Robin is a no-talent comedian that has not made a decent movie since Mrs. Doubtfire. As for his personality, I can't stand any lowlife who makes racist jokes about innocent children.

Robin Williams and his cocaine were unstoppable in the 80's. He's still rather clever and fast on his feet, but his pushing the envelope of what's acceptable has ended as there is little unbroken ground left.

As a stand-up comedian Robin Williams is wild, but he is also one of the best comedians at improvisation. I saw a video of him a couple of years ago where he'd attended a science lecture and the equipment had broken - to fill in the time whilst they got themselves sorted he came down and introduced himself with a few jokes. He plays off the audience and does jokes based on what he knows about the audience and what they respond to. As an actor he's made some very poor choices in movies, but when he's not falling back to his comic roots he does produce some really good films: Dead Poets Society, Good Will Hunting, etc. To some degree I do even like What Dreams May Come and Patch Adams.

Typecast as a goofy comedic actor, he is immensely underrated for his dramatic acting ability IMO...

The White Lady negated his talent and left him way over stimulated.

I realize I am obviously on an island here as people love him, but Robin Williams is silly, not funny. Once in a while he will have something mildly amusing to say, however most of the time he lets himself be defined by the role he played in the dreadful show Mork and Mindy. (Offering little more than strange voices, odd sounds, and making faces.) I suppose humor is subjective and in the ear of beholder. If you like him, enjoy.

Years ago, he was funny but somewhere along the way he became a caricature of himself and stopped being funny. Nothing against him but I just don't find him funny anymore.

This man has set the bar for comedians all over the world, and none surpass it.

The comedic off-spring of Jonathan Winters. Always enjoy his standup even when his work was coke-induced and hard to follow. Wish he would do more standup like the old days but I guess his success in Hollywood and his fame would make it difficult.

where can i ask as to the role played by robin williams in mrs. doubtfire as the "old maid".....i saw a classic 1944 movie wit ray milland and in it, appeared barbara everest as the "maid" and lord and behold....his fictitious character was almost as true to a real person as it can get.....check it out.....

I respect his talent, and his ability to think fast on his feet and improvise, but I've just never found him very funny. A little too manic for my taste, I think. He seems to be trying now to make it as a dramatic actor, which I can't really comment on, as I haven't seen too many of his "dramatic" movies. I saw some of "Insomnia" and I guess I can understand why people think he's pretty good-- however, I would recommend to those same people that they see the original "Insomnia" from Norway...now that's great acting!

A man gifted with talent. Robin has acted a wide array of roles in movies like, "Good Will Hunting", "What Dreams May Come", "The World According to Garp", "Mrs. Doubtfire", "Bicentennial Man" , "Good Morning, Vietnam ", and "The Birdcage". His stand-up has lots of energy and tends to be erratic and sometimes seemingly desperate but, at any given moment Robin can have you in tears which makes his sometimes uncomfortable performance forgivable. Robin also has persevered against his addictions to drugs and alcohol. Moreover, he has a heart of gold. A family man with a charitable reputation. In closing Robin Williams is a good man and true entertainer.

Awful.  His stand-up is the worst of all-time.  If you need any affirmation of how awful he is, just look at the Oscars.  They continually put Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, and Whoopie Goldberg as the host, or they have all three.  Three of the most over-rated and boring "comedians" on the planet.

One dimensional actor that never got beyond his Mork And Mindy and/or his way-to-cute 10 second manic-gibberish delivery in terms of acting. One of the worst actors in American history, certainly one of the most annoying. Bascially, he plays the same character in every movie he is in.

Overrated.  The only thing that Robin can play is a wacky cartoon voice.

I can't watch him, I have to turn the channel, he is about as funny as watching someone on a bad LSD trip!  I don't like his movies or stand up, just too frantic and frenzied.

Great guy but pretty much uses the same routine in everything he's done. I find it annoying when he tells a joke because it seem like he belives he's the funniest man alive and that it's a privilage to laugh at him. he's overrated.

I will never understand his wide spread popularity.  I never bought into his stand up (and I performed stand up myself...though not with the same level of sucess!)...and rarely "got" his movies.  I enjoyed Popeye...and Good Will Hunting...that's about it.  Oh, and that movie where he played the killer in the Alaskan wilderness.  However, the last two I mentioned were not comedies...but did showcase his range as an entertainer.

He is one of the few comedians/actors in this world that has been so consistent!!! He is funny, He is thought provoking and an all round guy that I would love to invite to meet my family!!! If there could be a Hall of fame for Comedians he would defiantly be in the top 5!!!! Continue to do what you do best Robin make us laugh. If he were British he would already be a knight for all the good things he does in Comedy and out!!!!

He was in a class by himself in his stand-up heyday.  He was vaudeville, satirist, impressionist, circus clown, and storyteller and the best in the business at any single element.  He had a manic energy and an agile mind that we have never seen the likes of.  He wasn't afraid to push the edge of acceptable comedy, but he never became so engrossed in the cause of changing the world that he forgot to be funny when he was on stage.  Few if any comedians can keep their act at the top level forever.  He smartly diversified and became an actor with a career of peaks and valleys, just like any one who stays in the business for the long haul.  Thankfully he keeps his tools sharp by taking to the stage ever decade or so and performing "in one".

Please go away I never could stand you & your maniacal personality.  You r JUST not funny.  The worst is looking into your eyes & seeing a lost soul.. Please find peace in another realm (inacessable to the public, mind you) to exert your passions.  God speed!

He could very well be the most overrated comedian of all time. His comedy albums were brutally self-aggrandizing and unfunny. His role as Mork was representative of TV sitcom execs that have no casting skills. His cutesy, self-absorbed, over-the-top style of showstopper comedy falls flat in its egocentric approach. If you think that Robin Williams is some sort of comedic genius, or perhaps possesses undeniably fantastic improvisational comedic skills, you need to get your head out of your cornhole. Hamming it up and acting like some coke-headed court jester does not a great comedian or actor make! Gong!

Although he gets a little annoying at times, I had to give this guy a perfect 5. His roles in "Good Will Hunting", "Awakenings", and- yes, I'm going to say it- "The Adventures of Baren Munchousen" are state of the art.

Mr. Williams is a wonderful comedian. He truly makes you laugh out loud. I like the majority of his movies. He seems like such a likeable individual. Honestly, I worry about people who think ill of the man. Each to their own--I guess. Personally, I'll have a tear in my eye when I hear of his passing. I have literally grown up watching him perform. Foul mouth? I don't care. At least he isn't cruel in his humor--which seems to be the "cool" thing to do anymore. Three cheers for Robin Williams!

Without his medication or a strong director, this jack-ass is a complete bore. As a comedian, he tries too hard and is about as funny as a herniated disc. Keep him away from emceeing awards shows. and keep him away from the coke. He's already hyper enough as is.

Hard to believe that one person could have so much talent and energy. He's like a hyper kid who's had way to much coffee and energy drinks. Very funny. Those who don't like him are proably big Gallagher fans.

Robbin Williams can act- just watch the "Dead Poets Society" if you doubt this. However,he is almost always playing the same annoying spaz, and for that I have to deduct a few points.

Robin williams is one of my favorite funny actors. the only bad thing is that when he tries to do a serious film he still seems funny. But thats ok that is what he is about!!! I thought his newer one one hour photo was great It seemed to drag a lot but it was a unique film and held my interest.
