Safeco Field

You're not aloud to actually cheer for your team here. The park policies are ridiculous. They expect all fans to remain firmly seated for the duration of the contest, no matter if it's a critical point in the game when the crowd should be excited and encouraging their team. The cause is a subdued atmosphere which is a real bummer. I went to opening day in 2007 and predicted correctly that the loudest point in the game would take place during the simulated hydroplane race shown on the big screen, never mind Sexton's go-ahead homerun. By all means, this is a splendid park deserving of better from its managment and their policies. In the Kingdome, at least we were aloud to be good fans.

Now, I'll be the first to admit that I was sooo unhappy to see the Kingdome go... It was just an old classic icon of Seattle. I didn't want to see it leave and I didn't want any part of the replacement. I didn't go to Safeco for the first year or so after it was built, but brother... When I finally did walk in, I was in love! This stadium just has that great classic baseball stadium feel! It really seems true that there aren't bad seats in the house! The views are great, the retractable roof makes weather always tolerable (except for the cold, you're on your own on that part), and I really don't think the concessions are so ridiculously expensive. They aren't cheap, by any means, but who goes to a baseball game and expects them to be? I don't go to the movies and expect grocery prices for my food either. Absolutely great place to watch a major league ballgame from early July on! As a native Californian evening games tend to be too cold for me early in the year. Friends that were out from Boston last year would trade Fenway for The Safe in a heartbeat. I've been to all the west coast MLB stadiums plus Coors, Kauffman stadium & BOB and I haven't been to one yet that has anything on Safeco Field! How else could the M's draw the 6th best attendance in baseball last year with a team that's finished dead last in the AL West for three consecutive years?

Safeco is a very nice stadium. I didnt used to believe the statement that there isn't a bad seat in the house...but, it is true. You can see pretty well from anywhere. I especially like the retractable roof feature...it's great to be able to see the beautiful sky during the day, sunset, or at night...and it's nice that the roof can be closed so that you don't get rained upon...which happens a lot in Seattle.

There is not a bad seat in the place! Parking is good, parking garage on the south side with walk way to the stadium. Other parking across the street or private ($2-$5.00) for the event. Concessions, good food from Oriental to BBQ. The best for us natives who know it rains here is the sliding roof. It will cover the stadium in about 5 minutes! Great seats from first to top level! Even the outfield seats are great!

The Venue Walk into Safeco and it's like you're walking into an old-fashioned baseball stadium. It starts with the metal sculptures--ballplayers striking classic poses--that adorn exterior fences. It continues with a red-brick facade. Once inside, however, you're in for a real treat: The park is intimate, sight lines are fabulous. Especially pleasing is being able to enter onto Level 1 and circle the field--without ever losing sight of the game. The Experience Baseball as it was meant to be played. Real grass. Real sky. The smells of hot dogs and popcorn wafting about. Sit behind home plate and you'll still feel close to the folks in the outfield bleacher seats. Sit along first base and you'll get a great view of downtown. Rain? Don't worry about it. The state-of-the-art roof is quickly closed (it takes about 15 minutes to fully cover the stadium).

Safeco Field had to be one of, if not, the best baseball stadium in the US. There really isn't a bad seat in the house. You feel as close to field on the 300 level as you would on the 100 level. Rainouts? No problem! The retractable roof lets you enjoy the game rain or shine. I recommend bringing your own food to the game (you are allowed to bring food, but not drinks into the stadium), as concessions can be pricey. Parking isn't so great either. Overall -- a great place to watch a game and soak up the atmosphere.

"The Safe" (how apt is 90's Restoration Hardware version of what a ballpark should be with a gratuittous tin roof. It should have been on lot lot north of the Kingdome, not south of it. The Mariners wanted it way south to trap more concession money. Inconvenieint by design. Parking--Please! Instead of a lasting original statement like the Space Needle, we got another Hammering Man, instead of art, a franchise location. Instead of a great view of the skyline or the bay, we got the backside of a football stadium. The roof is just dumb.

