Sat Apr 26 2008Q.T.'s second best film, maybe the most intelligent. Good cast and acting. Story is a bit minimal but the pacing is good.

Mon Sep 03 2007UPDATE--LABOR DAY, 2007. I went to my favorite local video store and in the bargain bin was a copy of this flick for $2.00. I bought it and watched it again. I can't for the life of me see all the hype about this trash. I wish I had my two bucks back. ORIGINAL COMMENT: Tarentino's first flick. The critics and other artsy types got the vapors and ejaculated in their jeans over this mindless violence tripe. The plot is a gaggle of mopes planning a heist and then licking their wounds after the crime goes bad. It goes down hill from there. The nihilism that is so evident in Tarentino films really got its start here. Did you all enjoy the torture scene? Of course this type of film does have its adherents. Just don't tell us that it's art!

Tue Nov 14 2006A nasty little piece of work by King of the Geeks although he's since gone on to become involved in even more vile and sickening films.

Sat Nov 11 2006Everyone said this movie was really violent and gory and when I saw it I thought "Is at it?". Same thing with Silence of the Lambs.

Thu Sep 14 2006would have made an awefully good film if they had filmed the bank robbery that the film is set around, instead of just the get aways.

Tue Sep 13 2005Boring, self indulgent and pointless. Most of the movie takes place in a warehouse where shot up guys talk to each other, talk about edge of you seat. If you liked the movie go out and watch grass grow, you will find it facinating

Fri Aug 19 2005A nasty story about nasty people. Very well done, without a weak performance from anyone. Proof that an action movie can be intelligent, and doesn't need to depend on unending action sequences to be riveting. Of course, simpletons prefer unending action, its easier than thinking or trying to follow a complex story.

Thu Apr 07 2005Nothing like it! True original, Mr. Pink is a legend.

Wed Jan 26 2005An unpleasant little film made by an ubergeek who's clearly trying hard to compensate for his planet sized nerdiness. What was the point of it exactly?

Fri Jan 07 2005Arguably Taratino's best film, this one packs in the most excitement and the best writing. Harvey Keitel is excellent as MR. White and Steve Buscemi plays a wonderful Mr. Pink, but Tim Roth is the real show stopper as Mr. Orange (Freddy Nuindike). Tarantino make an appearance as Mr. Brown and Lawrence Tierney is a tough but funny crime boss. Michael Madsen's Mr. White cahracter get to have most of the fun (i.e. cutting the ear of of Marvin Nash the captured police officer, and generally playing it cool). The constant backdrop of K-Billy's Super Sounds of the seventies makes the perfect frame for this film. Best Scene: Are you gonna bark all day little doggy, or are you gonna bite?

Mon Aug 02 2004As a violence director, this is even more insipid than Pulp Fiction.

Thu Jun 24 2004Bloody, violent, and funny all at the same time. Has a good soundtrack too. Favorite scene: the infamous ear cutting scene. You'll never think of Stuck In The Middle With You the same way again after seeing it.

Tue Apr 13 2004An absolutely fantastic debut from Tartintino with an iron clad fantastic cast and very sharp plot and editing with funky music to boot. Its very slick, very violent and keeps your eyes glued the whole way through. I never tire of this film.

Fri Aug 15 2003Definitely not for the faint of heart like all Tarantino films. This action movie blasted onto the all time great lists. The superb script ,excellant casting and groundbreaking editing and style make this an alltime great and in my opinion overshadows Pulp Fiction as Tarantino's best.

Sat May 31 2003Reservoir Dogs is my favorite movie and Tarantino's best film. Great crime film.

Wed Nov 20 2002Now that it has been 10 years, I am a little more objective. It is a very good (but not perfect) film. Terrific action storytelling in non-linear time. Great cast, good script (although it's not for the weak.) The Dogs still rule. . .it's still an awesome crime film with a twist. Love the gaudy 70's soundtrack. . .

Sat Oct 26 2002This movie was INTENSE. But never abused cheap tactics, explosions, or cheezy romantic dialogue. It's dialogue, in fact, is probably second only to "Pulp Fiction" in quality and humor. We see the perfect crime go horibly and tragically awry without ever seeing it happen. Even though the main players are all cold-blooded killers, in their plight, we find sympathy, and actually care about what happens to them. These are the markings of a good film.

