Being somewhat familiar with Ketchum's work, I was expecting something a bit more over-the-top. In a short interview in the Special Features section of the DVD, lead actor Brian Cox mentions Ketchum's reputation among horror circles and notes that this story, while including some horrific elements, is essentially a drama, rather than a horror genre piece. Cox is right on the money, and I was not disappointed in the slightest. Red is far more than a basic story of revenge. The lead character suffers the loss of his long-time canine companion at the hands of teenage thugs. Rather than fly off the handle, the isolated Avery solemnly, yet insistently merely asks for the boys to acknowledge their misdeed and apologize. Unfortunately for everyone involved (except us viewers of the film), no such resolution is in the cards. Things go from bad to worse, and while Avery maintains a relatively cool head throughout, slow to anger, the pacing works just fine and I credit the co-directors ... Read more

It's a small movie with an even smaller story that starts out appropriately minute enough, but becomes ridiculously overblown by the end. "Red" is the name of the protagonist's beloved dog in this film and he is the source of pretty much all of the conflict. While fishing one day, Red's elderly owner Ludlow is confronted by three delinquents who are out looking for trouble anywhere they can find it. Their leader is Danny (played by Noel Fisher from the FX channel's "The Riches"), and after some harassment of Ludlow who tries to maintain his cool he abruptly shoots his pet right in front of him. The remorseless Danny, his brother, and friend leave Ludlow to mourn over the brutal killing of Red, sparking a passionate desire for justice and vengeance within the old man. I suppose this passion makes sense, at least initially, as it is revealed that Red was a gift from his late wife and his last lingering tie to the best days of his past. While the movie begins as a sort of portrayal of h... Read more

Although the story here is a little stretched since the law is pretty tough on people that kill animals, especially in any city. Granted this takes place out in the country, but had this been reported to ASPCA and other like organizations I think that would of lead to a very different ending. All that aside the story of a man and his dog is quite good. While fishing three teens try to rob him and then one kills his dog. What ensues is similar but not the same as some of the revenge movies. Brian Cox and Amanda Plummer give great performances and the rest the cast are good. Good quality DVD with some replayability. If you enjoyed this catch "The Shooter". CA Luster

Red is the most irritating color. Studies have shown that a person closed in a room with all walls, floors and ceiling painted in red, becomes agitated, irritable, angry and aggressive.

Red is my favourite colour. I like how it can represemt anger and love at the same time. I keep changing my mind about my favourite coulour. Well it depends on how I'm feeling if I'm feeling okay and stuff then it's blue but now I guess I feel a bit darker so it's red and black and I assure you I am not copying Avril Lavigne.

If ever there was a color that signified pain or happiness the most, it would be this color. Red-- the burning passionate kiss of life. The sultry harmonies of the world's crap all thrown together in a collage of immortality. Just think of a rose, the brilliant red crimson of the rose. Imagine the look of awe the first person had when his eyes befell the wonderous beauty of the red rose. In all its glory, nothing can compare. Red is the passionate color, the color of love.

I really don't like the color red. Heck, I don't even like ketchup. The color red reminds me of Sharon Tate's blood when she got murdered by the Manson family.

The deepest hue on the wheel. A beautiful crimson scarlett, a delicate gem of ore. The color of fresh pumping blood-- despite the fact that it is painted over the entire bathroom wall.

The colour of passion. The colour of love, and anger and life. Passion is such an important part of living. That is why red is the best colour. It is alive! Ruby red is the best shade.

Bold, vibrant and energetic. Too much red can be overwhelming. Some shades of red can be very attractive when decorating, but it has to be done right otherwise it looks tacky. Some people look good in red, and others don't.

Red-oh, what a color! Very colorful! It's the color of most blood yet it's the color of glamour! Red is so bright, and can get anyone's attention EASILY! Hell, it's like the asshole of colors. Red can be appreciated by all tastes! Like some of the ugliest things are red, yet also are some of the most beautiful things, like a rose. Ahh, commenting soo much on red just shows you how much of a life I have!

My favorite color! Not only is it cheerful, but: It's the color of command on a Starfleet uniform, it's the most prominent color on a traffic light, it's easy to see from a distance, and more! Forget that it's the color of blood (stupid reason) and enjoy a happy and commanding color!

Red is my favourite colour that is not a neutral. Wearing red makes me feel confident. My trick is to wear red when I am feeling tired or under the weather. It works to make me look better than I feel. I have received the most compliments of "that colour looks good on you" when I have worn red. Also, red is very versatile and is not a summer colour or a winter colour but looks great all year.

Probably the warmest color of all. It's natural brightness is cheerful and has alot of presence at any given situation. In other words, it sticks out from the other colors.
