, which is understandable when sixteen year old girls want to try on a tenty thousand Badgly Mischka, just for kicks.

Thu Jul 31 2003Floors 6 (dressy formal wear, suits, shoes, jewerly) and Floor 7 (younger, contemporary) are a paradise for the male metrosexual. Go when they have a sale, you can end up with great clothing (I scored a pair of Costune National pants for $130 during the Finale sale). Extensive selection of Helumt Lang, Theory, Dolce and Gabbana, Hugo Boss, John Varvatos, Micheal Kors. You name it its at Saks. Salespeople can be iffy though - some of the guys on 7 think they are on the runway instead of the selling floor.

Thu Mar 20 2003the quality of the product - great, but the service you recieve along with the shopping experience - a disgrace. the associates are so snooty...they lose my sale every time because they have no concept of how to treat a customer.

Mon Mar 10 2003my friend went there with her father to buy a prom dress. Her father asked if they had prom dresses there and the sales lady said that she didnt think they had any at the store that my friends father could afford! They should realize that just because someone doesnt act like a rich snob doesnt mean they are poor.

Sun Dec 08 2002I can't believe spending so much money just to be served by arrogant people. Even the store manager listening to complaints has an attitude!Had a much better experience at Bergdorf Goodman for the same or less price.
by big_shoes_guy
Sat Dec 07 2002Ladies, if you are foolish enough to shop at Saks in LA, PLEASE watch out for the store personnell, if they think you are a "Jewish B***ch from Beverly Hills" it might be frame-up time. And they are always rude and stuck up, one wonders why people who have such a problem "waiting on" others bother to get jobs like that. :-)

Fri Nov 29 2002While I think they used to be cold, I have found the service very improved. The store has been remodeled, the merchandise updated, and the staff upgraded! A landmark store not to be missed.

Tue Sep 17 2002The cosmetics staff is the best in NYC!!!! They are so helpful and go out of their way to help you find what you are looking for. They are my family.

Sun Aug 25 2002The men's department, which takes up two entire floors, is terrific. If your tastes are a bit more conservative than Barney's and a bit less expensive than Bergdorf Goodman, then you'll be in heaven. I saw one salesperson who sailed past me to greet another customer, but the lady who took care of us was extremely helpful and friendly. Even during the big sale a month ago the staff wasn't harried or stressed. Best spot in the store is the custom suit gallery in the very front of the 6th floor - the windows look right down the Channel Gardens to the Rockefeller Center skating rink.
by choth211195966_6559
Sat Aug 24 2002The selection is good here, and they even sell brands that Bergdorf and Barneys don't carry like Holland & Holland, Helmut Lang (sold at Barneys, but not at Bergdorf), Neil Barrett, Hilditch & Key, and some others. But the sales people here can be clueless to downright aggressive. Plus the store just doesn't come to par with either Bergdorf or Barneys.

Wed Jun 05 2002I like the variety and quality of Saks, although the prices are very high. Men's suits are particularly nice; the shirt selection is rich as well.
