Rosamunde is a great new lunch option in the mission, home to taquerias and not much else. Rosamunde's Mission location is pretty classy in relation to their dive in lower haight. They serve about 10 different types of sausage on a grilled potato roll with your choice of toppings or alongside a salad and baked beans for a larger meal. They house long German beer hall-style tables in a great space right next to 24th St Bart. Their sausage is outstanding. I've tried 4 different varieties: chicken-cherry, quail-cranberry, Hungarian (a spicy kielbasa) and Basque (a pork sausage made with wine). All were delicious and impressively unique in flavor. If those all sound pretentious, it's because I tend to try their daily specials, but of course they have standard beer sausage, bratwurst and Italian sausage available. They also have breakfast in the mornings, brunch on weekends and an impressive array of beer on tap for the evening. I'll definitely return.

Picture Update (03/30/2010): If I didn't have to work... (not that they are my favorite beers...) They offer a large assortment of imported beers on tap and on bottle. They have some white and red wines, but obviously their specialty are beers. You can pick one of the 13 different kind of sausages on a french roll or on a plate. I got the nuernberger bratwurst with sauerkraut and grilled onions. It was delicious but next time I will pass on the sauerkraut because it's too sweet for me. I recommend to try the Garlic and Pepper mayonnaise with your sausage...it was just delicious. There is a bar space and a lot a long tables to sit with friends. The bar has a large screen where they broadcast sports. I like the vibe you breathe on this sausage grill. It's a hipster bar/restaurant in a part of the Mission dominated by Latin American restaurants and bars. I am glad there is a place like this on Mission St and for sure this is going to be a regular option for my lunch, and why not,... Read more

Big younger brother to the tiny specialty shop in the Lower Haight that sparked a citywide sausage revival, the second outpost of Rosamunde brings the same selection of meat tubes to the Mission, plus a solid selection of euro/mircobrews. Laid out like an indoor Zeitgeist, the room is wall-to-wall picnic tables, meaning all seating (minus a couple of benches and stools in the back) is communal, not that the keffiyeh-wrapped crowd of scruffy art majors minds. The sausage options are similar to the original’s—all the standard brats, plus duck, pheasant, Merguez, etc., though this location offers a special “Mission Street” version: beef wrapped in bacon, though there is a cheese plate available here. What made the first Rosamunde so popular was having one of the city’s best beer bars, Toronado, next door, but this location offers an impressive lineup of brews itself: about fifty (mostly) craft beers, from Allagash White to Delirium Tremens back down to PBR.

I think I would have gotten along just fine growing up in Germany. As the name implies, Rosamunde is all about the sausage. They have all kinds of different varieties, displayed in a deli counter - Italian, duck, uh, Vegan, and even a Mission Street Special (beef dog wrapped in bacon). They have a big selection of draft beer, and a big selection of bottled beer. This place is pretty much about beer and sausage. They play loud music, and have a huge, gorgeous bar. Seating is family style, at big picnic tables. This may be the coolest place on Mission street now.
