the spr453 is my auto shotgun and it seems to be a durable gun, i took out to the range shooting light loads it was pretty much a single shot we moved it half a click to the heavy loads and never had a problem it shot smooth and clean and my waterfowl hunt it was 9 degrees outside with ice everywhere it shot every thing from a 2 3/4, 3, 3 1/2 emachantly never hung up or missed fired

Ok this was my first auto loader, I have shot a Remington 870 for 10 years without a problem. I've yet to fully clean it (other than bore). When I first picked up the Spartan, I can say I was rather impressed. I had shot about 2 case of shells through it in pre-season at skeet and trap with full break down cleaning between outings. Opening weekend of duck season the gun failed on me. There is nothing worse to an avid duck hunter than a gun not ejecting shells. After shooting single shot my first day out with it, I quickly stored it away. Luckily to me a freind brought along a back up 870 as a I was sure my new "SPARTAN" would not fail. My suggestion to you would be to stay with an AMERICAN made gun!!!!!!!! CORY O RSVL, CA

Fantastic gun, I was a bit discouraged that it wouldn't cycle the low power target loads at first but after a few hundred rounds of heavier stuff (min. 1 1/4 oz) it cycles everything i will feed it. go to shotgunworld.com and check out the I love my Baikal forum, lots of info about this gun and the break in process required. You will be happy with this once it's broken in because it will eat anything you feed it! I have a factory camo one and though I heard some of the finishes on the synthetic black aren't that great, the camo looks pretty sweet and seems durable enough for lots of time in a duck blind.

Great gun once you put about 100 rounds of 1 1/4 oz loads through it, do not touch the gas system from the factory. That is a big mistake that most people make, mine will cycle all the way from the 2 oz magnums down to the 7/8 oz targets loads with no problems. It does get pretty dirty so expect to clean it a lot more then other guns but, it is terrific for the price.

For a SPR 453, THE MANUAL STABLISH THE LOAD MUST BE 1 1/4, IF YOU WANT TO USE 1 1/8 LOADS YOU MUST ADJUST THE PISTON

this gun owns.im only twelve and i can shoot 3 1/2" turkey magnums and not have to go to the hospital because of shoulder problems.its very light and the matte finish is great for all types of hunting.the break in period is stupid but overall its a great gun the blueing on the barell comes off easy and the loading and unloading process ius confusing.the gun shoots very fast.this is one of the best guns on the market.BUY IT!!!

Ok gun-gucks up a bit after a few hundred rounds, to be expected, but it was substantially more dirty than a rem 1100 that had been shot the same amount. Keeps shooting even when dirty. I've only had about 10 failed ejections out of several thousand rounds.

Bought this gun 2 months ago and have already put 3 cases of shells through it without a problem. Probably the best gun available in this price range

I purchased a remington SPR453 in the middle of 2006. Since then i have shot doves, ducks and deer with it. Unbelieveable. This gun is hands down the best in its class. Very cost effective for an all around great gun. I would recommend this gun to anyone. Light weight for doves with little recoil, and great shot pattern with buckshot. Recoil on 3.5 inch buchshot very good also for such a light gun. Best of all. You can shoot a low brass bird shot followed by a magnum load and vise versa with no ejection problems or jamming problems. Buy this gun. U can't go wrong........