Safeco has become so much more than a venue to all of us diehard M's fans. It's home to some of the most amazing sunsets and summer nights, awesome food, and the best team and fans in the world. The feeling you get while taking it all in is this unbelievable high and there's no place I personally would rather be to watch baseball than Safeco Field, my home away from home.

Might have missed it but did not see a comment about the bullpen. Nowhere else that I know of can you get THAT close to the speeding pitches as they warm up. From every angle too! You can stand behind the catcher and watch the ball coming at you (from behind a sturdy chainlink fence of course). Went to a game with my son when he graduated UW-Law and WOW what a place to watch baseball. In Mpls-St. Paul we're stuck with a dome almost as bad as the Kingdome was. My instant impression was "when can the Twins have a home like this?" I might even go see them then.

This stadium is a GRAND SALAMI! I have been to a few of the newer stadiums (SBC Park in S.F., Minute Maid Park in Houston) and I have never felt so close to the action as I have at the Safe! Great concessions, great fans, and a great ball club!

The one thing that people have not touched on is the atmosphere. It is more than a baseball game, it is an event. I am not a baseball fan, and I attended over 10 games a season. There is really something for everyone- from the video boards, the music, interactive games, etc. Go experience the MOJO!!!

A beautiful ballpark that harkens back to the old days of baseball, yet completely shows it is 21st century Seattle. If your military or retired military try parking at the Coast Guard Base. Free and short walk to stadium.

SafeCo is a great place to watch a baseball game. I sat in two different levels and both had excellent views of the game, as well as a fabulous view of downtown from behind first base. You can walk around the entire stadium on the field level which gives you the intimate feel of being at a minor league stadium. Easy access to concessions ( food, drink and souveniers ) without long lines. Two suggestions....I stayed downtown and caught the bus (free) to Union Station just a few blocks from the left field entrance. On the way there are people selling the treats that you pay alot more for once you get inside ( a package of kettle korn and peanuts can be had for under $5.00 outside and they let you bring it into the stadium ) also shop the vendors for deals on tee shirts, etc.).

The field is awesome, the vantage points throughout the stadium are all good, and of course, you've got the Mariners playing there... It's just an excellent place to watch a game. Now the downside... Parking; I think we would've drove around for another 30-40 minutes had we not happened accross a small lot by a gas station accross from the left-field wall... with the price you pay to see baseball, parking should be simple and free. The other knock I have is the prices of food and drinks there, good lord people, I should get change from a twenty if I grab 2 dogs and 2 beers...ticket prices are high enough, the players are making millions! Lower the rent for the vendors, or whatever you have to do to bring down those concession prices, make parking a snap, and I'de love to make more trips to such a beautiful park!

The parking really sucks unless you're atleast 2hrs. early you're driving around for a half hour, or you are walking that long.

A classic stadium modernized. A sunny day at the Safe cannot be beat if you're a baseball fan!

One of the few things my husband and I have in common is Baseball. We never attended Mariners games until Safeco was built. Now we include tickets, parking and concessions as part of our monthly budget during baseball season. We love it! It isn't just great baseball with the Mariners that brings us back over and over, but the whole experience that Safeco Field offers as a premier venue.

I love Safeco Field. It has the fell of the old time stadiums. I grew up in Tiger Stadium and Safeco has that kind of classic feel. How did we put up with the Kingdome so long? Even when the roof closes on Safeco you're still outside. Ok, the concessions are the worst I have ever seen. The prices are offensive to the point where I want to protest. I've NEVER seen a ballpark so expensive.

Safco Field has awsome garlic fries. Baseball is at it's best when you come to Safeco Field. I hope that the Mariners do good this year as they have a new manager.

If you like sports than you will like this place. But your in Seattle. Go to a club, museum, gallery, or shop. We have some of the best glass blowers in the US, check it out. The William Traver gallery on 1st.