Wed Apr 24 2002Quentin Tarantino came bursting onto the scene with this classy and thrilling thriller. Completely mixed up, there is no time here, the times change, this is great. Watch out for a cops ear, Mr. Blonde and a knife, this film was great. After the opening sequence in a bar it took me to a sickening sight of Mr. Orange (Tim Roth), and Mr. White (Harvey Kietel), in a car, Orange shot in the gut and White trying to comfort him while driving a car, this is entertaining as they get. Cool. Slick. Awesome. Three words that describe Tarantino's debut. Not quite as good as Pulp Fiction, but still damn good. See now. Summary: AN EXCELLENT, COOL THRILLER THAT IS A MUST-SEE.

Mon Feb 04 2002terintino is a bad ass! this movie is very smart, though a little disturbing, still great work! although most of the actors are unheard of they are still increadable. not as explosive as pulp fiction, it is still up there, besides some irrelevent flaws it's still a mind twister. wonderful!

Fri Jan 25 2002i would say this movie sparked, or perhaps solidified, a new genre of films, the ultra violence of suburbia. similar to movies before it, clockwork orange, twin peaks, and blue velvet, r-dogs looks at the weird world of suburbia and the violence needed to compete and rise to the top. r-dogs is by far tarantino's best movie. the others ones falling victim more and more to his ego and poor acting ability. pulp fiction was entertaining and decent, but not ground breaking like r-dogs. this movie lays the foundation for many of the better movies of the 1990s. although quite frankly i am sick of them now.

Wed Nov 14 2001Quentin Tarintino really outdid himself with this seemingly low budget film. The storyline was great and i loved the jumping around between past and present. Heavey Keitel was the perfect choice for his part. One of the best films made in the last 10 years.

Thu May 10 2001"Resevoir Dogs" is Tarantino's preliminary film to the chronologically disjointed and colorfully violent film, "Pulp Fiction". It had the same elements of "Pulp.." without being as polished or grand. It's a smaller story with a rawer edge, but that doesn't detract from the fact that it is an exhilarating film full of sharp dialogue and intriguing situations. The particular thing that struck me about "Resevoir Dogs" was the special camraderie among the characters. It gave us a glimpse into the personifications of the oxymoron-'honorable criminals'. Keitel's 'Mr. White' is the foremost example of this: the second scene in the film where Mr. Orange was bleeding profusely from the gut and White was holding his hand and encouraging him to hang on was one of the most interesting and heartwrenching scenes of cinematic male-bonding without being too melodramatic or kitsch-y.

Wed Apr 25 2001this is one of my favorite Tarintino films of all time. theres never a dull moment as this film rolls on with its amazing ensamble cast and its terrific script. this movie tells the story of a crime, but never shows the crime making it all the more brilliant. the crime is told through a series of flashbacks through all the characters, creating this perfect crime and telling how it went wrong and where everyone ended up, one of the most interesting ways to tell a story i've ever seen.outstanding performances by all the actors in the movie. brilliantly directed, my hats off to you, Quentin.

Tue Apr 24 2001Thw best of the Quentin Tarintino trilogy and his first. This film is executed marvolously. Everything is believable, every line a character has seems real and almost immproved. Also very original to take a crime movie away from the crime that has been commited and tell the stories through series of flashbacks for every primary character and through scenes of the aftermath. No director with a right mind could ask for a better ensemble cast to bring this picture to life. Heavy hitters like Harvey Keitel,Tim Roth,Steve Buscemi(in one of his most memrobale roles) and Michael Madson really make this a unbelievably good crime drama. Filled with as much humor as action. Of course this is Tarintino humor so it is a bit morbid and crude at times. There is one line inparticular that nails me every time. When Mr.Pink keeps asking Joe why he has to be Mr.Pink and then Joe's reply puts me on the ground. A must see for any fan of Tarintino or great story telling seen through the eyes of a visionary... Thu Jan 25 2001Great directing by Tarintino. Good acting and cinematography as well. It was very well put together. An excellent movie for anyone who liked Pulp Fiction.

