I just received two remington shot guns from my grandfather a 870 wingmaster 20gauge and a 1100 twenty gauge. I was going to buy slug barrels for both of them until I found out they were older modles with an X at the end of the serial #. I called Remington to find out they do not make barrels for these guns any more. So I looked on line to see if I could find a used one for each gun. Not to my supprise as usual in our great country people want more for the barrels than the gun is worth you know the Regan idea greed is good. It is bad enough that remington made the older guns so good that they had to quit building replacement barrels for them so they could sell the new crap they are making now. I will not buy ammo or firearms from this company any more!!!

I have 4 1100 remingtons. .410, 28, 20 , and 12. The 12 is circa 1975, others 76-80. I was a competitive skeet shooter. Five years of shooting - o malfunctions in 12 and 20 and a maybe 6 with the smaller gauges. Have shot thousands of shells through these guns including duck and dove hunts in Louisiana. I am lazy these days and some times shoot the guns and do not clean for several years. I recently shot the 12 and 28 to prepare for hunting and had 0 malfunctions shooting 100 shells through each gun. This is extraordinary as I last shot the guns 2 years ago and (shame on Me) had not broken them down and cleaned them properly. The 1100 is the best semiauto shotgun ever manufactured -bar none.

I shot my 1100 remington and the receiver blew on the bottom. Remington want to exchange my 100 for a 1187 plus $447.Would it be worth it for me. Remington blames me for shooting a strong shot. The problem is that I didnt shot a heavy shot. Thank you in advance My email is [email protected]

I have had one for twenty five years, I like the gun but just to heavy to carry around the field, I switched to a Winchester Super x2  light field now and am much better off!

I bought an 1100 last month. I had shot my grandfather's 16 ga. for years and loved it. The 1100 I bought is 36 years old! It had never had a shot fired through it! My best friend's dad bought it, took it out one time, never fired it, and put it on the wall for 24 years. For the past 11 years it was in the attic attracting fiberglass insulation! I disassembled it, cleaned it real well, fire three rounds in it to make sure it would work, then I took it out to shoot a the local gun club. 175 rounds later, I am in love with my 1971 12ga. 1100!

I hate to write a bad review about a remington since I grew up owning remingtons but I purchased a new model 1100 G3 20 gauge just recently.  I bought one of the guns that was in the box not a display model.  I also own a remington model 1187 12 gauge that my wife gave me for christmas.  When I got home I was showing a friend how easy it was to take the gun apart and unfortunately I found rust inside the reciever on the trigger group and on the carrier that holds the bolt.  I then took my 1187 apart and found just a little rust on the carrier that holds the bolt. I bought the two guns from two different dealers and the same problem.  Remington needs to have better quality control!!  Well I got my money back on the 1100 but I kept my 1187 because I actually like the gun and how it works. Unfortunately I will not buy another remington which is too bad because I like to support american arms makers.  I ended up buying a Beretta 391 Urika 2 XTRA grain 20 gauge and I love it.

This is the standard for all other auto loaders. This is a forty year old design that continues to be one of the best to date. People complain that is heavy. The truth is it is only slightly heavier than all of the other autos and because of the extra heft, recoil is less than the competition. A little known fact is that for every 10% heavier a 12 guage shotgun is, there is 20% less recoil. Since I use mine primarily for sporting clays and shoot 100 rounds in a day, this is a plus. I have also heard that the gas design is outdated. I love this design simply because of it's reliability and ease of disassembly and cleaning. This last complaint I have heard is it only shoots 2 3/4" shells. This is true of the older 1100's, but the modern G3 1100 will shoot 3" without adjustment. All in all, this is still one of the best autoloaders money can buy.

Its been a standard for decades. It will jam from time to time if not frequently oiled and cleaned. It is heavier than a lot of its rivals.

I have the 1100 with the synthetic black stock and matte finished metal. Mine has been modified for IPSC shooting with a 10 round tube. The gun is great as far as shooting, flawless operation, accurate, easy to use and easy to clean. Definitely a good gun for the modest price. My main, and only complaint about this gun is it's heavy. I wouldn't want to lug this thing around all day hunting pheasant or rabbit. The weight would really get to you. Other than the weight, I can't knock this gun.

I have owned 3, 1 new and 2 used. The new and one of the used have continuous mis-fires and cycling failures. For many years, I used to be a loyal Remington user but never again for their shotguns. I am in the process of trading out my last 2 1100s. I still love their 552 rifle.

I bought a 20 gauge 1100 for my daughter this past year. It has composite stocks and matte blued finish. The gun came with three chokes and was flawless when we received it. The gun is gas operated and has never jammed. It is a dream to shoot with virtually no recoil. The gun breaks down with ease for cleaning, which is a must for gas operated shotguns. Overall this gun is a great buy that will serve my daughter well for the rest of her life.