The stadium is beautiful. I'm from Houston and we have an awesome stadium too but it's neat that you can look out onto the water from Safeco Field. It's also nice that you can buy food from outside and bring it in. We can't do that at Minute Maid Park. Almost all the seats were full on a Tuesday night game.

Two words: GARLIC FRIES Who hasn't smelled that wonderful aroma the minute they enter the park? Delicious! The park is beautiful no matter where your seats are

When I think Of Seattle Wa. I think of the smell of the ocean blowing in from left field as Im watching the Mariners beat every team in Major League Baseball. Safco field is a very unique Venue. Therefore I would rate Safeco Field a 'Must See' when you visit Seattle.

The experience of Safeco Field rivals any other ballpark in the world. The architects at NBBJ created a brick structure that reflects the neighborhood of Pioneer Square that connects Safeco Field to the city. The retractable roof can open and shut in a matter of minutes if rain begins. No more rainouts, no more indoor games when it is sunny. The Mariners are an exciting team, and the ballpark is a great place for a fun family experience.

Thank God the Kingdome is gone, and now we have Safeco. No matter how awesome any park can be, it's never going to be perfect, and they will ALWAYS make a better park. But for the time being, Seattle finally has a ball park to be proud of. The seating positions are excellent from most all vantage poing. Getting around the park is very convienent. Though the food can be improved, it's far better than what was offered at da dome. My only complain is that there are still too many bitter people over how the park got to be. To you that are til bitter... suck it up... we got our park and the debate is all over.

Unlike that ballpark in Denver, Safeco is a real baseball field where teams that actually play defense and use some strategy can win on a regular basis.

I have been to nine of the top ten parks listed. Not Miller Park yet. SAFECO Field is number one. Coors is a very close second (not surprisingly since Seattle mostly copied Coors Field) PNC would be next if they actually had food worth eating and beer worth drinking.

I've never been a sports fan, but when I went to Safeco I became one. I yearn to ignorantly watch the game in person, smell the malange of foods, drink beer and indulge in the whole American experience. Safeco holds a magic that shouldn't be missed. The seats lack leg room. That is the only drawback, however, the cleanliness and general glee of the fans easliy make up for it.

I love this field. It's what Baseball is all about. From the great veiw everywhere to the fun things to do and see, It's a place Seattle can be proud of. I've been to many fields through out the U.S. and most recently Bank One in Az. Safeco is my all time favorite.

An incredible stadium for an incredible team. When the sun is out, there is not a better place to watch a game anywhere. This is a first class stadium and everytime I am in town from LA, I will always watch a game.

Being a huge Seattle Mariners fan, I love going to Safeco Field. Even though I live 7 hours away from Seattle I still make the trip quite often because going to Safeco is such a pleasant experience. The atmosphere is fun, friendly, and safe. The seating is great and you have an excellent view from anywhere in the stadium. There is even a no alcohol section. Parking isn't even a hassle, you can get as close as 100 feet of the ballpark. The concessions at Safeco are superb. You will experience one of the largest varieties of Seattle cuisine and also the some of the best. Safeco Field is my absolute favorite place in Seattle and I would recommend it to everyone.

I have been to over 100 games. Almost Every ticket I have had a diffrent seat. I think that so far I have not had a bad seat. I think it is the atmospher! The Fans! The Team!

I can't even think of another way to say it other than WOW what a beautiful stadium when the sun is out.

Safeco's always a blast. When the boss came to town recently (the guy writing about sushi at the park, two comments down), taking him to see an M's game was a good way to show him what Seattle's really about, after the obligatory trip to the Space Needle.

Safeco is a great place to take in a game for two reasons. 1: The stadium is great--it has a wide open concourse and there aren't many bad seats in the house. 2: The fans in Seattle really get behind the team. Here's hoping they take down the Yankees this year.

I'll admit, it felt kinda weird to be eating with chopsticks at the old ballgame -- but the sushi was pretty good. And the next night, I went for a teriyaki bento box. Save a few bucks, though, and grab lunch or dinner outside the park -- then pack it in and enjoy during the game.
