Thu Apr 15 2010They did my neighbors sewer lateral and left the yard a total mess. I was also in need of sewer work, and was dumb enough to try to do business with them. Left multiple messages, and to make a long story short, they basically decided not to even call me back when I got a better bid from Pipe Repair Services who has a far better reputation in Portland anyway. If Bridgette is running the office, than this is really her lack of simple professional business etiquette. Worked out great for me though.

Sat Jan 16 2010I joined Citysearch just to write a redeeming review for Root Excavation. I employed Root Excavation to perform a sewer scope before I bought my house and, after I purchased the house, to replace the sewer line which they had identified as broken and a party line (disallowed in the city of Portland). For the duration of the work the employees were professional and thorough. They also offered a more comeptitive bid for the sewer repair than other contractors I talked to. Firstly, they identified the problems with the sewer line and made a DVD of the sewer scope so we and the sellers could see the problems for ourselves and use that information in negotiations. Secondly, each time I called I got a quick response from a knowledgable employee and I was kept up to date on the timeline for repairs. Thirdly, they repaired the sidewalk and yard that was dug up during the work and left the area in good condition. Overall, I had a good experience with Root Excavation and I would use them... Mon Sep 07 2009They repaired my sewer in 2004. Three weeks after their "5 year" warranty was up we discovered a problem. When I called the owner she said it could be... rodent, it could be a spring under the property, it could be they couldn't get proper grading. it could be.. it could be.. it could be.. excuses excuses excuses. Not once did she offer to come and look at the property or offer any type of solution. The damage was obviously happening during their "warranty" period. The problem I had was the same problem they were hired to correct. 1. No rodent tunnels were found when I had the line replaced by a reputable company 2. Checked records no "spring" under my property 3. The company doing the work was able to get proper grade What was found were several big boulders that should have been moved by Root but were not- they bent or moved the pipe around the rocks instead. They had also installed the pipe coming off the main sewer line 1/4 in off so there was no way they could have had... Read more
