Its a nice enough city, although not a stand-out. I'd really like to get my hands on the son of a bitch who decided on the street pattern though, especially the charmingly irritating use of one way streets.

Driving in Sacramento is the pits, very confusing and frustrating. The easiest thing to get to is the airport which is closer to Woodland then Sacramento. The capitol building, old Sacramento and the K St. Mall are worth visiting. There is also a very good Railway Museum next to old Sacramento. If you are in town during the NBA season and you are a fan of the game you should try to catch a Kings game, the fans are the best. In the winter it can get cold and look out for the valley fog.

Though hot in the summer, it is a good city to see as the residential areas and some of its parks (including Old Sacramento) are beautiful. The place itself is quite convienient as now it can show you the way to many destinations (they have signs up) and their transit system is all right- light rail is the best for going around Sacramento. Not too high profile like the Bay Area, LA and San Diego, but if you tolerate the climate and see its diverse history in Spanish rule to the Gold Rush and up to today, this city on the way outskirts of the Bay Area and situated on the Sacramento and American Rivers is great to see. If you are a fan of NCAA Track and Field or women's rowing, you have plenty of chances to see the city- CSU-Sacramento will host both championships until 2008, or perhaps forever. This city along with partnership with the Bay Area deserves to host the 2016 Olympics- hope they do...

All of california is pretty much a hell hole, extremely overrated, TV doesnt give it justice, some shows actually make it look nice. Sacramento is no exception, pretty dull, locals aren't very friendly and just no reason to get excited about anything.

People who visit don't like it because they think California should be 80 degrees and close to a beach. People who live there don't like it because San Francisco's close and they can't understand why they aren't living there. I went there with no expectations and I liked it. The temperature is very hot and dry in the summer but nothing like Phoenix, Vegas or cities in Texas, and there is no humidity like there is in Orlando, Miami, or Atlanta, which to me is worse because you sweat more and feel like you can't breathe. It is cold in the winter for a California city but certainly not even comparable to a northern winter. Public transportation is good and rent is significantly cheaper than the other large cities I mentioned. What I enjoyed about Sac is that it is not a melting pot; most people who re-locate to a California city choose San Francisco, LA or San Diego. You really get a chance to mingle with California locals, and they almost seemed appreciative that I visited their c... Read more

California is a beautiful state, but its capital is an eyesore. I've been in Sacramento in June, and it felt more like Mississippi than Cali: hot, humid and bugs everywhere. Bonus: it gets freezing cold in the winter, apparently! There's no reason to visit this dump except on business, and the cost of living isn't much lower than in coastal California, so why would you want live there?

This place is a desolate urban sprawl nightmare in the middle of nowhere. It's only saving grace is that I had a really good burger there at Earl of Sandwich.