Wed Jan 24 2001Heavy on the violence but in a good way. Witty humor throughout the movie. I'd watch it for the soundtrack alone. Go Mr. Pink!

Mon Jan 15 2001Quentin Tarntino is a genius. In his first major Hollywood film, he gathers an awesome cast to go along with his vague writing and creative directing.

Thu Jan 11 2001A must see for Tarantino fans and people who enjoy hilarious but off the wall sitcoms. A bank robbery gone bust-a rat-enjoy the bloodbath and witty comedy remarks.

Thu Jan 11 2001This is a very good movie. The plot is like no other. Not too many directors could make a movie like this work, but this is done perfectly. There is never a moment where you can tell what will come next. Great movie.

Mon Nov 27 2000From the twisted mind of Quentin Tarantino, this movie fits well with its theatrical brothers and sisters, Pulp Fiction, From Dusk Till Dawn, and other psychotic flicks. Savage is the one word that describes this movie in its entirety.
by katerbuggy
Mon Nov 27 2000I love Quentin Tarantino. Nobody knows how to write a plot like him. I love how the story is told from different points of view and the plot is like a puzzle which slowly fits to create a thrilling climax. There are great twists at the end. Wonderful movie.

Fri Nov 24 2000Great movie. Harvey Keitel plays a good role as does Tim Roth. Tarantino movies are good if you like what he does.

Fri Nov 24 2000Great film with a great cast. An extremely stark and realistic view on crime. Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen and Tim Roth are awesome! Very original story and format. Tarantino is a genius.

Tue Nov 21 2000Reservoir dogs is Quentin Tarantino's best film and arguably one of the best films, period. It was very cutting edge in it's time and remains so several years of technique evolution later, and will undoubtedly continue to be far into the future. This film twists your imagination and destroys your morals and you'll love it like nothing else. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!

Mon Nov 20 2000If Quentin Tarantino didn't act in the movie it would be a five. Anyway, a great twist on the classic gangster movie. Plus, the soundtrack is a great mix of 70's funk, surf and rock.
by dirtydingusmcg_ee
Fri Nov 17 2000This movie has an excellent plot. It has the typical Quentin Tarantino structure where it gets started at the last scene of the movie then jumps around to finish it at the end. It comes together perfectly at the end. This is one of my favorite movies.
by reserviordog
Fri Nov 17 2000This movie is absolutely flawless. I don't understand how it is only #26 on the list. If you haven't seen this movie, go rent it, right now.

Wed Nov 15 2000Reservoir Dogs was full of gnarly scenes like the graphic ear removal scene. But they talked too much and took too long during the tipping scene.

Tue Nov 14 2000Interesting movie, very well made with excellent acting and plot. Makes you think about exciting subjects. Not a good make-out movie because you get involved in the plot.

Mon Nov 13 2000Forced to watch it with my boyfriend and it sucked. I'm not the gruesome type of movie watcher. I recommend it only for those who like blood and cold hearted killing.
by jsalcedo
Wed Nov 08 2000One of my most favorite all time movies because of it's ability to explore the minds of all the characters. This movie gives you a sense of passion for criminals that become vitimized and the one officer who gains everyone's trust, and then turns around and shoves it up their ass.
by eric7477
Wed Nov 01 2000Tarantino's direction makes this movie chronologically confusing. It does however, not lack for action and good acting. Dropping you right into the story. Like Pulp Fiction, has many memorable scenes.

Thu Aug 03 2000timeless movie. and how perfect was "stuck in the middle with you" for the ear scene?

Wed Jun 21 2000Several of my guy college friends would keep Reservoir Dogs poster up on their walls. At that point I had not watched the movie. I thought that it was a typical "guy" movie. I found Reservoir Dogs very exiting, the images are very vivid. Especially as one guy (I think the police guy) got his ear cut off. The movie makes you get into the story, it's not just plain killing. Reservoir Dogs takes you into a roller coaster of emotions. So, this is a very intense movie. You got to watch it!!!
